Well, this is very helpful to get the front panel off, thanks, but my Speed Queen is only about 3 years old and in great shape and I don't think I need to clean it to this level yet. What I do need to do is find and fix a leak on the rear right of the washer. A very small leak, but it's there, and only appears after the washer has been running for about 7-8 minutes. Drain hoses and fill hoses seem fine. I need to find a way to access the back, so will see if I can get the back panel off the same way as the front. Definitely saving this video for future reference!

Loved the video, just what I was looking for. I enjoyed your presentation. To those taking time to complain about the speed of the written instructions and/or the music...you gave the power to turn down the volume and pause the video to read ar your own pace. Just say thank you and move on.

Used a winch strap slid under the agitator for leverage. took a bit of muscle still but popped right out with no casualties also used a watering can to rinse the inside of the attached basin put it on spin to drain. Great video! Saved me money and gave me an oportunity to take stuff apart

There is no audio commentary, so mute the music if it's not your jam. If it's too fast to read and you don't want to pause it. Go to the settings ( the little gear at the top next to the closed caption box) and you can speed up or slow down any videos play back speed.

I was unable to get the agitator off with my muscle power but found a trick, also on the internet, that worked really well. Put an uninflated bicycle tire tube underneath the agitator and then pump the tube up. Popped right off! Spent $7.49 instead of approximately $50 for the agitator removal tool parts. Would also be helpful to have which way to turn the socket wrench to unscrew the inner wash tub screws. They were so tight that I couldn't tell. Great video, so helpful. A fun FYI, I emailed Speed Queen for technical assistance...and they sent me the link for your video! Great job, :)

I think this would be a lot more helpful if it was an actual video (instead of still pictures) showing how the pieces come apart? I actually like the music but would also like some commentary on how each step is accomplished.

Kim - thank you for this video! It is the only place I have been able to find a picture of what the washer looks like *after* the agitator has been removed. Our agitator is busted (broken fins) and we need to replace it. Looks like we're going to hacksaw the top off and remove it using a combination of muscle, interior leverage and WD-40. These beasts are clearly not meant to be disassembled. Also, the music is great!

I wonder if that product CLR would be safe to use for getting behind the wash tube......except they said that because of water conservation the water never reaches the top two inches of the tub. Also I wouldn't know what products would be harmful to the seals. Hmmmm?

I have a Speed Queen washer and dryer that are about 6 years old. For the first few years I had them, they were used pretty heavy by additional people in the household and others who needed to use it to do their laundry - I'm going to say a good 10-12 loads per week. I have no idea how I didn't know this, but I only just discovered (by accident) that there is an area under the softener dispenser (inside the agitator shaft) that gets absolutely disgustingly dirty and moldy if not cleaned. I've never cleaned mine. I was pulling a heavy quilt out of the washer today and it caught on the dispenser and pulled it off in one piece, revealing that hidden chamber in the agitator shaft. I'm not putting anything else in that washer until I clean this... so gross! Just goes to show that you can get completely complacent about how 'clean' things are when you don't realize what's in those hidden areas.

Well, I finally found this AFTER we just did ALL of this except the outside of the inside tank. (I found NO help last night online) I think we will save that for the next scheduled cleaning. I will be doing a regular soaking in hot water with vinegar and some baking soda now that I know about this issue. Who would have thought! I love the washer, and I guess I am happy that #1: What we just went thru is now verified by this post, and #2: it was all accessible! Thank you for posting this. This is EXACTLY what I was wishing I would have done from the begining of our project, but it was NOT a planned project. I will be sending this link to my cousin. (BTW, ours was way worse than this and I don't use fabric softener which is what I would have thought would have made one so bad)

Good video to up skill youth and unemployed to gain experience and practice on unused machines...perhaps maintenance costs will be much cheaper and competition to those so called professional appliance techs that charge us ridiculous high prices that is close to economically priced new items, something manufacturers need to think of ,so that every town , city country have an accessible ratio of 1 : 30 MACHINES in every designated area that these machines are sold to, companys should have data stats to support this idea...

I just bought one of these washers, superb machine. Excellent video on maintenance for the speed queen, and the basic idea pertains to other brands as well. Keeping it clean like this should help extend component life and guarantee clean smelling clothes. Most people don't realize the harsh environment washers have to endure.
