Buen día Dónde las puedo conseguir?
Muy buen video crak
I had the same problem with the turbo seal, and the flange gasket. 7 years later lol.
How long did it take you to remove the turbo. Thinking about buying a 1.8t but I want to just go ahead and replace turbo so I won’t have issues
I'd say about 1-2 hours. Not complicated, just have to have the tools and make sure you soak the manifold bolts because if one breaks you might be there for a few hours
Bro, you have a really good commentator voice you should make more videos. We both have the exact same intake mines blue. Enjoy your life experience, see you on the other side.
Helpful! But lose the music 😬 At least lower while talking. The song is fine, the volume is not...
I failed at this.
Is that rubber same length as mk2 jetta?
Your rings are gone
Oil is normal bud
Just burn it mate they are heaps of shit.
Bro this was so great, and it needed your voice to slow things down and understand what bolts and studs are being removed. Question, there is a hex bolt right below the inlet coolant pipe that appears to be leaking coolant or oil not sure. Can I replace that screw/bolt
Which remote start system did you use with the t11 remote? Also where did you buy it.
great video but aren't you worried about getting water all in your engine? I'm to a car guy but...
Turbos are tiny on these cars
Thanks. This is helping me in my removal of the wastegate actuator. A 03 1.8T with 82K KM's on it. Actuator is shot. I'm at the point where I can't get to the bolt by the banjo coolant line to the turbo. Was hoping I didn't have to go this route. But, oh well. Thanks again. More likely saved me over $300 CDN in labor.
😂 I’m sitting in my driveway taking my manifold off for this EXACT reason, and my gti is a 03 as well
Very useful video, thank you. We are thinking about buying a 2003 Bora Wolfsburg & had some questions about the turbo before making the purchase, so this video definitely helped alot. :) Thumbs up.
wow. Lot of work. I got a oil leek i hop is not at the turbo
Wishing you good luck bud. Blew the turbo on my Audi, bought a maxpeedingrods turbo and all new turbo oil feed and drain lines, all turbo gaskets and washers, intake manifold and throttle body gaskets, will be redoing all the vacuum lines at the same time too. My car has been down for a month and a half now due to waiting on parts. So make sure you do everything correctly
@@mk4geo822 I’m in the same exact boat as you right now. I just got the same turbo and went to the junkyard to get all “new” lines. How is the maxspeedingrods turbo??
Nice one dude! This is something i will need to do on mine soon so this is greatly appreciated
Great video but I could barely understand what this dude was saying cuz he was mumbling the whole time
great job
Use only fully synthetic oil bro . 20v turbo blocks sludge up really quick and fail on part synth or mineral oil
Definitely, but turbo seals wear which is the typical cause of this
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Where i can find the rebuild kit?
Do you have a good source to get some new ones? Thanks
Its my understanding these are no longer available so your best bet would be a junkyard
That's what i had in mind... Thanks!
Thanks man, I'm from Brazil and I have a A3 8L, with the same problem I guess, oil on exhaust... I don't know why but don't have much videos from removing turbo from A3... I have sure your video will help me with my car Thanks a Lot
Iv been trying to get that bolt off were you sead you need shaped alen do you know the size of the alen?
Nm I ended up doing it it's a pain in the ass though but now I know how to do it
Video is exceptionally misleading, Lol, if you think it will take less than 15 minutes you're in for an unpleasant surprise! Great vid btw, but for you first timers plan at least a full day or even a weekend just to be safe and not sorry.
I agree it wont take 15min lol. But would you like to sit through 2 hours of video of a random guy struggling to remove some nuts and bolts? Lol
will be doing mine next week , fitted fmic and oil in cooler and play in shaft , good video
Great camera veiw
It shows the turbo perfectly
Thanks for the vidéo. I can't access to the last 12mm bolt holding the manifold (the second one from the right underneath). It looks like my socket can't get through. Any ideas ?
Lots of swivel sockets
I had a major pain with this bolt too, took about an hour to get the right socket mixture to fit that shit
Very helpful..I was struggling with my car till I found this video thanks.
Your title is wrong
Dang - I take it you have to take the exhaust manifold off? i.e. I nearly have the turbo out but cant get to the collant banjo bolt that connects to the turbo. Is exhaust manifold removal a must
Great vid by the way really helpful
What size rench for manifold bolts
Just a regular 1/2in.. As far as the socket size I believe the nuts were 13mm
12mm on my gti.
Was 12 mm thanks guys
Thanks for the correction! It's been awhile.
valve full of rain water?
?
Can you put video from turbo fixing???
sweet ride. maybe you can upload a vid of it in action! #subscribed
I've actually sold it already. Working on RX-8, Porsche 924 Turbo, and NB Miata Videos
@@jonmadden59 ah nice. I had a turbo NA Miata before :) Have fun with your builds!
@@6ixthstage845 Thank you!
I own this thing now
@@Bustingutzz cool car
Might want to mention that you need a special Allen key ratchet at the beginning of the vid.. got all the way to removing the last bracket and now cant go any further.
You can use a regular Allen key. It's not necessarily special. I'll see it I can add a note
should’ve watched the whole video before starting
But a gt3076 turbo then ur moving
So you can replace these without needing a hoist?
Of course! Just need to fit under the car. I did this on some ramps.
Any tips on how you did the wiring harness? I'm trying to swap 1.8t awp into my mk2 jetta
They sell kits for them, plug n play but at the time because mine was a CE1 car and they weren't available, I chopped all the mk4 wiring and spliced it with the mk2 wiring 1 wire at a time
@@jonmadden59 Thanks for reply. I've been trying to thin out the mk4 harness now and get rid of stuff I don't need. Which wires did you have to splice? Are you using both the mk2 and mk4 fuse boxes?
@@trashman1694 It depends on what you want to keep and how you are going about your build. I left my original clocks which would be different if you're using mk4 ones etc. It's 100% easier to just buy a harness. Trust me. If not get yourself a mk2 Bently Manual and a Mk4 Bently manual and start looking at the wiring diagrams of both. Mostly what needs to be spliced is ecu into interior stuff like fuel pump, fuses and relays. You'll also need a non immobilized ecu.
Yeah I have the mk2 and mk4 Bentley books. Haven't got the ecu tuned/immobilizer defeated yet. Was sort of planning on half assing it first and just using the mk4 cluster and ignition with original mk4 key with the mk2 dash removed just to get to drive it around some since I have them from mk4 donor car. Would like to have the mk2 clocks and dash complete at some point, and delete immobilizer. I noticed you have the ecu and sai relays mounted inside fender, does the 100 sai relay control stuff other than sai pump?
Think I remember now the sai 100 relay also controls coil packs? This has been the project car that keeps going on the backburner...
been searching endlessly for what actually works in terms of engine /trans mounts for this combo. Do you have part numbers for what you used? There are so many good 1.8t/O2J donor cars in Europe
I don't have a list of part numbers but I do have a list in the description of what was used... Are you from the UK?
@@jonmadden59 in continential Europe, so you used standard mk2 GTI rear mount and a corrado front?
@@timocallaghan4408 correct. This won't work on RHD cars though which is why I asked if you were from the UK. You can use your stock mounts. The Corrado one was just because is supposedly stiffer. The only mount you will need is a 5speed mk3 vr6 transmission mount that bolts to the K frame. I got mine from a 1996 Jetta GLX. That's car was also where I got the front hubs & brakes, control arms, axles, rear beam & brakes, and fuel tank and fuel pump from. I used the mk4 1.8t brake booster, pedal assembly, engine and trans.
If you have a ce2 car, wiring will be a piece of cake, you can buy a plug and play wiring harness for your car. S-pautomotive.com I had to wire the entire vehicle from scratch using the mk4 wires and a Bently manual for both cars, definitely the worst part of the build so if you can avoid it buy the harness
@@jonmadden59 awesome to see a clear answer, thank you so much!
P.s Wish I could buy this :)
Its for sale. 6k
Nice MK2 you got there chap! Really want to know the spec on this and where did you get that alarm from? I have a MK2 20VT agu too How did you run 2 step? this is a well put together video, it has just given me the motivation to get mine on road as a reliable usable daily. I bet that remote start makes life easier. What seats are those also. Sorry loads of questions.
The alarm is a compustar. In Europe I think it goes by the name of magic something. The seats are Brides, I got reps and welded the brackets to the original seat frames. Ask away!
2 Step is part of the ecu tune. The ecu needs to read clutch engagement and 0 speed to activate. It can't read speed because I'm using the original clocks so I had to put it on a switch. 12v to the ecu pin. Mines an AWW
@@jonmadden59 Thanks a lot bro keep the videos coming you've got some good editing skills maybe do some comparisons and reviews I have already subscribed! :)
Thank you, you saved me so much time!
Did you rebuild or repkace. Im thinking about rebuilding....... just trying to get a heads up. Btw. The video was perfect
I rebuilt it as it was on $60 for the rebuild kit. If your shaft isn't too bad you should be fine with marking everything with nail polish before removing. I track mine often and I have about 15k miles on mine. I didn't get the turbo balanced but Ill its an important thing to do if you want to be sure it will last.
thanks alot. how do your remove the mouldings around the wheel arch..
Phillologist Mine actually didnt come with them but I have read a light pass over with a heat gun might work to loosen the adhesive. if not, you might be able to use fishing line. Look up "debadge car with fishing line" same concept
THANK YOU SIR.
I was able to remove them starting from the back roof side pulling with just my fingers and working towards the front, just need to get the front loose
I cant get my 4 turbo bolts off for the life of me. From the top or bottom
Dude I'm having the same issue. I heard about a double nut trick to pull the studs out of the turbo. Then you'd have to put the studs back in
@@derricksarazin6582 Guys soak the bolts in penetrating oil be it home-made concoctions or PB blaster etc, moderately soak the studs and any bolts for a few hours or overnight if necessary. From underneath the car using a socket ratchet w/ a long extension, a socket swivel, and a short-sized breaker bar, that's all I used and my MK4 Gti had 200k miles on it when I swapped out the original turbo, the studs came off but they get replaced anyway. And altho this great video is short this takes a LOT longer than a few minutes and you should know your way around your car, but definitely doable in a day w/o the need for power tools. As long as your car is securely lifted on ramps or jack stands everything can be accessed accordingly with the proper hand tools, time and patience.
