There's not enough support for indie and amateur creators. This leaves people feeling discarded, ignored, and in extreme cases, broken.
Our heart breaks when people abandon their own lives instead of creating beauty for the world.
But with accessible training, resources, and a community of other like-minded artists, they'll get the inspiration and confidence they need to get things done.
They'll finally write that poem, finish that video, craft that sculpture: the one that keeps a grieving man from taking his own life, inspires a woman to start a world-changing non-profit, or heals the wounded heart of a bullied child.
If creators have support, they'll spend less time feeling lonely and lost, and more time making a beautiful world.

How to write a comedy sketch!
There are lots of different ways to approach sketch writing (some of which probably haven't been discovered yet!) but this is a simple structure that's helped me and a lot of other people.
Learn how to:
- set up the world of your sketch
- launch into "what's funny"
- escalate to your conclusion

Which book should I start
Great books!
So true I go to threapy i paint i should paint again i also draw and embroider somewhat but not been feeling motivated kinda wanna make bracelets i have adhd anxiety and depression it can be a struggle to stick to one project and complete it im trying to work things out to be more productive and creative but also more functional as a person in general
I have ADHD, anxiety, and depression too! It's hard to balance sometimes, and I think one thing we often do to ourselves is set our standards SO HIGH that it can make creativity not fun anymore. So I try to remember that if I make something a chore, my ADHD won't wanna do it, lol. We have to find other, softer, more fun ways to motivate ourselves and that works best!
@@makegoodcreativenetwork8953 ya I'm a perfectionist so it's hard to find motivation to do thing like art cuz I view it as a chore thinking of just drawing and painting without caring what the end product is
What I usually suggest to people dealing with perfectionism is this: make purposefully BAD art! Sit down and tell yourself "I'm going to make the worst drawing I've ever made." it's ton of fun and very freeing, especially because it shows you that you know what "bad" looks like.
@@makegoodcreativenetwork8953 ya definitely gonna try that I hope it helps
I like you powerful eyes! Thanks for the tips.
Haha they definitely get intense when I line them. Thank you so much! I'm glad the video was helpful.
Great breakdown! Can’t wait to see you breakdown buttons/endings which I’ve also found to be the most difficult but often the most rewarding when pulled off. (Sometime though I will have a button in mind and have to figure out the sketch in reverse haha!) Would also love to see you break down the differences between improv and sketch (also where they compliment) like how each differently handle things like the platform and conflict Also would love to see your thoughts on using a release of tension between beats as a means to escalate the action even more! Great work! Clearly and excellent teacher ^_^
Starting from a button is a great idea, I will have to mention that in the video! I'm actually working on a blog article right now about the differences between improv, sketch, and standup. I'll probably do more about it now that you mention so we can compare them more! That's a great idea, too, about releasing tension. I can think of a couple of sketches that do a great job with that. I'll definitely do more on the format and how to use rising tension effectively! Thank you so much for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed, given that you were MY first sketch teacher! ;)
The WKUK namedrop is very appreciated
They are one of my FAVORITE groups, so I'm glad you enjoyed it!
This is very informative. Thanks!
I am so glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching!!
Cheers thank you! this video was very helpful:)
I'm so glad it helped!! I'll be making more videos about sketches soon so keep an eye out for those.
Thanks for the random wholesomeness, kind stranger on the internet. 👍

Totally not going to troll…. Watched a few of your videos and super cool that your published and teach…. Really is cool and I know it takes a lot to make videos and put yourself out there… that can be scary in itself…mean reason I know I have great jokes but I’m terrified of the stage… but my question is you have been doing these videos for a few years and still have under 1k views on most… how are u approaching building that or is there other platforms that your seeing more views…lol I’m old I want to take both the stage and you tube and hope to get a following fast… again lol old so time isn’t my friend… just looking for any other options or more on ways to be successful and overcome struggles
This is a great question! There are a few things I haven't been doing that can definitely help growth more, I just haven't had the time. For one, RUclips shorts are performing great right now. Most comedians I know post primarily short, funny reels on instagram, TikTok, and RUclips shorts. You can post the same one on each. In fact, on my personal channel (this one is more of an advice channel) I post my standup and it does pretty well, and it's not even high-quality audio or video. What will really help is jumping on top of trends... I am bad at that. You can see none of my videos use trendy music or hop on trending topics. If you follow trends and make your own spin on other's creations, like using an audio that's popular on TikTok, then you'll see more growth. I just don't like keeping up with trends, so for my own sanity I don't do that as much, but it does keep my numbers down!
I also recommend, if you're interested in getting onstage, taking an improv or standup class. It'll help you build your confidence before jumping in, and also build your network!
@@makegoodcreativenetwork8953 thank you for the insight and where are you posting your stand up at… I’d like to show some support
Thank you so much! I do a lot of different things on my other channel, but here's the standup playlist: ruclips.net/p/PL528-P6j7b-3y7-Md3ABCxn4u91Ihwm0x Thank you for watching and supporting!
Great video
Thank you so much for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed.
Just came across another video and enjoyed it now looking at your other videos…. I’m a inspiring comedian who hasn’t performed live yet but writes a ton and looking for insight on stand up to make set better… great video
Thank you so much for watching!! I'm so glad you found it helpful. Have you watched my 5 books to make you funnier video? It's in my Comedians playlist and you will probably be very interested in those books to help your standup!
lol let’s go Bucees!!! It’s a Texas thing truly if you know ….you know
Half of my wardrobe is Buccee's lololol
Mam, why do men think women are not funny?
Sexism. Thinking one gender can't do a thing just because of their gender is just plain sexism. It's something they should work on and get over.
What book would U recommend for person who is starting with comedy and who just want to be a funny person with friends? And nevertheless how to be funny like Liza Koshy this is my role funny model or Jennifer Lawrence. Kudos for giving the people hope
Thank you so much for watching!! I'd suggest you start with one of the stand-up specific books. Comic Insights, The Art of Stand-up Comedy by Franklyn Ajaye, or Tao of Comedy by Bobbie Oliver. Those two books will help you find what's really funny about *you*, which can help you both with stand-up and being funny around your friends. I also recommend taking an improv class, if they're offered in your area! If not, you can take something online. Improv comedy will help you gain confidence and express your funny. Coupled with the books, you'll find your comedic voice in the most fun way possible. Let me know if you try the books and enjoy them! Thanks again for watching.
@@makegoodcreativenetwork8953Could U recommend a book teacqh me how to create and tell funny stories Like Jennifer Lawrence? Im reading comic insights this is a great book and in my view IT is too advanced for me cóż IT teach US how to perform. I send U my love
@@makegoodcreativenetwork8953 I need tools Like rule of 3 structures of comedy incongruency and how to USe IT please help me
Sorry it's taken me so long to reply, RUclips hides comments and makes it hard to respond sometimes. That's awesome that you're reading the book! If you want to start with structure, I recommend What Are You Laughing At? But if you are starting from zero, I would definitely recommend an improv class. Improv will show you how comedy works in the best most fun way!
@@makegoodcreativenetwork8953 thanx for recommedation

Are these books only for writing? Or these books will help me be more funny when I speak?
All of them except for the first one, Writing Down the Bones, will help with being funnier when you speak! If being funnier in conversation is your goal, I recommend starting with What Are You Laughing At? If you're interested in stand-up at all, start with Comic Insights. Thanks for the question! Hope these help.

Thank you so much for watching! I'm glad you found it helpful.
Thanks! Do you have any experience with the Pack Theater? I'm not sure if I should take a writing class there or UCB.
Thank you for asking! I don't have much experience with the Pack Theater. I will say, UCB has more name recognition, but Pack seems to have a smaller community, so if you want to make more of an impact right away, that might be best. Also, if you're experienced, Pack might be better, because they're more focused on advanced comedians. I hope this helps, even with my limited exposure to Pack!
Thanks! :D@@makegoodcreativenetwork8953
I recently watching videos of shooting from the hip...I was like is that what real improve is?...boss that's rlly impressive...but can someone narrate a comedic scene like them on stage?
They are a great example! That's totally what improv is like in many places in the US. I've been in shows that did exactly what they do... of course everything is different every time, but in terms of structure and also the magic that comes from it, definitely!
1) burning down the bones 2) comedy manual 3) the art of stand-up comedy 4) the tao of comedy 5) What are you laughing at
Do you have a favorite? Links to buy the books are provided in the description!

Hi! Are you wondering how you can make comedy without filming it? You could try putting on live shows! There might be comedy groups in your area already trying this, maybe you could join them?

He is the best part of every video.
Wow. It's May 2023 and I am still unemployed but have had some great book ideas for ten years. I just watched this and I LOVE it! I am delightfully gobsmacked by ALL those ideas...it's as though you are a brain mechanic who just lifted the hood of my particular brain and said, " Mm-hm...mm-hm...OK...here's what you need to do..." I had been considering short evening naps...but you went further into the idea by suggesting: intentionally experimenting with different time blocking until you wiggle into something that works well; and by leaning into ALL the habits but with great, positive alchemy attached to them. This is genius! Brava! And thank you so much! Long may you thrive and prosper!
Oh my gosh, I'm SO HAPPY you found this helpful! This is also one of my favorite videos because it's only recently I leaned into some of my quirks and started to find what really works for me.
