My paternal Grandmother came to America from England on the Louisiana and on its way back it was sunk! She was quite a seamstress… I often wonder if she might have made a sampler.. unfortunately I never had a chance to meet her as she died about a month before my parents were married 😢💗

Oh my! What beautiful samplers! Such a treat seeing all the antiques. I could imagine the ladies in 1851 being so excited to receive those booklets, just as a stitcher would be today. Thank you for this lovely video and for all your time reproducing these beauties.

Thank you for preserving these samplers. I am presently stitching your Eliza Townsend. It is interesting your research mentions County Armagh. I’ve traced my mother and father’s ancestry leaving from there for America. My father’s side were Quakers and my mother’s were protestant Scots who all landed in Buck’s County, PA pre-revolutionary war. Somewhere along the way we are probably cousins. 😃

Oh thank you for these releases. All the sampler are beatiful and so interesting. It's like a master lesson on sampler's history. I stitched the Squirrel Bristol Sampler by Meriem Cheuvet (it's a sampler you surely know at th Cooper Hewitt) and I noticed that there are meny motifs taken from the booklet. Thank you for saving this fragments of life through the reproduction of samplers. Emmeline sampler is very pretty ❤ if it weren't for you nobody would remember that young girl's stitches and it's very moving!
