Andrew, I am so glad to hear that you are interested in knitting and/ or crochet. They are both fun crafts that result in garments, accessories or household items. Save the ball bands from your yarns. There is probably only enough yarn for one project in each box but you can get more yarn of the same weight and material with the ball bands from info. On the band. I also wanted to say that I love seeing your cross stitch on the wall next to you. 💜😃 Have fun experimenting with your new tools and yarn.

I got a crochet kit to make 2 Star Wars characters as a gift from my brother. Just like you i was excited to start a new hobby. Sad to say i never got up the nerve to try crochet. That is so wonderful, Andrew. My mother was trying to teach me knitting, crocheting, and quilting before she passed. I have always meant to try to lean all three. I can't this year but I think I will put it on my wish list.

How fantastic to add a new craft to your skill set :) and revive one you learned when younger. I was a crocheter long before I started cross stitching and love it! I started knitting last year but enjoy that as well these days. I switch between cross stitching and crocheting every day, gives my hands a break from each craft. I have taught many to crochet and am a certified instructor through the CGOA so would be happy to help or answer questions if you run into problems. Enjoy the new craft

Hi Andrew! How nice that they gifted you the knitting and crochet boxes. I learned how to crochet when I was in Jr High in Home Economics when I was 12. I’ve always wanted to learn how to knit. My mom tried teaching me when I was 12 but I gave up. Every time I showed her what I did she would rip it out and say start over because had dropped stitches. I am starting a class on line with Kari from Tiger Lilly learning how to make a beanie. Can’t wait to get started when we get back home from Colorado.

Fantastic. I am both a knitters and crocheter. I find crochet is faster, but I love the look of a knit more, but love doing both. You will find what you love, I have no doubt. Once you get into it, Amigurumi (sp) - cute animal patterns in crochet.

Andrew...beautiful boxes...I think you will need 2 types of stitch markers...round and split rings to help you mark the beginning and end of your rows... count your rows and reminders to change colors...in crochet use your split ring to mark your first crochet and the ending crochet of each row and thus getting straight rows at each end...there should be some beginners information on Google...I use clover round wood knitting needles...metal needles will eventually cause you to loose feeling in the tips of your fingers...just tips from a 77 year old knitter, crochet, and cross stitcher...great posting as usual❤

I get the knit tin box and love it, only problem it becomes very expensive for me paying in Canadian $ and the last box I got charged $27. For cod charges…..😂. ❤

That's exactly when I crochet. After stitching when I don't need to be looking at a chart and can jut sit with the tv on. Good luck, can't wait to see what you think about it.

I'm so excited for you to try knitting and crochet!! The most magical thing about knitting is that any "mistake" you might make is actually a technique! Even if you didn't mean to do it right then, it's done on purpose in another pattern. 😄

Good luck and have fun playing with yarn! :) If you get stuck with knitting but you really want to get it, I can recommend checking out the different styles of knitting. I’m talking English, continental, Norwegian, combination… I had a couple failed attempts as a beginner over the span of years. I tried a couple ways and I thought I just wouldn’t ever get the hang of it, but then I finally found a knitting style that felt right for me and off I went. Hopefully this is helpful and not overwhelming-sounding! :) You might be a natural. Regardless, crochet’s fun too and much less fussy. The projects look fun. Enjoy!

I tried knitting a couple years ago and never got the hang of it. I started learning crochet in 2023 but didn't do much with it. In 2024 I rewatched the tutorial videos and have been doing more of it. I'm hoping to make a baby blanket for my friend who's having a baby in July. Cross stitch is what I usually do so crochet doesn't get much time. Have fun!

good luck for your new projects! Tv and knitting are a pair made in heaven, compared to tv /flosstube videos wiht cross stich. Of the last mentioned, I do either - or, they are impossible to do simultaneuously. I prefer knititng to crchet, as crcoche garments are bulky to my taste. Happy knitting to you

Andrew, these companies are realizing you are a perfect, relatively new crafter, interested in trying new things, and meticulously enough to be successful and share your success. And you have a great audience! I am a knitter, and I know basics of crochet, but never delved in to crochet enough to do a project. I’ve done a fair amount of knitting, but Quilting is top of my list, then cross stitch, then knitting. There are definitely not enough hours to do all I would like to. It will be fun to see your progress on these new endeavors. Peg 💛

Look for run number and dye lot, the two white colours should have the same number, as should the two of the other colour. Knowing the company I strongly suspect they checked that before they sent them to you. 😊

Good luck. I struggle to knit with straight needles but can quite happily fly with circulars. Be prepared to alter how you hold the crochet hooks (and also, different end types need different holding positions). And you may find you take to one more than the other.

FYI I think your MatchBox Advent Calendar was a knock off version of the real thing. I saw a review of the scam box compared to the real box in a review the boxes by UTuber Carolina Moore in her video “I was tricked by a scam quilting website” subtitled “Scammed by a quilting website.” The color of the matchbox you received was red instead of blue, but the cross stitch patterns were the same as the ones you showed during the advent season.
