Thank you so much for this. This is the best video that I have found detailing clearly how to do this.
OMG IT WORKED! 🤗Thank you a million you save me I can’t thank you enough.
I think this might have worked when I did this in combination with figuring out how far off my cuts tend to be, and then the reversing like you showed, plus I installed an older silhouette legacy version. With all that together it seems consistent. Fingers crossed.
Thank you so much! It worked for me too
Glad it helped ☺️
yes this worked for me without having to do more calibration - on first inspection the cut looks to be more even. thank you!
Glad to help 😊
Thanks for this video. So far it works for me and I was having trouble with drifting cuts for years
Glad it helped ☺️
it's not work for me at all...i still don't know how to fix my Portrait 3 so i can only cut vinyl or anything that not print and cut
So sorry I wasn't able to help ☹️ From my experience with Silhouette Portrait 3 (I have four machines now) I have learned that some just never work great from the very begining 🫤 I continue to use them because they are what I'm accustomed to and are super simple to use, but I hope to use some other versions one day.
i cannot use anything i cut out from my potrait 3 its sad to see a machine is useless & because its hard for me to get this so idk what to do@@honeytulipcreations9307
This worked! Thank you so much. I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out why the stickers I printed the first day I got this machine were perfect and then all of my other attempts weren't cutting properly. I recalibrated and everything and this is the only thing that worked.
So glad to be of help ☺️
Thank you for this great video. I was wondering why the red cut line is shown twice in the line view.
Glad to help ☺️
Omg, this is such a life save ❤❤❤ I’ve been trying to find what the hell was wrong with my machine and finally I still didn’t understand the problem but got the solution and it really was a game change ♥️♥️
So glad to help 😁
Thank you for such a informative and concise video! Definitely going to try this
Hope it helps 😁
absolutely amazing. Thank you so much for this video, it fixed my issues right away <3
So glad I could help!
I struggled then I found this!! Thank you!!! xxx
So glad I could help ♥️
I'm starting to think there's something wrong with my machine now. I've tried this technique. it worked at first, but it doesn't work anymore. he just cuts it wrong. he's shifting it too far. i can't solve the scrolling problem, especially on glossy paper.
🫤 I'm so sorry... honestly, it could just be the machine...I have two and my older one I don't really use because it acts stupid and sounds wonky...I wish I had more advice 😒
Just wanted to follow up on this video. After 10 months of using this technique, it still works ... in the Cameo 4 also! So glad you posted this video!😊
Yay! So glad I was able to help!
Thank u🌷🙏🏻☺️
oh that's my prob with cameo 4, the drifting cuts towards the bottom right. it starts off accurate in the top left then slowly goes off as it cuts towards the bottom right.
Yup, that was the problem I always had
hello was wondering if u ever had problems having registration problem
Whenever I get registration issues, I check two things...lighting and paper on mat placement...I have a lamp that is bent directly over the cutter so that the machine can read the marks correctly...and if the paper left corner and top are not directly covering the mat guide lines, the registration will fail most times...if I know the lighting is good and my mat guide lines are covered by the paper and I still get failed registration, then I unplug the machine for a few seconds and plug back in...this always seems to do the trick...and of course, I never change my registration settings, so make sure you watch that part of the video to see the settings I use...hope this helps
@@honeytulipcreations9307 thank u will try that
I soooo appreciate your help. Didn’t even realize what was working before wasn’t even right to begin with. I eventually ran into a problem and learned from you that I was doing it wrong😅😂 it’s a surprise it was working at all. Thank you for taking the time to make this ❤
You're so welcome! Glad I could help ♥️
Very helpful video! I will try your settings as a baseline and go from there 😊 What sticker paper do you use in this video? I am in the UK and got some matte sticker paper from Amazon. I was wondering which you use, to compare thickness, etc. Thank you! 🤗
Glad to help 😁 I use premium matte sticker paper from compnsave.com
@@honeytulipcreations9307 Thanks ever so much! I'll see if I can find it here, or at least something similar. Love your videos, very helpful and well presented, so easy to follow! 😁
I found that the drifting cut line issue is solved by downloading an earlier version of the software and to turn off automatic updates. Ever since, I've not had a single drifting cut line. I hope this helps someone. Great video btw!
i will try this, what version works for you? my issue is those drifting lines on cameo 4
please share the version you're using!!
Hi, thank you for sharing video on how to print and cut using Portrait 3, i tried following all your instruction but unsuccessful with cutting :( portrait is not recognizing the registration marks, i tried to do it manually but i'm unsure how to use the manual so still unsuccessful! please help! i've wasted a lot of sticker paper already :( Thanks in advance!
Hi there! Well, the only other tips I can tell you is one, make sure you have adequate light shining down on your machine, especially the blade area (I have a lamp that sits directly over my cutter), and two, you can go over your registration marks by hand with a fine tip marker or pen to make them darker (sometimes they don't print dark enough and cutter can read them).
Also, sometimes my machine just gets tired after a bunch of cuts and starts acting silly, so I will turn it off and unplug it's cord and then plug it back in...this seems to help.
I was able to print and cut without issue! Thank you for your advice☺️
How do you add multiple cut lines? You have both purple and red for different cut depths but I just have 1. Do you know how to add multiple rows like you have in the video?
Okay, so if you watch my video Silhouette Studio Tools for Creating Stickers, I explain about cut lines and how to get different ones and using different colors for each type...let me know if that helps:)
As for adding multiple rows, I explain how to do this in my video How to Make Stickers with Silhouette Portrait 3 (playground sticker). If you still have questions, I'll be more than happy to help you further if I can:)
Hi, what kind of tape did you use? Thank you.
Hi...I just use basic scotch tape
Hello ! I have a silhouette portrait 2 and your tip unfortunately didn't work but thanks a lot for the video 😅 However, reversing the alignment marks so that the square is on the right improved the situation greatly!
Hi! Thanks for this video. Do you suggest to buy Silhouette Portrait 3 or the Cameo 4?
I have only ever used a Portrait 3, so I have no way to compare with any other machines.
Hi everyone, I just bought a Cricut Air 2 and am having immense trouble with its cut accuracy..was looking into buying this Silhouette Portrait 3 instead, but now I am worried it will just have the same issues....is it actually any better? Did this drifting issue only come up recently with a software update? Just trying to find as much info before I decide to spend more money...scared to just buy another dud
Actually, the drifting cut was actually a problem from the get go with both Silhouette Portrait machines I have. The only thing that solved the issue was the tip I give about centering things and flipping them upside down.
@@honeytulipcreations9307 So you center and flip, then print and cut without issues? Someone mentioned changing the side the registration mark is on, so I might look at that too. I was going to try a cut to do an aligning at the edges, but mine refuses to do cuts to the edge of the mat.
I have watched this video so many times for help with my Portrait. I so appreciate you for taking time out of your day to teach us how to use the machine. All the best to you and thank you so much!
I'm sooo glad that my video was able to help!!!
Loving all your videos!
So glad to hear! Thanks for watching!!!
OMG! OMG! FINALLY! THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH! It worked my Cameo 4🤗
Yay!!! So glad it worked for you!!!
I'm going to try this with the Cameo 4! I'm having issues with drifting cuts also. Thank you for giving me something to talk about.
You changed my life for real, I was getting frustrated because I always had some stickers that I didn't wanted to sell because the cutting lines were to off, but this changed everything after the first try it was almost perfect, I adjusted a few cutting lines as you told in another video and tried it again and what can I say it worked perfect ( I moved 3 cutting lines a bit too much but thats fine) so out of 23 stickers 20 were absolutely perfect! Thank you so so much, this is a lifechanger for me! I hope it will work on my other designs this good too but I'm really optimistic
Yay! So glad this helped! I still get a few off cuts here and there, but doing this has illuminated so much sticker paper waste from bad cuts that I just had to share😄
If my sticker paper size is A4 size , The process of putting the mat on the floor die-cut machine should be placed on second line ? (´・ω・`)
No matter what size paper you have, always line up the left edge of your paper (not the left edge of the mat itself) with the 2nd line on the machine like I demonstrate in my video. And ALWAYS make sure your paper edges at left and top are COVERING the guide line on the mat, else you might get registration fails or bad cuts.
Thank you I have the same when printing icons from other shopping
You're welcome😊
thanks for the tip. how did you discover this fix?
It was just something I did one day after a particular sticker sheet kept cutting off...it worked like magic...not sure if it will work for others, but after alot of frustration, anything is worth a shot.
Thank you for the very detailed, easy to follow instructions. I finally bit the bullet and bought one just for personal use and was a bit daunted. But you took all that worry right off my shoulders. I feel like with this as the founation I'll be able to go in and adjust thing very easily from here. Thank you for one of the best tutorials I've come across. #ConfidenceBoosted
I'm so glad I was able to help... it's the only reason I made the video in the first...to help where I felt help was limited😊
Thank you for the great tutorial. Helped immensely. Keep up the great work!
So happy to help!
Hi! I’m not planning to use portrait 3 for stickers. I do make souvenirs made of special paper with thickness of 220 GSM and i’m planning to buy this machine to assist me with simple cutting while i do the rest of the designs by hand. Would you know if this can cut thru 220 GSM thickness of vellum board? Thank you and hoping to hear from you.
Hi! Honestly, I have no idea the maximum material thickness the Portrait 3 is capable of cutting, but I can tell you from experience that just with the auto blade it comes with, it won't cut through 80lb cardstock laminated with 5 mil lamination. There could be a deep cut blade that could be used with this machine, but that is something I have not had the chance to look into. It would be worth researching though.
Thank You so much!!!! I was able to cut a printable sticker sheet for the first time after trying and failing multiple times. I might actually be able to use this machine for the purposes I bought it for.
Yay!!! I'm so glad I was able to help!!!
Por favor, en castellano o subtitulado. Lima, Perú
This was SO helpful and clear! Thank you so much for this tutorial! Much appreciated :)
Of course! Glad I was able to help!
Thank you so much for this video! Unfortunately, I have a brand new Silhouette Portrait 3 I got yesterday and I am having problems with the drifting. It is a nightmare, I’m curious if you figured another way to avoid this problem? 😊
Unfortunately the only thing helps my drifting issues is a brand new mat or taping paper to mat. But even doing this does not always work. And moving actual cut lines in the document always helps though it is terribly time consuming. Also, make sure your paper is covering the gray or black lines of your mat when you are placing your paper on the mat. These things have helped but nothing is a guarantee to help all the time.
@@honeytulipcreations9307 Thank you! Yes, it is really frustrating. I found out that I just need adjust the cut lines to get it looking how I want. But thank you for the tips, truly appreciate it
Very helpful video, thank you for posting this.
Of course!
Thanks so much for sharing the instructions!
Of course! Glad to help☺️
Thank you so much for the tutorial. I’ll be rewatching, stopping and pausing to see if I can figure it out. The only thing I can suggest is when you are clicking on the different tools you are using in silhouette would be to point out where they are and maybe there function. Me personally being new to silhouette I don’t know what a lot of the tools do or where to find them. One example…would be when you turned off the cut lines around the stickers…that’s where I got lost…but I’m going to see if I can figure it out. Thank you again for your help❤️
I apologize for not knowing how to zoom in on functions I'm clicking on or what some of them are actually called. I a total newbie at recording things and not 100% familiar with everything about Silhouette Studio. But what I can do is make a short tutorial maybe with my phone showing the functions I use up lose with a quick explanation on each.
@@honeytulipcreations9307 no need to apologize, and I hope my comment didn’t sound mean, that was not my intentions. I truly do appreciate the help and stepping out of your comfort zone by doing these videos.

@@honeytulipcreations9307 OMG thank you so much!! I finally did it. I don’t know how to post a picture in here or if I even can….but I’m doing a happy dance right now. Of course!
Hi. Can I cut 2 Mil thick Stencil Sheets, Transparent Clear Plastic Film on the Portrait machine? Thanks
Hello! I'm not sure, but besides sticker paper and 80lb cardstock, I've also cut 3mil laminated items just fine with the Silhouette. I tried cutting 5mil laminated items but even at the highest force and several repeat cuts it just would not cut all the way through.
@@honeytulipcreations9307 Okay, thanks for the reply.
@@jorgesolari8952 of course🙂
Thank you so much for this video, I just got my portrait today and it cut beautiful!! Unlike the other name brand machines I have😔 I’d love to see more tutorials💕
I'm so glad my tutorial was of help! What other tutorials would you be interested in seeing?
@@honeytulipcreations9307 any tutorials on tips and tricks for silhouette. I’ve never designed or used the program before I got my portrait. Maybe one showing placement of stickers and size to maximize using the most of your sheet would be helpful. If you do actual sticker sheets a tutorial would be great for that also. Thank you.
@@honeytulipcreations9307 about the stickers sheet, how to create the background, and then the setting to cut the background out and kiss cut the stickers.
@@lisaann1531 So are you wanting a tutorial on how I design a whole sticker sheet, like the mermaid set I cut in the tutorial?
@@honeytulipcreations9307 sure, anything to learn all the buttons and if you need to flatten them. I’ve never used silhouette studio so I’m learning and watching some videos but you explain things really well.
Yeah it helps so much! Thank you for the tutorial 😇😇
Glad to help☺️
how do you add the registration mark on your sticker sheet?
You have to either design your sticker sheet in Silhouette Studio and then print it through the studio or design your sticker sheet elsewhere and bring it into studio and print it.
