Nice review. I have the winwing set up and trying to get it mapped to msfs. Not having much luck. Just don’t seem to understand all the settings needed. I am not ready for dcs yet. Was hoping to get better with the system through msfs first. There are some questions if you have time. Thanks. Dave banks.

You in no way at all had to remove the fan shroud. This is thee most cringe video. If you can even read a highly praised brand pike NOCTUA... You shouldnt be doing anything in a card. And no card needs pads/paste after six months dude.... i have been doing custom loops for the last 12 years thiugh so im a bit snobby. I had to learn too. To each their own. All you had to do is 9 screws on the backplate and the 4 retention screws.

I tried that mod. It's bad. The implementation is not good to the mechanical movement. you can see the horizontal bar that the damper connects to get pulled in a different axis while you move it . this is bad. I removed the damper for now. you can fix it by aligning the damper axes to the horizontal moving bar. try to eliminate movement in a different axes axcepet the one that the horizontal is moving. cheers

When I run simapppro I download a file but when I hit run it turns orange not green. If I try again the program freezes up. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling sim app and the same thing happens. Any advice

If you bought the throttle section off eBay, then that's probably where your problem is. I bought the Thrustmaster combo and for the last five months I've beat the hell out of it with no problems noted. It was $541 including tax, so way too expensive, but I'm a Thrustmaster fan since the F22 stick days (what, 25 years ago?) and I'm happy with their products. BTW, the "Slap switch" is in the actual aircraft. The Block 60 is a specific UAE product (the country.)

I just purchased mine and waiting for it to come in. Ordered the metal warthog F18 setup with finger lifts. My MFG pedals came in two weeks ago. Next purchase is a Buttkicker game pro system. Been flying in DCS since late 2020

So you actually removed 4 way switch ... a winwing throttle feature...

The issue I have with the throttle is that the handle is too tilted back. If you compare it to the real one, in idle position, you can see that 1 - the antenna elevation dial is pointing downwards on the real one but in winwing's version it's pointing a bit forward. 2 - The cage/uncage button is pointing forward on the real one, is pointing to the sky on winwing's version.

I'm almost positive you just eliminated your cage button. The wheel function is the zoom for your TGP in the block 50. The forward and aft is the steer point up and down on the ICP.

If you attach scroll wheel with the four-way hat with detent. You'll lose the ability for the detent to cage. A few also a few lower the profile of the spin wheel. To do that, you're going to lose the ability to raise or lower your radar gain. That's what those purposes are for. 🤔 All of those are thumb wheels but hey to reach their own you know. Whatever makes you happy makes me happy. Okay I see now. You're not interested in a four-way hat with the detent. Just the RF gain. Okay it does look good. Looks pretty sweet. I will. Will get a pic of of the block 40 Aunt the newest F-16 that they'll let me show to the public. With that being said, awesome job brother!👊😎

Winwing told me that the 5 volts could be used for extra power, honestly, I tried it, and it worked fine but didn't help with anything, it was just another cable in the way.

The winwing seems to have the correct travel, the thrustmaster seems a lot shorter.

I'm a MSFS simmer and I fly in VR with a YAW motion simulator. I ordered the HF8 yesterday to enhance the immersion- hopefully they will include msfs 2024 when it is released

If only we were able to have thinner pedals in width to fit on rigs better.

In the video, you say that the software must be running for the MFDs to align. Must the software be running for throttle configs to function?

I think I have an idea for you to get a better angle for the WinWing throttle - if your cockpit allows for it. What if you mounted the unit so that the base was angled nose-down? I realize it may make some of the switches more difficult to use but I think it would increase the comfort and realism for how the throttle grip feels. Forgot to mention, I found this comparison extremely helpful.

at least here in EU you can get the WINWING F-16 throttle and stick for CHEAPER than the TM Viper TQS. It is ridiculous imo.

Is it possible to make certain buttons repeatdly action when held down? For instance, if you press and hold a button in SimApp Pro the light goes on once indicating a click but I'm looking for it to basically blink indicating as long as I hold down the button it will keep clicking. Hope that makes sense. Basically I use the two pinky buttons on the left throttle as mouse clicks in VR and want to be able to long hold to rotate switches instead of rapidly click.

The key to getting the HF8 software to work with DCS is. 1 install the software, check the pads work. 2 Shut the software down. 3 Run DCS. When in the cockpit alt tab out and double click the NLR software, select DCS. Alt tab back into the cockpit and it will work. Fine tune the settings to suit. That’s it. There is no need to import and export files. The two big errors that it is very easy to make- the events aren’t turned on in the DCS profile and, the next one is the biggie- loading the NLR software before starting DCS. If you do the latter it won’t run in the sim. TBH this isn’t emphasised enough in the install instructions.

Kind of a problematic comparison. Your TQS almost certainly seems broken with the throttle drooping like that and is probably why whoever sold it on eBay. You should be more up front that it’s used as your core issue is almost certainly that and you may even be missing a part to address it. I don’t know how that might address the “smoothness” bit given how it’s pretty much the same contact/friction point, I’d say you have a polluted TQS sample. Lastly, I find to hard to take seriously that you don’t mention the WinWings terrible 5 way hat in the MANRBG knob. Multiple standalone reviews, that came out before the TQS was released, mention that making the knob itself hard to use or entirely useless and that’s bad considering it’s a core F-16 HOTAS function. Maybe don’t make the normal stuff hard to access while adding whatever extras

How is the keyboard and mouse pad setup??? What you have is what I need. Would you know the make or model number and where did you get that?? I am new to dcs and it’s not easy, but truly enjoyable.
