    Very informative! The Shulchan Arukh 554:18 says יש מי שאומר שלא יישן בליל תשעה באב עם אשתו במטה ונכון דבר משום לך לך אמרנן לנזירא I understood Chazon Ovadia Taaniyot page 307 as harchakot are mutar so sleeping in the same bed as long as one doesnt do anything is likewise mutar, at least m'ikar ha'din. If not, nevertheless Ha'Rambam in Hilkhot Ta'aniyot perek 5 makes no mention of abstention from sleeping in the same bed. Rav Karo wrote "yesh mi she'omer" & "nakhon davar", lashon which implies there are those who are cholek this chumra or opinion hence not a universal nor absolute chiyuv unless you personally follow everything the Shulchan Arukh

      Thank you for your extensive reply. Firstly, he Kaf Hachaim (seif 84) asks a similar question that you asked. He says why does it say Yesh Mi Sheomer when there isn't a machloket about this (at least the Beit Yosef didn't bring down a machloket). He explains that this is the derech of the Beit Yosef... (look over there for full explanation). In regards to Rav Ovadia Yosef in Chazon Ovadia, he writes there explicitly that it is forbidden to sleep on the same bed. Look at page 306 seif beit. It's important to inform the rabim of the widely misunderstood concept that everything in the Talmud or sife midrash is divine wisdom or from Har Sinai, it's not. Al pi ***Rav Sheriria Gaon*** in Osar HaGaonim Sefer HaEshkol 2 47 and Rav Hai Gaon Osar HaGaonim Chagiga 59 that agada/midrash is CONJECTURE and that which makes logical sense and accords with Mikra we shall accept, that which does not (like faulty medical advise) is to be rejected. Alternatively like Ha'Rambam teaches we could view it as entirely allegorical. Thus, medical or any other scientific advice or theories and even *new* beliefs like shedim aren't originally part of our Masoret and subject to scrutiny. That's why it wasn't heretical for Ha'Rambam and many others to reject the existence of shedim (or magical powers or any other non verifiable wild beliefs). Archeological findings of Babylonian Jews making incantation bowls to ward off demons was found but thankfully isnt practiced anymore by Am Yisrael. Why not? Because that wasnt part of our Masoret but a belief adopted by the neighboring goyim. Not avoda zara, but as part of the "science of their times" whixmch we have the zekhut today of knowing that was just superstitious and not beneficial at all beyond placebo effect. Regarding shedim see Rav Hai Gaon cited by Rabbi Natan of Rome, Aruch אספרגוס ואמר הגאון הני מילי דאמירן ביה "משום סכנת מזיקין" דהוה נהיגי ביה, והשתא לא נפישי כי ההוא עידנא. Thus, carrying a rue flower to ward off shedim and similar practices that have no logical benefit and no scientific backing for its validity should be rejected as superstition. Like Hakham Elbaz concluded, all we need is HaShem. Even renowned Mekubal Rav Yaakov Hillel says that's the yesod in his sefer תמים תהיה

    Chazak u'varukh! However Hakham, when the halakha matirs multiple wives, why forbid it as a shevua in the ketuba? Being noheg to marry just 1 wife because of the influence of western society is one thing but to officially vow against it? If one married a woman who couldn't conceive after 10 years, better to try to marry a 2nd wife who can than to divorce.

    • @yaskilavdi3792
      @yaskilavdi3792 Месяц назад

      Good question. However, even the Shulchan Aruch (who allows marrying multiple wives) writes in Even Haezer 1:11 that it is good to make Takanot against marrying multiple wives. In addition, it seems that nowadays people don't divorce their wives even after ten years of a childless marriage.

On the other hand, in Vayikra 25:9, it says blowing shofar in the singular where we know it isn't incumbent on everyone.
