You are spreading absolute falsehoods, LIES, and misinformation! You set the context as being a safer approach to managing pain and state prescription opioids are highly addictive and dangerous. You then say that 80% of the over 100,000 overdose drug deaths were due to opioids, leading the listener to believe those opioids were prescription opioids when you KNOW THIS IS NOT TRUE! Illicitly manufactured fentanyl (IMF) is the opioid causing that 80% death number NOT prescription opioid medication! TELL THE TRUTH! WITHOUT stating You then state “the majority of these people started by seeking pain relief”, again, leaving the listener to believe they started by using prescription opioid medication prescribed to them. THIS IS NOT TRUE! YOU KNOW THIS IS NOT TRUE! TELL THE TRUTH! Less than anywhere between 1-2% of those prescribed an opioid medication to relieve either short term acute pain or incurable, painful chronic illness EVER addict to their medication! THIS IS THE TRUTH! You do not tell people that buprenorphine IS ALSO AN OPIOID! You do not tell people that buprenorphine IS FAR MORE ADDICTIVE than any traditional prescription opioid. You do not tell people that buprenorphine, once begun, is FAR MORE DIFFICULT TO COME OFF OF than any traditional prescription opioid and even FAR MORE DIFFICULT TO COME OFF OF than HEROIN! You then say buprenorphine is both safe and effective to treat pain. The TRUTH is that buprenorphine helps SOME patients to relieve pain but the MAJORITY find it to be ineffective for managing pain. TELL THE TRUTH!

Sounds like you are interested in profiting off people with intractable and chronic pain. Buprenorphrine is an opioid that is just as dangerous as any other Opioid if mixed with other drugs especially alcohol.

Thank you Dr. Houston. I would like to comment on your question pertaining to the control of dollar flow within the healthcare system and how you attempt to answer it; you mentioned that it is physicians who "with a stroke of a pen" determine how healthcare dollars are spent. Moreover, you alluded to organizations "scooping up" physicians for that purpose. These statements imply--at least partly--that physicians have some leverage and are coveted by enterprise. But how can a group of professionals who are unable to unionize, go on strike, determine their pay rate, or have meaningful influence on healthcare law and regulations have any leverage? Doctors are the cash cows of the entire healthcare system.... except themselves. As their salaries decrease, everyone else benefits. That hardly seems like an influential group to me. With regards to large groups "scooping up" Doctors, I would also like to remind you that said organizations toss them out as quickly as they "scoop" them. As soon as the Doctor's "productivity" goes down or he/she voices some kind of concern, they let them go. This is also in inpatient settings, as hospitalists find themselves increasingly scrambling for the next gig, as their short term contracts end. Again, hardly an influential group to me. My alternative view is this: most of healthcare dollars at any one time are sitting in the coffers of commercial payors and Medicare/CMS. Therefore, it is they who run the entire show. Doctors are perhaps the weakest, most vulnerable, and least influential. Still, i am super excited that some Doctors like yourselves are thinking outside the box to introduce much needed innovation in this byzantine system.
