Rodri was the best player for both club and country last season period! Messi won it last year because of an international trophy even though he was a non factor at club level so clearly, international trophies are more important for BalonDor. If it was just about goals and club trophies, Haaland had everything in his debut season to win last year. If the BalonDor is judged fairly and with consistent metrics, then Rodri is the clear winner!
But Rodri did not the best player of the EPL though. For the Euro, it could have easily been Carvajal or Ruiz. You can check the stats. So if you feel like he was the best, you might be biased because the numbers don’t translate it this season. But it is the best Midfielder in the premier league for us.
@FootballvsSoccer04 Bellingham won best player for LaLiga but was not good in UCL knockout games as well as Euro apart from a couple of goals. Vini Jr. won best player in UCL but was not the best player in LaLiga and was absolutely horrible with Brasil in Copa. Rodri was crucial for ManCity and the best player in the Euro. You may disagree, but he won the POTT award for a reason. Spain's coach also said he was the best and deserves the BalonDor. He has no reason to be biased and he more than anyone on the internet understands the impact that Rodri had. Look at ManCity's win rate with and without Rodri and this is one of the best club teams in the world. Take out Bellingham and Madrid still win LaLiga and UCL.
