My latest composition - not flamenco this time. Written on guitar, but this one is done in Guitar Pro 8. Eventually I'm hoping to record this once I have all the equipment I need. Sorry about the midi drums :)

I just love coming back to this composition of yours Mr flamenco Hendrix. Very tasty and beautiful. I've loved Holst - The Planets from when I first heard it in the 60s and was able to recognised it. In the 70s I was a record store manager and Isao Tomita released '''The Planets'' and there was a legal dispute by his living relatives. I loved his rendition of it. I think you recording is very fitting - even though you make comments to suggest you'd like to re-visit it. Nothing wrong with midi drums. Perhaps you don't like the voices you have used. I buy plugins from Spitfire Audio - an amazing company recording at Abbey Road and they have a Free Plugin section. It's called LABS. I think with Drums, you have to have several plugins to get the sound you really want. I once asked a drummer to lay down drums for my track (in the 90s) and he listened to the midi drumming that I had laid down and asked why I wanted a real drummer. Drums don't have to be fancy. It's mostly about feel. I think you have an appropriate feel/sound and it fits in the mix nicely without attracting attention to itself. I often struggle to get drums right in the mix, because I wanted to hear what I have played myself. So I have a lot of admiration for what you have achieved in this recording.
Thank you! I agree, there's a lot more that could be done with the drums and I'm sure they could add a lot to the compositions, but having kept it simple also works. As a listener I believe the composition itself is the most important and if as a non-drummer I'd start messing around with something I haven't much idea about, it might well diminish the experience. I've never quite finished this series of compositions, there's another one that I never uploaded and I have many other ideas, but recently I've concentrated on flamenco, which is my absolute first love. If you're interested, I've uploaded all my compositions into a playlist; some of them I want to record properly and perhaps release them as an album later on. @@xirdneHimiJ Yes, thank you for the link. I have been listening to them this afternoon. I agree with your comments. I have ruined some hard work in midi work. Always best to save versions - but the other day I came across a composition for my wife that I had re-recorded - but there were so many versions of it. That can become a problem too. Take care.

Warm regards to you Richard. Nice composition. Been waiting to hear you play again. You still have way more technique and knowledge/ timing than myself. I find it's important to record pieces even if you haven't mastered how you wish it to be played. In my case, I can literally forget how to play a piece after 2 weeks if I don't keep playing. I hope you are keeping safe in this world.
Thanks for your kind words Steve. I composed this yeeeears ago, I had just added a different ending here. I recorded this about 2 years ago when I got my new guitar, I just happened to stumble upon it and thought it was okay enough to make it public. I actually transcribe everything I create so I can always re-learn without referring to a video, thankfully. Take care!

@@xirdneHimiJ he's always been very distinctly a tier down from whoever the top players were of any given time (as far as I can tell). that video on here with him, nino puro, and another guy whose name i should remember, both those dudes absolutely killed him when they took turns doing falsetas
