Wahooo!!🎉🎉 What tracks did you ride?
If the Canyon fork is traditional round rather than a proprietary D shape, Black Inc makes a very similar integrated handlebar (very sleek and aero) which has a UCI compliant aero bar solution. It works almost identical to your Canyon system, only it has two risers instead of the mono riser. Looks to be just as quick to set up - just pull the two covers off, and screw the aerobars on. It also has a built in accessory mount under the bars just like the Canyon.
Interesting and also great it is uci compliant. Will have to check it out!
Can you take them off easy for riding in a chain gang?
Yeah mate. Super easy to take off 5min Max process. That's the beauty of them 👌
Why are they not uci approved? Is it too far forward of the front axle or something?
It is because for uci you need 2 individual skis/arm rest which mount to the bar vs the Canyon only having the one mounting point. Which is unfortunate.
UCI is so fking ridiculous... @@JordanWatkinsRacing
Nice bike though I'm not a fan of the boring white colour scheme.
Awesome bike! Do you know how much more speed you get with those aero bars than just the regular handlebars? I do a few triathlons here and there but mainly ride road. Looking to see if this setup would be a good fit. Thanks in advance for any feedback!
Typically you look at 10-20% decrease in drag and can equate to 1-2kmph faster in average speed. Though 70% of drag and being aero is the rider, using equiptment is mearly marginal gains, though the TT bars can help significaintly with reducing frontal area. I also recomend a good TT helmet and shoe cover for TT's.
@@JordanWatkinsRacingSounds good, thanks for the response!
If you’re looking for premium Chinese wheels, have a look at Elite Drive. 1300g for 50mm is pretty much unmatched at that price. And the company is large with a fairly good reputation.
Do you think cfr is worth the money or do you think slx8 is a smarter option? If you had the budget for cfr would you still choose slx8?
It's really comes down to small perfomance gains. If I had the money I would go for the cfr ONLY because as a junior competing at the highest level every gain is a bit more towards a possible win. Otherwise if I wasn't racing I would most likly go for the slx 8 as it is also a great bike!
To all of you laying inbetween Ultimate, Endurace or Aeroad: Get the bike that makes you want to ride more. If that's the Aeroad because you think that bike is hella sexy, get that bike.
Wicked video kind sir! The Aeroad would be my next bike for 2025 if Canyon offered a frameset-only option. I already have enough wheels and groupsets to swap haha.
Good point with the frame set. Though the bikes are very good value as it is. Factor is a good option for a frameset but depends on what works for you!
do the TT bars have an integrated garmin mount?? also with the TT bars I presume there is no way of integrating a hydration system so you'll be relying on frame mounted bottles??
Hey mate, yes there is a garmin mount but no hydration system that Im aware of. Video coming soon of an in-depth review on the time trial bars!!
@@JordanWatkinsRacing thanks Jordan, looking forward to seeing what you think of them
🥶🥶🥶
Magene Exar DB508's for the wheels - I have the ultra dark version and they are really impressive.
Hi just bought the 105 Di2 model and think it’s an incredible bike… for wheels I’ve narrowed down the far sports custom build website. For about $2K you’ll get 60mm carbon spokes and ceramic bearings .. for 1.4Kgs Quill stem for me has been a big problem … just won’t stay straight …
Hi Jordan! How tall are you, and how big are you? I'm undecided between XS or S, I'm 173cm
Hey mate, I prefer smaller bikes for the race feel. I'm 182cm and I went with the medium 👍
@@JordanWatkinsRacingmay I ask your inseam length and your saddle height? I'm 178 x 82cm inseam (long torso BTW). I just ordered the M (wating for payment) It should be okay but I’d like to understand what size the bike is set to in the video (Coming from a M/L gen 8 madone)
I am also wondering which size I should get, I'm also 173 cm (82.5 cm inseam) haha. What's size do yo get?
Enjoy, have the same one…
This and the Factor Ostro Vam are currently on my list. I like the look of the Ostro because all the parts are customisable to your fit, it weighs less than the canyon, and has been proven to be more aero. But here in the UK I'd be paying around £2-3k more. What are your thoughts?
The Factors are great bikes super fast and aero. Though as you mentioned significantly more expensive, I mean if we look at the bikes side by side really the only differences are weight and aero, but not by that much. Unless you're an elite racer looking for every possible gain and spitting hairs over watt saving and aero gains then maybe, but your paying over £2000 more for this. In my opinion, Canyon is the way to go, but if you have the money, go for what is best for you as a rider and what you want out of a bike!
@@JordanWatkinsRacing thanks for the reply and content! It was a great watch:)
I'm stuck between this and s5 atm
Difficult choice. Canyon claim this bike is the fastest in the peloton but 70% of aerodynamics is the body riding it. If you go for the Aeroad at least in australia they cost $9,899 new vs an S5 at $13,200 in Ultegra. That's a good wheel set to upgrade to for the price difference. My choice. Aeroad!
@@JordanWatkinsRacing Yeah def, but i'd swap out the wheels on canyon though. Difference between speed is like 2 watts so idc about that personally. It's mostly appearance ig. Both look rlly good and are fast
Good analysis, this bike is so awesome, just got mine a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately Canyon US won't have the Aero extensions for another several months!!! :( Did you also put the Aero drop bars on it? What tire PSI are you running?
Yeah, I'm super pleased with it. You may be able to order the TT bars with a vpn. At the moment I'm running the standard drops and depending terrain for racing I usually run from 60-65psi.
How do you find the length of the TT-bar? for me it was to short to be able to get a decent fit in TT-position sadly! Otherwise i agree, great bike! upgraded with the TT-drops which i find awesome!
I find the set-up/lengh great, as for Junior racing I don't see Time Trials over 20km, I have recently done longer 3-hour rides and it's been great. I did get a professional bike fit to be as aero and fast as possible using this bar, which I do recommend if you can't seem to get the right position!
💯🔥
Hi, any chance you could share some thoughts on how the Aeroad compares to something else, maybe some lightweight/climbing bike? I have Ultimate SLX and I'm considering getting Aeroed.
Thanks for the suggestion. Climbing bikes and aero bikes are great to do videos on. The lines are bluring between what defines an aero bike and a climbing bike though as we saw Kasia Niewiadoma win the TDFF on the Aeroad!
nice!! i just got mine 2 weeks ago too!! I'm keen to get the TT bar add-on, thanks for covering it on your video!
Thanks mate! TT bars are wicked. Definitely worth if your doing tt but don't want to invest in a full set up!
@@JordanWatkinsRacing There is no way to adjust the angle for these right (except for the front thingies)?
@@d0neall_ Yeah only the grips on the end!
@@JordanWatkinsRacing Thats a shame. Canyon knows what they are doing and its a bummer. A spacer (set) will be sold for 100+ soon instead of including a single angle spacer with the 500+ product.
Light Bicycle is a great option for wheels.
Love it! 💯
Happy NBD!
