Amazing. I have listened to Candi Staton for years, but I heard this amazing tune for the first time two days ago on a British TV program. Great vocalist.

Amazing soul vibes! What a voice and sad, but true lyrics. Crazy stereo mix choices, with bass and drums mostly in the left channel, and electric guitar etc. mostly in the right 😎

First, there is Ms. Staton's vocals, then the great Brass arrangement, making a great rework of a fine Country number. I first heard the Country song by Harlan Howard on a bargain bin Country Hits LP I bought and later found this version.

I thought I could hear Muscle Shoals in this. Just looked it up: Discogs says the producer was Rick Hall, "Songwriter, owner and chief producer at legendary Fame Recording Studios and Rick Hall Recording Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama."

Oh, and uh, yeah, don't forget, groove IS in the heart.

I didn't use to like horns, being as they were from my parents' old big band stuff, pre-guitar. I recoiled at the merest hint of sax. Then David Bowie turned up, my mind was cracked open a little bit. But once I heard Amy Winehouse I realised I was appreciating that old brass-based music. That led me to old R&B, and now I am here liking the trumpet punctuation of this soulful number.
