I have experienced narcissistic abuse for 26 years of my life. From my family, the society I live in...my "friends", men/my relationship. I did n't feel existent the last 5 years and wantwd to kill myself so badly, it was not describebable in Words. I felt like I was killed ,like my whole soul was killed. I was not able to speak for 25 years. I had Mutism. I never fully recovered.

The emotional damage is the same, regardless of the motivation.

The 1% part of this video really gave me a different perspective with how tasks go with my husband. It really opened my eyes and I am going to keep this in mind when I start to get frustrated with him. I know he tries his best but when you feel like you have to take on such a heavy load it can be really hard to remember that fact. Thank you so much. Bom dia, Tary. Tudo bem? Gostaria de agradecer pelo conteúdo incrível, pois, eu aprendo muito como lidar com os meus sentimentos, já que sou filho de mãe narcisista cruel. Infelizmente, aos 42 anos, enquanto homem, moro na casa da minha mãe - essa é uma situação em que me sinto muito, mas muito desconfortável, porque na condição de homem, sou muito julgado por pessoas, incluindo familiares, que sempre foram os "capangas" da mãe narcisista, dizendo para mim isso: "Saia de casa e alugue um quartinho, pois você já é um homem de 40 anos". Taryana, isso é o que mais quero na minha vida. Inclusive, eu aprendi inglês sozinho e estudo para concursos (coisas que ela odeia, em especial, quando falo inglês), só que o meu emprego não me paga o suficiente, para, pelo menos, alugar um quarto, onde eu possa ter paz. Com esses comentários, na semana passada, comecei a desenvolver uma ideia de suicídio, conjecturando o pior. No entanto, graças ao seu vídeo, que me salvou, eu comecei a positivar, pois o problema não sou eu. Desde aos 5 anos de idade, ouço de familiares que se minha mãe morresse, eu estaria ferrrado, pois ninguém iria me querer ou, até, ficar comigo - isso dito por uma tia, que é considerada "autoridade" familiar e falava que eu não tinha qualidade. Imagine isso: uma narcisista oculta, que no caso, minha tia, manipulando uma narcisista cruel, que é minha mãe. Eu morro de vergonha de morar lá, naquela casa. Sinto que todas as minhas energias são sugadas e iulgado o tempo todo....

Thank you very much for this video. I felt understood. I put so much blame on myself for not committing to work, to change. It still strikes me that my brain's primal focus is on surviving than on living. It's hard to switch to a long-term perspective, almost unreachable. Yet, i feel inspired to try to live my life as i would like to and not succumb to my primal instincts, which keep me roadside.

Tary, sem querer ofender, sugiro que faça menos intervenções quando a convidada continua falando. Percebi que você nem percebe isso mas eu creio que o valor da entrevista é deixar o entrevistado entrar em modo Flow, ou seja, deixar ele fluir. Em alguns momentos, quando ela estava falando, você tomada a palavra. Vou dar um exemplo: 15:15 (perceba que ela ainda tinha algo a nos dizer). Enfim, é só uma dica.

I don't get why people who say are empaths can't understand the deep levels of the trauma that made narcisists what they are. Actually I can imagine why: because empaths maybe have never experienced pain in the level narcisists did. I tend to say narcisists are survivers like their victims, but by other practices. I feel so humanized listening to Tass experience. I felt her heart and I can see a light at the end of my tunel now. I used to feel like a monster. Now I know that I can still be a human being, dispite my diagnose. I totally understand the rage towards the non self awareness from the majority of narcisists out there. But feel angry with peope like me or Tessa, who are willing to work their shit.. that insanely the oposite of empathy.

Hi Tary, I am a child of narcissistic father. My mother was a child from a narcissistic mother. Both, be and my mom developed a very anxious, suicidal and depression personality because of that. Is that the case both of us are experience genuine victim PTSD? Or did we developed a narcissistic personality to cope or to protect ourselves against my grandmother and father?

My wifes family is always in need of help, but i always am blamed for the problems if i dont agree( non supportive) ! We are always helping them when they need but they always help others that aren't there for them😢

Thank you. This has been the most insightful video i have seen in my 1 year journey. I wish i had seen this ages ago - somehow we got there by trial and error, but at the start it was very hard. I found that speaking only what I saw & experienced in her family events and asking simple questions on how she experienced the same thing (importantly NOT giving my opinion) was the only way to have a discussion without escalation. We have a lot of healing work to do together, which has started - But seeing how these "people" work is life changing

What do you do in the case in which your partner has transferred the blame for not feeling seen or heard to you. My husband has a very narcissistic father and a co-narcissistic mother. They always made him feel like he didn’t matter. Now, he regularly creates fights and drama, accusing me of those things. I don’t know how to help him see he’s misplacing the blame for how he feels.

I am in the situation will it change when the parents die? Or will my partner just go off the deep end? Wow!! I have been w someone for almost 7 years! His sister had intruded into our relationship and his father has total control of all of his decisions and I can tell the sister was the biological mother’s (whom she can never please)…..you are the only person who has ever been able to fully explain his sister and father’s behavior and why I have not been able to get through to him! Thank you!
