War of the Ring Isengard Army
Просмотров 3 тыс.9 лет назад
Here is most of my Isengard army for War of the Ring minus the Isengard orcs. You can see the orc models in my Mordor army video. This is 3,300 points, but add the orcs and two trolls I can field 4,000 points. Follow the War of the Ring Rohan Campaign at: lotrwarofthering.blogspot.com/

For mass battles, you'll need to paint your figures in batches and paint one color a day. Here's my tutorial for batch painting.

First Battle of the Fords of Isen Scenario
Просмотров 46310 лет назад
Saruman has sent his vanguard to take the Fords of Isen and slay Theodred, heir to the throne of Rohan. Here are the themed forces I have chosen for the scenario. No Uruk-Hai warriors as they would still be at Isengard. Only orcs, Dunlendings, and Uruk-Hai Scouts. Also no Epic Heroes. Theodred for good and Sharku for evil are in Legendary Formations instead and are the army leaders.

In the first video, I go over the evolution of the Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game and the evolution of the expansion War of the Ring to fight mass battles.
I've heard this is one of the best GW games ever. I plan on printing my armies out in 15mm. Tones of great LOTR miniatures out now as STLs
what happened to this channel? he hasn't uploaded in years, kinda sucks hes got some great videos
Thanks for the run through. I'm late to the party but I'm building up some forces and looking forward to trying this out.
please more, phantastic game
Please make the next tutorial video! I found this very useful.
I found out after I did this that I made several mistakes. I would have liked to kept doing videos, but found out that they take a lot of time, particularly the editing process. Maybe one day, I'll re-do them the right way.
Warlord I hope so, there isn’t much material out there. Especially explaining thing properly.
Hi Warlord! I love your painted pieces and battleboards. They remind me of Battle Masters from the 90's. I would be honored if you checked out my War of the Ring painted miniatures... ruclips.net/video/-Vk0rS2xhD8/видео.html
I wish this was still a thing, loved WotR. Of note, the elves should have gone to one line to maximise their shooting capabilities and increased the number of shots AND attacks in the fight phase. I think I might need to pick out my movement trays and do some of this!
Fantastic! 😍😍😍
Amazon has war of the ring used for like 5-10$. Does anyone know any good sights or channels for legit good castle scenery?
seeing how you make your armies, i'd love to play with u.
Very good advice thanks for uploading :)
Great army. Great video. I like the way you've based it on Tolkein rather than a tactics based killing machine. You've inspired me to finish my own fledgling orc army....starting with buying a Gundabad troll & ogre from Forge World. They're magnificent models.
where do you get those movement trays from? look good.
They were produced by Games Workshop when War of the Ring came out. They are now out of production, but you can find them on ebay and there are manufacturors that make similar ones.
Thank you for your help. Do you know where I can get trays?
So are they re releasing the game?
They are releasing the Strategy Battle Game skirmish rules, not the mass battle War of the Ring rules.
+Warlord what will this exactly mean?
Updated rules, but essentially the same game.
I found the main book on Amazon for five bucks. I found the two towers and fellowship games What other books and units do you suggest? Should I get the Lord of the Rings strategy battle book?
The Lord of the Rings "one" book tried to put all of the rules in a single volume. It was re-branded The Hobbit Strategy Battle Game when the films came out. Games Workshop plans to re-brand the game again next year as Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game. You can get the "one" book cheap in the meantime before the new rules come out next year.
+Warlord so get LOTRs? Are they re releasing models for big battles then?
I may have lucked out and found a kid selling their stuff
I am not having much luck finding models.
Most of the Lord of the Rings models are still available direct from Games Workshop website under The Hobbit Strategy Battle Game banner.www.games-workshop.com/en-US/The-Hobbitor you can search ebay under Minatures, Wargames, Lord of the Ringswww.ebay.com/sch/Lord-of-the-Rings-/44011/i.html
Is it too late to get into this?
It's never too late to get into any wargame, it's just your personal desire to play it. Most of the models are still being produced by GW, but are double the price of what they were when the game came out in 2008. Best to get what you want on ebay. For War of the Ring, you would have to have two starter armies to show other players how to play. The Strategy Battle Game is going through a resurgence through points match tournament play and will be rebranded as Middle Earth SBG later this year.
+Warlord how much on eBay and what should I look for?
You can get the War of the Ring rulebook on ebay for around $10 used and $30 new www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=War+of+the+Ring+Rulebook&_sacat=0
Great Army Chap, brilliant paint job! I have an Isengard army myself, a great Army to collect! Thanks for the upload.
A quick point about the Dwarf Rangers, you do realise you can be a Ranger and not be in a forest right? Also These are meant to represent the Dwarves more from the Hobbit book with hoods and cloaks rather than heavy armour. Also Outriders were not in the books but a GW invention...
+mithaearon Actually the Outriders are in The Return of the King book as scouts for Rohan. No mention of dwarf rangers in any of Tolkien's writings and the references to rangers are in the North (The Lost Realm of Arnor) and Ithilien.
+Warlord Sorry we are going to have to agree to disagree on that one, if they were the same thing GW would of called them Scouts. Being when we worked on the rules (yep I used to work on the game) we were well aware of scouts but GW wanted their own IP type thing in the game. The Rangers is just a name to distinguish them as more cloak and hood wearing Dwarves.
+mithaearon There is no doubt that GW added some items from Warhammer Fantasy into War of the Ring.
Pity that you did not continue this series. It was very informative!
+Simon Sobolewski I wanted to, but making videos takes a lot of time and I messed up too many of the rules so I would have to do several takes before I got it right. Now I blog at lotrwarofthering.blogspot.com/
Thank you Warlord! Great seeing stuff from Nova :)
The War of the Ring rulebook is all you need. I wouldn't bother with Battlehosts.
Just getting into this game and I'm interested in the larger battles.. Do I need all of those books put out before, or will the War of the Ring and Battlehosts books give me everything I need. Thanks
Nice work ..... where are you located? I have a few WotR armies and am as always wishing I could meet someone else who plays lol
Great work! I know what it's like to collect and paint an army that literally takes years to complete. I just finished painting 200 goblins over 3 years. I've always liked Isengard as well, good job.
+Sillyrunner Thanks much. Currently working on Mordor and Gondor for our a Gondor campaign.
Does it require tickets
Yes, I think you can pay for each day or for a weekend pass. Here is the link for Historicon 2015. hmgs.site-ym.com/?page=HconHome
How much does it cost?
For non-HMGS member $50.00 for the weekend or $25.00 for a day pass.
Will it be held on Friday to Saturday or what?
I got at least 2 more questions by the way.
Must have taken an age to paint all that!
cool keep the content up
Thanks. Because I can only game once a month, I am coming up with ideas for content other than batreps. My next video will be running a map campaign, which I plan to use with my group.
cool look forward to it,yeah I'm lucky to get a game a month real life gets in the way.
Hi I'd like to get into war of the ring do i just need the war of the ring book? I'll use ebay to pick minis up on the cheap
Yes, all you need is the War of the Ring rulebook. There are no separate army books needed, all the army profiles and rules are in one volume. I almost exclusively get my minis from ebay, and you can find the rulebook for cheap there as well. You will probably have to make your own movement trays as they are out of production, but can easily be made out of cardboard. The rulebook even shows you how to make the trays.
Cool thanks for the info, can you recommend any good proxy models for use for realms of men etc for both the evil and good forces?
Awesome battle! Would love to see a 1500 army of dwarves!
In due time. Currently working on Rohan and Isengard. The Mordor and Gondor. Elves and Dwarves are a little down the pike.
Great game I was at HISTORICON but missed this. Are you going to be at fall-in?
Won't be at Fall-in, but a few in our group will be and will be running SBG.
Hi there. It is great to see another lotr sbg channel. I came here after watching a GBHL video where Jamie mentioned you.
Thanks for posting. I was at HISTORICON and truly enjoyed the events.
Excellent vid, great army, do you play in the mid-west? I have about 1/2 of what is shown? Sauron says "I have no need of a Guard, send them with the Nazgul"- said contemptuously.
I'm on the East Coast and play in the mid-Atlantic states. After doing further research, it appears Sauron had a personal guard at the Battle of Gwathlo during the War of the Elves and Sauron in the Second Age. Looks like I might have to get the Black Guard after all.
Impressive bat rep, board set-up, editing. Do you do your own painting? Subscribed.
Thanks Jeremy. Yes, I do all my own painting. Although I don't consider myself an expert painter, my next video will be on batch painting all the way through the process from primer to finishing touches.
Thanks for the great video! I loved seeing some Battletech being played. I also love Miniature Building Authority, so I'm excited for their castle Kickstarter project to launch.
