My truck runs good until you get on it hard or pulling a trailer or when you're at a stop and take off up a incline it's code is P0039
2001 Chevy diesel 6.6
You can get an actual BOSCH $35.00
What was initial code and symptoms?
P0090
I 'm getting p0088 over pressure fule rail , cold in the morning barely drive away , code reduced power ,i clear the code rest of the day no code , even letting it cool off ,not running rough no smoke LMM , Was told reg sticking, also told bettter to just replace cp3 while i'm in it . Any thoughts
4hrs!!! I guess I’ve have to shove my y bridge mouth piece back in enough I’m just quick at it.
Excuse me, is that not a fuel pressure regulator? It has ports and springs in it that regulate to flow of fuel to injectors. You are calling it a sensor........
Fuel pressure regulator
Is that the 13 row universal trans cooler? part # MMTC-SP-13SL ?
Engineers Suck and obviously have never turned a wrench!
$150 what bro I just ordered mine from Amazon it wad like $30
I have an 2017 L5P could a weak lift pump cause a pressure Regulator code?
I’m getting a code on my lml duramax saying fuel rail pressure is to high. Can that pressure regulator be the issue?
was that the problem? im getting the p0089. about half way done changing the fpr should finish tomorrow did you figure it out?
What is the screen you have at the end of the video?
Would it be possible faulty sensor can send truck into “ engine power reduce “ code?
Hi Frankie! It could, usually limp mode is more common for bad fuel filter or transmission issues. I’d definitely take the time to do a balance rates test and see if there’s a correlation
Can you give me some advice I’m getting reduce power as well and a lot of black smoke about like a 12 valve when i give it throttle
Greetings, Did you have any issues remounting the dip stick tube bracket once the new downpipe was installed?
Very well done video
Anyone know if this kit will work on a 2003 Silverado ss? Thank you in advance.
God damn I'm watching thru a straw, turn your phone and shoot wide.
Considering I do this for free and it actually adds time to my projects you’d think people would appreciate free insight and advice. Or you could always take your vehicles to the mechanic shop and pay a couple grand.

Do a trans thermal bypass
Whats the part # on this kit i have a 04 silverado 5.3 2wd ?
Hi Fernando, unfortunately if you have a 5.3 Silverado this most likely means you have a 4L60E transmission (unless it has been swapped for some reason) so unfortunately there is not a transmission cooler for that truck. If you are looking for the Mishimoto aluminum radiator the part number for your truck is MMRAD-GMT-99
Have you seen any difference with towing?
Hi Ben, I can attest that I did see a significant change in towing with the trans fluid temp being much cooler. But remember there’s multiple factors that can give you different results such as outdoor temperature in your area, and terrain you drive with X amount of weight. On a 80 degree afternoon I was pulling around 10K pounds on some pretty light inclines and the tranny still warmed up but not nearly as fast or nearly as high as it had with. The factory cooler.
is that the fault in my truck is low pressure and it does not turn on, it just tries to turn on I think there is no fuel or that it reaches the cp3 pump
Hello Jomar, honestly without being there I’m not sure. Typically a bad FPR shouldn’t cause a no start symptom. Let me ask, when you hit the key is it trying to turn over? Are you getting white smoke out the exhaust pipe? These would most likely indicate failed injectors or CP3 pump. I had a very similar occasion with my LLY a few years back. It was the CP3 pump that failed but it ended up sending shrapnel through the fuel feed lines and destroyed all my injectors. Very similar situation where it was a dead key start, bad metal grinding. Replaced the CP3 and I could get it to turn over but no start. White smoke coming out the exhaust. Hope this helps you! Please feel free to reach out with further questions and I’ll do my best to help ya out my friend.
@@MontanaDiesel no
@@jomarpainting.elmilusos376 your best bet for an accurate diagnosis is going to be to take it in. There’s a lot that could be causing the problem and none of it is very cheap to guess
I have a doubt the cp3 she does all the supcion me anism to be able to inject diesel to the engine
I have a question, all chevrolet duramax always have an elevation pump and a mechanical one
how much do you think this job would cost labor wise? i don’t have the time to fix it :/
Hey Matt, assuming it was just a FPR I would ball park cost being $800-$1000. A good chunk of that is the FPR itself. Price will vary depending on what model engine for CP3 Vs. CP4. $800ish for CP3 and could be as high as $1000 for CP4
Did the previous cp3 have a lift pump on it at all before failure?will a lift pump make diagnosing a bad fpr more difficult?.
Hey Kayla! The previous CP3 did not have a lift pump which is part of the cause to it failing. A lift pump will not make diagnosing the FPR harder. All the FPR does is regulate the flow of fuel to the injectors regardless of if it has a high or low fuel pressure. Typically a rough idle is a good indicator of failed FPR but the best way to check is do an injector balance rate test. So for example a good quality rate is between +/- 4.0, and typically with a bad FPR the rates will be chaotically spread well beyond those ranges. Hope that helps! If you need some more help just let me know
@@MontanaDiesel thanks. my 05 has 100gal. Airdog and has for the last 30k miles also has hypertech tuner.but has always had a lopy idle sometimes worse than others and sometimes never.but I recently switched my tuner to the "95hp"/performance tune and the rough idle seems to be gone..thoughts?.thanks again.
I have a 2015 3500 Duramax , I was just told that the fuel regulator went bad and put mental through the system from the dealership service department. I this something that happens or am I being taken advantage of?
Hey Willow, did they disclose how they came to this conclusion? What symptoms are the truck having? If it runs and drives that sounds iffy to me. Metal through your fuel system would have most likely caused injector and/or fuel pump failure. If you can give me a description as to how it's acting I will do my best to help!
Hi Wyatt! it would go into limp mode sometines and then reset and the last straw was it shut down on me, it did reset and I was able to drive it to the service department. I have a better understanding now about what happened I guess the fuel pump went bad and pumped metal shavings into the lines as well as the regulator. I did find out that they will cover 60% of the fix but the total cost was $11,000.00. I have read that GM used a bosch fuel pump in 2011-2016 Duramax Engines it is designed for better lubricated diesel that we don't have in the US.
That makes more sense. Bosch is definitely an interesting choice to use on these trucks. I find mostly ACDelco is a good replacement brand. I've had mine on for a few years after factory Bosch blew and wiped everything out. Also, consider getting a lift pump. A big problem for these trucks is fuel rail pressure. The common misconception is lift pump are used if your building a street toy but they are great at maximizing your fuel pressure during high end acceleration, towing, and lengthening the overall life span of your CP3. Wish you the best of luck with your endeavors! The only thing more expensive than building these things is fixing them but their worth every penny!
@@MontanaDiesel Thank you!!
Is this lly or lb7?
This is an 05 LLY engine.
Does the fuel pressure regulator effect the truck from starting? Or loosing prime?
Not usually. If you had failing or failed injectors coupled with a bad FPR than it is possible. Mostly with a failed FPR you'll just be experiencing a rough idle, low power, smoke, and injector imbalance.
I have a 09 lmm and has always idled up slightly for just a second then goes right back. It does it about every 10 seconds or so. The accelerator has been sticky for about a month now and finally this morning i got a p0088 code and a went to limp mode. Would a new regulator probably solve all of my issues?
@MontanaDiesel would it make a fuel knock
I can't find it on a living room truck
Right on man
