I'm a mischling and grew up with a racist father. I know he thinks blue eyed children are more beautiful....the brown eyed kids in my family were treated differently than our blue eyed kin. Then I did my DNA and found out I was Jewish on my mom's side...though not Ashkenaz but Sephardic...

I just listened to the four or five others again. I used to think David Northington nailed it best. Now I like Carolyn's best - she has the best simple, breezy, respectful cadence and lovely tempo rubato. Wonderful!

I remember finding this piece in Life magazine when I was a kid. Loved playing it then and now.

WOW! I love the interweaving of the photographic and the painted images. And the music has interesting spikes and bends. My favorite of the whole ResonatingEarth sequence.

I played The Young pioneers at Lutkin Hall, Northwestern conservatory of music, Evanston Illinois when I was 10 years old. Played again when I was 60 at a church with folk attending and they liked it too. Thanks for sharing, Carolyn.
