Had my thorogood boots since 2018 with the original sole. I don’t wear them everyday but last way longer than expected. I paid around 260$ back then which were the most expensive shoe I ever bought but also lasted this long. I won’t be surprised if I can get another 5 years out of them before the first resole. I learned about mink oil, fiber board, grains of leather, good year weld, gusted tongue… all interest me into the world and history of boots. red wing are the most popular American heritage moc toe boot, however I feel red wing (I bought red wing 8847 last year) are better for street fashion while the thorogood are better as work boots. I wear boots daily, I been in the us army since 2010. Most of the time soldiers wear sneaker boots. Light and comfortable but doesn’t last long. I like to spend as little money on military boots because they get diesel on them and permanently stains since they are rough out. Plus we ruck in them and just beat them up. Using mink oil or shoe cream is also a huge mistake on military boots because it will darken the leather in patches, not evenly.
