Regarding GPC discussion at 34:20 and 55:00- two months after this presentation California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced a $1.2MM settlement with Sephora saying that Sephora "failed to disclose to consumers that it was selling their personal information, [and] that it failed to process user requests to opt out of sale via user-enabled global privacy controls in violation of the CCPA." Thus Counselor Hahn's suggestion to accept GPC signals is well taken., particularly in light of Proposed Regulation Section 7025 Opt-Out Preference Signals.

TL; DR California privacy Protection Agency is a group of unelected, unaccountable government bureaucrats acting above the law. The board, which receives $10 million per year, was established to enforce “rights“ that are supposed to be protected under CCPA and CPRA under California Civil Code 1798, voted on and funded by California voters. The board consists of appointees. These appointees use sub appointees to carry out the actual processing. This provides a layer between the board members and actual work. These “rights“ include, among others, the right to data portability and data deletion. Consumers wishing to have their data removed or to port their data can contact the company in question, ask for that to happen, and reasonably expect that company to comply with the law. The law is so poorly known among consumers that very few people will actually try to exercise these rights. The board is perfectly happy with this, as it means an ignorant public unaware of their rights is less likely to file any complaints to the board regarding rights violations, thereby ensuring that the board has less work to do and can keep all of their hard stolen tax money - $10 million per annum. And so when users actually do try to exercise their rights, many companies will just ignore the user. So that’s where the board comes in. When the user reports for the board to get his rights up and violated and they were not able to port their data or have their data deleted, the board is supposed to enforce the law. The board does not enforce the law. I have reported a number of websites to the board and always get back a similar response. The board does not respond, but instead they use appointees who are not on the board to send back nondescript dismissals to inform you that they will not enforce the law. I used the online reporting system provided by the OAG website to report to the board that I was unable to request data deletion. The board used a non-board member sub-appointees to reply back with a pre-written form letter informing me of my rights, including data deletion. I have tried to assert my rights for data portability and data deletion approximately 8 times. Every violation I reported, was summarily dismissed by a board sub-appointee. The board members have some appointees who process these requests and send back form letters to the persons involved. I have received about eight of these. The last time I tried to reach out to a company to ask for data deletion, I was unable to obtain contact information. The company had no contact information published on their website. Through some googling, I was able to find the webmaster‘s email address and so I contacted him. I was ignored. I again filed a complaint through the CA OAG Consumer Privacy Interactive Tool. I received back a response from not anyone on the board, but from their sub appointees who process and dismiss all complaints. Behind mighty members of the board want to keep you ignorant of the law. They will process no complaints even though that is their job. They don’t do their job. What they do is receive your tax money. They are stealing. The most unethical dishonest people tasked with upholding your rights. They will continue to get away with it because they can. Nobody holds the OAG board accountable.

Thank you so much for having me on as a guest! Here are the recipes from the presentation. Loaded Sweet Potatoes Makes 4 servings 4 medium/large sweet potatoes, scrubbed, ends removed Yes-You-Can-Chili (recipe below) Tofu Sour Cream (recipe below) Finely chopped Kwik Kale (recipe below) Fresh Pico de gallo Optional Fresh toppings: Marinated Red Onions (recipe below), cilantro, halved cherry tomatoes, sliced scallions, chopped radishes, lime wedges, chopped arugula Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and set the sweet potatoes down on a parchment lined baking sheet. Roast in the oven for 45 minutes or until you can easily insert the tip of a knife into the potatoes. Meanwhile, prepare the Kwik Kale, chili & crema for the filling. When the potatoes are done, allow them to cool a bit, then when read to serve, place on 4 serving plates or bowls, slice along the top and squeeze to open. Top with about ½ - 1 cup of the chili. Top each serving with ¼ cup chopped Kwik Kale, Cashew & White Bean Crema and fresh ingredients like pico de gallo, chopped scallions, radishes and/or cilantro and a dash of hot sauce if you like more spice! Yes-You-Can Chili Here is a simple way to create a ridiculously yummy and satisfying chili by keeping basic pantry ingredients on hand. It’s all so simple, that at mealtime you’ll find yourself saying “Yes I can!”. Recipe adapted from PCRM 2 cans Black Beans (or 3 cups cooked beans) 1 16-ounce Jar Salsa of your choice (choose one for your spice tolerance). 1 teaspoon Cumin 1 cup Frozen Corn 1 Lime, juiced ½ cup chopped cilantro Drain beans and save liquid. Mix the beans, salsa, cumin and corn in a soup pot. Bring to a boil. Add reserved bean liquid or water and add to create desired consistency. Simmer for around 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the lime juice and cilantro just before serving. Serve by itself, cooled as a dip with baked tortilla chips, or hot as a meal over squash, cooked yams, sweet potatoes or a whole grain. Tofu Sour Cream 1 package silken tofu (12 ounces - shelf-stable), drained well 1 tablespoon light miso paste 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Chill to thicken. Marinated Red Onions 1 red onion, thinly sliced apple cider or white vinegar water Place the onions in a small bowl and pour apple cider vinegar and water to cover, about ½ and ½, or whatever ratio you like. Allow this mix to marinate for at least 10 minutes. Store covered in the refrigerator and use in salads, buddha bowls, tacos, you name it! BAKED Tortilla Chips 3 corn tortillas, cut into strips or chips Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and arrange the chips onto a parchment-lined cookie sheet. Don’t allow them to overlap. Bake for 10 minutes. If they’re not crisp, flip them over and bake for about 3 minutes longer, but watch for burning. Kwik Kale (AKA Get Yo Greens!) Everyone knows that kale is great for us, but most don’t have any idea how to prepare it. Here’s an extremely easy way to make kale not only edible, but delicious! Makes about 3-4 servings 1 bunch curly kale Lemon wedges, or Nut Parmesan or Gamasio (ground toasted sesame & salt) for topping 1. Heat a large pot of water to boiling. Add a pinch of salt if you wish. 2. Meanwhile prepare your kale by stripping off the leaves from the stem and tearing them into bite-sized pieces. 3. When the water is at a good boil, add the kale, submerging it in the water. Allow it to cook for 1-2 minutes, until bright green and tender, and remove immediately from the water into a colander to drain. Serve topped with suggested toppings or your favorite vegan sauce or believe it or not, we love it plain! Raw Berry Compote Makes 2 cups Recipe by Tracy Childs While most compotes are made from cooked fruit, this one is raw. The chia seeds and dates give it an amazing, thick consistency. It is also one of the most versatile recipes! Use it as you would jelly on toast, oatmeal and pancakes, or for a fruity topping for any dessert. It’s also very tasty plain! Not too sweet or too tart! You could also add some cranberries to make an amazing cranberry sauce for holiday meals. INGREDIENTS: 2-3 cups frozen mixed berries, mostly or completely thawed 1 tablespoon ground chia seeds - see note 2 tablespoons to ¼ cup dates, pitted - see note METHOD: 1. Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender until berries and dates are chopped to a fairly smooth consistency. 2. Pour into a container and chill at least four hours or overnight, until thickened. 3. Serve with sweets for dessert, or with hot cereal or toast and nut butter for breakfast. CHEF’S NOTES: 1. Fresh berries may be used. 2. Add additional chia seeds if a thicker consistency is desired 3. Add the greater number dates for a sweeter compote.
