Congrats on the epic day and great video! Back in the day (early 2000s) my partner and I did 21 pitches in the Trapps in one day with a goal of averaging 5.7 or better. We only did a couple 5.9s, so nothing really difficult. It was a blast and the climbing felt super easy once we got dialed in. The only lead I have done from your hit list was Retribution. You made it look easy. Well done!
Thanks! Modern equipment and training have made climbs much safer and climbers much stronger. Your big day back then was also worthy!
Congrats to the film crew. People not willing to share is fortunately rare. Most climbers are considerate.
Funny how the chalk runs out at the crux of CoEx.
I accidentally touched one of those caterpillars from the begging of the video and it fucked me up. Touched it in between my finger and my hand swelled up and my whole body broke out in hives. I was so itchy all over, sucked so bad
Nice. I'm 74 and not a climber, but I received my MFA from SUNY New Paltz in 74 and used to photograph around Minnewaska and would watch the climbers and marvel at their skills.
way to go guys.
The hardest climb I did at the Gunks was Hawk (5.4). I've not climbed in 35 years, but I return almost yearly for hiking. I'm thankful to my father for introducing us to such a great area. Going there at end of October for a few days of hiking.
Next eleven 5.11's, then twelve 5.12's, after that thirteen... oh... shit... 🤔🤢🤮 What have you started!?!
Nice job, man! It's a day you'll never forget. (I know I'm a bit late to the party, but what the hell. I'll watch any video of the Gunks. Been climbing there for fifty years, though not so frequently in recent years. ) My shoulders are sore just watching you. These climbs have always been a couple grades out of my reach, but Gunks problems are Gunks problems - some of them are just harder than others. Lots harder in some cases. Nicely done video, too! Hat's off to all!
Sick! Nice work 🤘🏻
Great day of climbing! Some of my old favorites in there, and some of the climbs didn’t exist in my day. Nose Dive used to 5.9, and it was probably a 5 or 6 hex followed by a wired stopper! Lol! We used to go over to the Near Trapp’s and finish up on Criss Cross, on Any Monday and Fat City!
Badass accomplishment and nice vid <3
Great video
Will be moving to Syracuse and looking forward to working some of these routes! Although they look pretty damn stout haha. Awesome work!
Awesome. Very inspiring. And a really well done video.
