Checking the final results, they won the event by a minute and 17 seconds from Francois Duval/Sven Smeets in 2nd place! "Convincing" doesn't even get close to describing such a powerful victory, in such a competitive era for the sport. Marvellous!

For all those born too late :) -- this is not McRae. This is his team-mate from the Subaru WRC times, Pierro Liatti -- an Italian tarmac specialist (he didn't do too badly on gravel, though). The co-driver is Fabrizia Pons.

Thanks again for the post ! I was there, it was amazing, such great memories... spoke to one on the competitors Duval from Belgium. He was amazed at the weather saying it was all types of rally racing in one weekend. They had cancelled some of the specials due to the heavy snow, one of the specials they did not cancel ended up in a massive dozen car pyle up. They don't talk about it in this video. After the rally we were so pumped, went back to Montreal in my friends sooped up Jetta with a radar detector doing 180km/ h lol never did Montreal / charlevoix so fast lol 🤘👍

I was there spectating this rally! I was just 9years old at thst time.. guess what, That service park and most of the rally stage (including this stage) is just 10km away from where i live now... 🍻

Good morning, could someone correct the date of the video? It is clear that colin mcrae in 1999 was with the ford focus and not with the subaru impreza, so this can only be from 1997 and 1998 by decree law. A greeting from Spain .

The safety concerns are valid, but you have to remember that this was a really short and, as is clearly visible, a really technical, slow stage. There was no massive time to win or lose there. But I do agree that to allow spectators so close in the late 90's was sub-standard. These indeed were times when rallying was very popular in Poland. Hardly comparable to nowadays.

It didn't have traction control either! 😣😣😣 the diffs would lock under braking and had an electronic brake biasing system so 1 no need for TC and 2 the drivers didn't want it! Back then the drivers preferred to work the traction with the throttle brakes and diffs!

Where do these mfk's get their information??? It didn't have an active rear diff yet either! And it had more like 310 bhp in 95 once it was restricted! In 93 it came romping out with 365 brake, with the cossie and celiac both on 355 bhp the mitsi had a crazy 385!!! At the time! These cars never got restricted until the start of 1995!
