Flute solo at Sweetwater Sound drum circle

There is a drum circle at Sweetwater Sound headquarters in Fort Wayne Indiana the first Tuesday of each month. I always bring a flute to that event to demo between drumming pieces. In June I bought a DRONE flute in the key of E. After explaining how a drone flute works I played this improvisation for the drummers. Mindy Robinson - Videographer
Aeolian Native American Style flute

This flute features a sound chamber that technically makes it a native American style flute but the tuning is in Aeolian mode. This mode is sometimes associated with music from the middle east. It is a major departure from my other flutes which are all pentatonic minor.

LAKOTA LULLABY at Sunset

This video was shot at a public beach in Naples Florida. Coincidentally it is where I took much of my yoga teacher training. I was happy to find a concrete dolphin to sit on while I played this traditional Lakota tune. There was a VERY strong wind that evening making playing somewhat difficult but the sunset was too beautiful to waste, so I gave it my best shot.

This beach location is where I took most of my yoga teacher training so on a recent working vacation I just had to sit down and play my F# flute for a bit. There was a stiff wind out of the south when the video was recorded making a mess of my hair, but the flute didn't seem to mind.

Low C minor Flute and foot operated Shruti box duet

The addition of a foot pedal to this 3 octave Shruti made it possible to easily accompany the Low C minor 3D printed native American style flute. The flute was made by PYNFlutes in the UK.

I started playing the NAF last year. Not taught. I just let my heart play whatever notes come to mind. I know there are more notes than the basic holes provided but I don’t know where I can find a face to face teacher.
