How to lay thin brick over drywall or rock lathe
Просмотров 9 тыс.2 года назад
in this short film we show how to transform a living area with thin brick veneer. Please ask any questions I always read comments!
What did you use to adhere the brick to the wall? Thanks!
Hello. We found that the Gorilla glue construction adhesive worked the best. It had the quickest grab too.
Which one on Amazon is it? Thanks
@@nickdesai6829 they're pretty much all the same I think. They range from 29-39 bucks.
Man, you kinda suck at that. your all over the place stopping and starting. Find a rhythm and go. Hard to watch but a helpful video thanks.
@@marvel6911 Sorry I'm not up to your stringent standards. Perhaps you could post some videos of how good you are?
😂😂😂❤❤❤@@diybricklaying5568
I just received my pointing gun today, as in this video. How do I get a drill to attach to the back end of this implement?
@@trischmanderson3063 should just chuck up normally like any drill bit would.
Hi bud i bought the original one from masons mortar nearly £400 I tried it with an nhl lime mortar mix using sharp sand and it just kept clogging up New nozels can be made on a 3D printer
That's the main issue I've had with it....tip replacement. Nice idea on the 3d printer
i love a tool that makes work easier... problem with this tool is that mortar has to be pushed inn as much as you possibly can and here just not happening.🤔
It actually forces the mud to the back of the joint when the drill is turned to high speed. So far so good. Thanks for checking out the video
It's not full bed bud
@@marvel6911 But it looks great, and by the time it falls out we are paid !
I use this for my carp boilies
Good idea
Can you link to exact gun you're using?
It's just one of the 30-40 dollar jobs. They're all the same really....China made.
What mix did you use mate to get a good flow with the gun ! 👍🏻
Just 3 parts sand to one part mortar. No additives like polymers ect.
What sand mate and lime and cement yeah 👍🏻
@@zimzimer oh sorry this was white mortar (type N) and 2 parts mason sand and then 1 part arena sand...(white silica sand). That is what it's all called here in the states.
Was that dry wall? Thanks
It was rock lathe....which is basically the same thing. I did another one for a friend over drywall and it was the exact same process.
@@diybricklaying5568 thank you for your answer
Thanks for this video!
You're welcome
I bought one based on this video. I used it for the first time yesterday. For me, this was a game changer. It was easy to use, less mess, and damn near doubled my work speed. I'm not a mason by trade. I only bought it to restore my 800 yr old stone house. It was worth every penny.
@@josephnova Yes indeed. Money maker for us too!
Does the gun still work now mate ? Ive read reviews and people are abusing this tool lol.
Still working just fine. After hrs of use my one complaint are the plastic tips supplied. The threads eventually strip out. Be great if they were aluminum or a mild steel even.
@@diybricklaying5568so it’s the same issue the coxx pointing guns have. The plastic wears down. Does the supplier sell the nosils separately?
What was the tools used to scrape the joints and what method did you use for spacing the bricks?
Hello. This was struck (tooled) with a dowel rod sharpened down to more of a point. Stick striking brings out the sand for a rougher, older look. I spaced the joints out using a brick spacing rule. They can found at lowes ect.
Where do you find white mortar
Is it the ultra flex thinset tile mortar mixed with type s mortar?
@@offshore557 Sorry for missing this. I just used some white Mortar from my local brick yard....mixed with some regular sand and also a little silica (quikrete arena) sand.
What color thin brick did you use and what color grout ? Thanks for your time. BTW it looks great
Sorry for late reply. This was the old chicago vino??? I think. The mortar was a custom mix. I used two parts regular mason sand to one part white sand with white mortar. My Wife didn't want it to be completely white. Thanks!
Where do you buy type s white mortar
Love the final product!!! Looks great😀
Well thank you!😉
Looks good.
Thanks!
