Great video. In your experience, what was availability like for tee times? We are thinking of visiting East Lothian next year and Dunbar is on our list

As many have said before me, ranking doesn't do it justice. I first discovered Silloth during a holiday with my family in 2013 staying up the road in Skinburness. We drove down past Silloth town and walked our dogs over the dunes often. My wife sussed me out when I kept throwing the stick further up over the dunes to get a better look at the golf course on the other side. It looked great! I managed to talk the organiser of an annual golf tour into including this in our schedule for the following year and I kept my fingers crossed that it would play as well as it looked. We played it on the way back down from a 5-day tour in September 2014. It delivered everything I hoped and more. A testing links with quite a few blind shots and fairways that look tiny from the tee, you have to pick a line, trust your swing, and you will be rewarded. We've played it 3 times since and it's on the roster for this year too, along with Seascale for our first time which also looks fun. Every time it's been in good nick, the weather has been decent but with a testing breeze. There is little argument from anyone on our tour that Silloth is the best and most enjoyable links, and up there with the best value course we've played on our 30 years + of touring Scotland and Northern England. Courses played include Troon, Turnberry, Gales, Nairn, several other noted greats, and many other highly ranked tracks. A colleague of mine at work, who is a golf nut, grew up in the area and had never played it. Needless to say I sent him selfies from the course for a few years before he finally managed to get a game there and he loved it too.

Discovered this gem of a golf course back in 1976 after reading an article in 'Golf World' by the late great Peter Alliss, he recommended to all who were travelling North to play 'The Greats' to stop off at Silloth, I took his advice and fell in love the place, not just the course but the town the people and most of all the members and staff at the club, we were made to feel very welcome. Over the following 25 years I made many visits to the club, introducing quite a few of my golfing friends who, without exception also loved the place. The green fees at the time of my first visit were somewhat extortionate though, £2 per day or £8 for a 5 day ticket! Needless to say we never got any further that week, we got B&B in the town and stayed put.

Nicely put together Ollie.Try to get one done at North Berwick and Gullane - also beautiful. It's a cracking stretch of coastline for a golfer this.
