Glasgow, A Step Back In Time Episode 3
We have now arrived at Episode 3 of Glasgow, A Step Back In Time video. Once again, a wee change from my drone videos, another nostalgic look back at Glasgow's past though the medium of old grainy black and white camera pictures. I have been inspired by many of the pictures I have viewed from Facebook pages and other sources over the years and have pulled some of my favourites together into another small video.

I live in haddington like I commented on your st markins kirk. Remember me?
👍
I remember going to see Kellys Heroes at the Playhouse - must have been 1970/71
Great wee film ,
Thank you. 👍🏻
How can we eat such a wee cutie. But they are tasty, yummy yummy. Having said that I do prefer free range. When I was younger it was always caged. But now you can get RSPCA approved, so much more humane .😂😅😊 love your work Droneman.
Thanks Derek, its comment from you guys that keep me going. As you are a wee bit far from these shores, is there anything you would like me to cover? 👍
if only some of the old shops were still here to day thanks again cheers
Hi James, glad you enjoyed the video. 👍
I think someone should take some wild haggis ower tae America and release them intae the Rocky Mountain range. They’d thrive and within a few years there wid be nothing thon Yanks could dae aboot it. 😂😂😂😂
Thanks for the comment John, that made me 🤣😂🤣😂🤣👍
I don't think that's a good idea. Think of the environmental impact. I just don't think that you have thought this thing through. They would strat to compete with the native animals, push out some vulnerable species out of their native habitat. Can you imagine a big raccoon up against a Haggis, see you Jimmy, raccoon. Am gonni have you , your mince. If you can come up with a better idea then am willing to listen, maybe even investigate, but until then, keep your day job. Oh, a couple of names for your export company. Just Haggis or Haggis World. Oh what about Haggis 4 you. Network them fling them round the room. 😮😮😊😊😅😅😂 sorry take care
Well done, Droneman, Dronegirl. Love the history. Love your work ❤ Thanks for the opportunity for another keyring ,but i have more than enough. 😅😊😂👏👏🙌👏🙌👏
Hi Derek, thanks for your comment. Regarding keyrings, I get comments from people who have found the keyrings and if I'm in the area, I will always have a look to see if it is gone, and so far, they all have bar one. I walk past a keyring on my way to my favourite watering hole in Musselburgh on a weekly basis and it is still there. 👍
Hey Droneman remember you gave me some when we met when I was in Scotland. Thanks again
@ I certainly do, made my day a guy from Australia seeking me out to get a keyring. 👍👍
Great video...
Thanks John glad you enjoyed it 👍
Sad the iconic Brunton will soon be longer .. this footage is gold for future generations.
Hi, thanks for the comment. This is one reason I enjoy flying the drone through the towns of East Lothian as things change all the time. 👍
The commentary on this video is outstanding as is the footage itself. Have a personal memory of this place. Thank you 🙏
Thank you very much and thanks for the comment. 👍
Very interesting video with great commentary! Hope these buildings can be put to good use! Thoroughly enjoyed this!! ❤
Glad you enjoyed and thanks for watching. 👍
I can only hope these fine old buildings are to be used, kept in public ownership and not hit by the wrecking ball, like too many of Scotland's historic buildings. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the comment Derek. 👍
Interesting video thanks for sharing .
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the comment. 👍
i hope they are going to convert the old buildings into the new houses and not demolish them, great video and info.
Maybe student accommodation
I hope so too, thanks for the comment.
No, think it will be more along the lines of sheltered housing. Thanks for the comment. 👍
Like.
Thanks 👍
My Father passed away in February 1997 at Herdmanflat Hospital. The doctor’s houses have been abandoned for many years. A disgraceful waste of what were perfectly good houses.
Agreed, but when you look at the East Fortune hospital which has been badly vandalised, at least they have kept what is left secure. Thanks for your comment. 👍

Who controls the council out of interest?
No idea. 👍
Beautiful buildings, probably be redeveloped by some builder.
Hi Peter, when you watch the video on Friday, you will find out its fate. 👍
It's actually Herdmanflat, without the s
Oops, thanks for picking that up, it has now been changed. 👍
You definitely need to go inside it
I would loved to have went inside. I even got in contact with an old colleague at NHS to get access but then found out it has been sold to East Lothian council. 👍
I can remember hearing a record of Obla Dee not by the Beatles,it must have been Marmalade. The only hit they had in the United States was Reflections of My Life.Paul McCartney's brother Mike was in the Scaffolds.
Mike McCartney became Mike McGear and had a pretty successful solo career. He penned one of my favourite 70's tracks called "Leave It" ruclips.net/video/LBS0iLH2mJ8/видео.html
A good year for music in the UK
It certainly was. 👍
WRONG !!!!!!!!! Ruby by Kenny Rogers only reached number 2 in the UK charts.
Yes, you are correct, but I did not want to include Two Little boys by Rolf Harris.
@@DronemanScotland Fair play but can`t change history mate !
Agreed, maybe I should have explained this, thanks for the comment. 👍
One wonders why a tunnel was constructed in the first place? R I P
You are not the first to ask that question, thanks for the comment. 👍
Wow 😍
👍
There are many standing stones throughout Scotland. Recent archeological evidence suggests that standing stone construction started in the northern isles and spread down through the mainland.. meaning Stonehenge is a “more recent “ addition
Thanks for the info Andrew, and thanks for the comment. 👍👍
I didn’t know that 😮it’s amazing what’s out there that we don’t know about 👍
So true. 👍
Every one still stuck in my brains, now I know I'm old ! Also to Tommy C , did your da work in dss and play footie with Drumore ? If so he was a really good guy.
👍
Brilliant as always, few names there not songs I couldn't remember

It certainly was Tommy, great track. Thanks for the comment. 👍
Well done, Droneman, Dronegirl, and Droneboy. Hmmmmm Pineapples in Scotland. My mates grunda was a gardener in a estate at Carlops near Peniquick, they used to grow grapes in a greenhouse there. Hmmmm Grapes in Scotland. Thanks again for your hard work.
Grapes in Scotland does seem a stretch, but I suppose if the conditions are good, why not. Thanks for your support over the last couple of years, it is very much appreciated. 👍
Worth a visit. It’s beautiful.
It certainly is, thanks for your comment. 👍
That’s some great camera work there I have to say. 😂 Beautiful video, you captured it perfectly and it was superbly out together. Well done.
Glad you enjoyed it, and glad you enjoyed your day out, roll on the next one. 😊👍
beautiful piece of architecture
It really is, great wee place to visit. Thanks for your comment. 👍
magnificent folly and still kept in good condition well worth the drive , come on folks Subscribe to this great team it dose not cost a penny thanks again cheers
Thanks James, and thank you for your support. 👍
Great video! I’ve recently done some reading into the Earl, and how he made his money, a bit of an eye opener to say the least.
Interesting, will need to do a wee bit reading. thanks for watching. 👍
The rich rat probably bought himself out of trouble after getting his men killed for nothing in America. Nothing new within our so called aristocratic society to this day. Obviously it was the Italians craft work, as our secret societies again to this day will never recognise their talents. Simply ignore others.
👍
That looked fun.
It certainly was. 👍
This looks a bit overgrown, was it easy to get too?
Yes, pretty easy, but if it is wet, wear wellies. 👍
Not too far from me but never been.
Why not, it is a great wee place to visit. Thanks for your comment. 👍
Not too far from Dunmore house I believe.
It certainly is, but in the summer it is easy to miss, nature has really taken it back. Thanks for your comment. 👍
Would love to visit this place.
Pretty easy to get to if you drive. 👍
Remember this place well, it was always cold.
I cannot remember going there, but you are not the first person to say it was a cold place. 👍
Would love to visit this place.
Easy to reach, but it is about a mile walk from the road up a track. 👍
This was great to watch, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
A very pretty flower, not a weed as many people believe.
Agreed 👍
Another educational question, thank you.
Our pleasure, hope you got it right. 🤣🤣👍
What a great occasion.
Its a great charity to support. 👍
On my places to visit now that I have retired.
I am sure you will not be disappointed. 👍
Ah, my home town and my favourite pub 😊
Yes, one of my favourite drinking holes as well. 👍
