DIY Floating Shelf With Reclaim Look. *Easy*
Просмотров 216Год назад
Here I show you how to turn a new piece of wood into one with a worn/ reclaimed look. Not everyone has a real reclaimed piece of wood available that’s the right size for their project, so I’m showing you a way to get the look you want right off the “shelf” at your local hardware store. I just bought a PHJ from China for $8. At that price why would anyone not have one in their toolbox?
A proper tip would be to start with a spade bit the same size as the head of your screw just deep enough to hide the screw head. Then finish the hole will a 1/8 bit
Omg I can't tell if this is a joke video or not lmaooooo
Awesome build, what sand paper size did you use?
I think you have discovered the method that the creation of the jig simplified and improved
Appreciate this my man
Love this! Liked and subscribed.
Thanks man you did this very well and nicely explained
I just spent $70 on this Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane and it looks like garbage
Was looking for something stylish for my yard. Thanks for the vid and the stop idea as well.
Thank you cuz I don't have the money for this special tool for pocket holes
Just buy the dam jig
Slats the same wood as the frame ?
He just figured out toenailing.
Lol Buy the kreg jig, it's worth it. And its not 100$ maybe 50 or 60
@@ChiefDirtyBird it’s for when you don’t have one and need a simple/non fancy pocket hole
Excellent tip! I do have the Kreg, and the only reason I like it better than your method is that the depth of the larger of the two shafts is fixed. This in turn allows me to control the depth of the pilot hole for the screw after it passes through the Kreg hole into the receiving plank. I measure and put tape on the pilot hole bit to prevent me from overdrilling through the other side...because the Kreg hole is of a consistent depth
And you still have half a pencil left! One more sharpening and then buy another one. Certainly these pencils are meant to be sharpened with the staple tools any mason or carpenter has on hand always.
Gay
Thanks.
Pocket holes go on the outside of a 90* joint
Nice y❤
Just one problem with this: you didn't make a pilot hole for the screw in the receiving piece. This means that you need to use expensive self-tapping screws for this method. This is not a full solution. A full solution should also work with cheap screws.
How is this renter friendly?
Excelente trabajo amigo
Great video!! Loved it.
Thanks! Glad you liked it
Was that a sander you used on the outer bowl’s exterior?
It was!
It used to remove bubbles and to help everything moved into the right place.
Hot water heater if your water is already hot, why are you heating it up?😂
Water is fed cold, water heater brings it up to temperature
@@CasaElements yes Water heater🫡
Putting the block into stop block 😅 I like it
You just earned a new subscriber. Well done!
Does anybody know how many 2x2’s to buy for this project? If he said, I missed it
Exactly the same as a post of DIY Huntress of 3 years ago.
Ok, so you do go all the way through or just half? I've seen folks say not all the way, and instead just as a pilot hole and let the screw make the break
I do it this style because I don’t make lots of pocket holes often and I drill all the way thru. Seems to work fine
Building plan?
you got 666 subscribers, you really need me to escape from that number so you'll remember me as the user 667 :)
Thank you so much for sharing...do you have a plan for the frame?
Done it for years like this. The best upside for the jig though is if you get in a hurry, sometimes doing it freehand, the angle will be off. But yeah, it can be done without the angle
Thank you! Quick to the point and exactly what this woman needed to know!
I'm pretty sure pocket holes don't actually go through the wood, they stop short of the edge
Bro $9 on amazon......just saying
Nope.
That turned out very nice!
💯 thank you.
Damn $44 and 24hrs late😂
Your stop block: simple, good idea.
Useless. Whole point of carpenters pencil is to reveal a flat pencil tip. If you sharpen to a round point it defeats the purpose!
Well done great video thanks for the great idea and so easy to do!
200 bucks for a jig just to do something our grandparents did is gross
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! No jig and I have to finish this cabinet. The price on Kreg is outrageous at $100 for a piddly bit of plastic made in China. I have to devise my own angled slot. Milescraft is a more reasonable price folks and just as accurate, by the way. $25 instead of $40 for basic model.
So, that’s about $45-$50 in materials you figure?
One word...Pica.
