I visited a mate is in hospital, he had a stroke, and seeing him so confused was pretty sad, although happily there's a good chance he'll make a full recovery. I don't know if any of that experience bled into this track, but it is a little melancholy... Prayers up for my boy "R". Beats are RD8, RD6 and SR16. Percussion is a K2. Fixing unresponsive XBOX ONE controller D-Pad

In a recent repair vid (ruclips.net/video/vuMu-G4oalI/видео.html), I fixed a non-clicking Xbox One D-pad. However, a day later, 3 of the 4 directions on the d-pad stopped working! I fixed it by stripping it down and cleaning it. MORE OF MY NONSENSE: gavd.co.uk/

Acid chill hip hop. Is this what people mean by "Liquid bass"? I used the Polyend Tracker to "scratch" by flip-reversing and playing with the pitch of the samples. I produced this over a busy stay with my in-laws with the kids going crazy in the background. Inside my headphones though everything was calm! Why Samplers Scare Me (story time!)

I spent over an hour on a track, and the Squarp Pyramid suddenly threw up a "FATAL ERROR". I was gutted, it had been coming together nicely! Undeterred, I recreated the track from memory. O'course, it came out different, but that's live analog music for you. I spent a lot of today making an ethernet cable to hard wire in the mixer. The first one failed for some reason, two no-connects and I cou...

Many years ago, my mate Josh got Gil (GMCFOSHO) to draw me a birthday picture, it was very special, so today I got inspired by the drumbeat to the legendary "Rifle Burs". However I made it with an RD-9 instead of a gunshot and changed the pattern a bit, so it's not the hardest possible beat on my version. Made on Christmas Day to sweat out the food coma. I jacked my cheap Yamaha guitar straight...

I found a sonic sketch on my Tracker from last week's kids' BJJ class that I'd hated at the time but listening back I liked the filthy distorted over-the-top bass so I removed all the melody (which wasn't sitting right) and started again from the bass. I got 10 minutes in and a kid not participating in the class was interested in my Tracker so I let him play with it. I finally got it back about...

It's been a weary Sunday afternoon that I've slept through most of since church and before the kids' Nativity play later, but I've figured out how to sync an instrument over MIDI from the Polyend Tracker AND route it through the effects bus live, so the K2 is playing the lead melody here in real time, everything else is samples. Gristleiser effects pedal demo (Fuzzdog kit built)
Awesome video! What is that blue board you’re working on called?
Thank you :-) If you search "soldering mat" on Amazon you'll find dozens of them for about 15 quid or so. They're great 'cos they aren't conductive and they are heat proof and they stop screws from rolling onto the floor never to be seen again!
did you recap this unit? Stock capacitors were bad or cheap? what caps did you put in it? what op amp this unit use?
I did not. I replaced the whole power supply and it worked! Almost every very time I've tried to recap a power supply I've blown it up, not sure why, my soldering is reasonable!
ah ok tnx for infos
That's a whole load of wub wubs
'tis arr. Reversing the sample and pratting around with the pitch makes a nice bass effect I reckon
@Gavddotcodotuk it sounds good
I feel exactly the same way. Nothing I ever do is likely to be noticed, but I still feel weird about using samples.
Is the built in audio interface any good? - Norman
yes, I've had no issues with it at all. I've only ever used the UV-1 in auto interface mode, I'm not using the audio outs, just USB. It's stable, sounds good to my ears. I've recorded 8 string guitar, bass, and vocals through it, it's been happy as larry :-)
I have the same problem.. I wrote music and i used half a sentences from an old song as lyrics and it is so nice... but...can i upload it ?? Will i have a problem ??
I'm glad it's not just me!
@@Gavddotcodotuk Yeah..but we need an answer !!!! 😁
Wonderful track man...really wonderful !!!!
Thank you! Listening back, I really like it, especially the bass
@@Gavddotcodotuk 👍
I really want this! Where do I go so I can build this myself?
Pedalparts.co.uk is where I bought this kit 🙂
Would sound awesome with an auto wah
I think you could mod it to replace the filter pot with a jack for an expression pedal! Great idea
Great video! I know how to repair guitar pedals, and at this point, if rather just buy a working DS1 lol.
Good choice! Ds1 is a great pedal to learn repairs on because there's no surface mounted stuff, it's all through hole ( at least the one I worked on is!) but yeah I didn't even make back what I paid for the broken one when I sold it on so false economy! I think there's a whole scene of chaps who repair stuff for fun which drives up the price of broken gear
Sounds gyptian
Arr, I like that scale
Terminator?
Take 2!
1:44 ...that part...helll yeah !!!!
haha thanks! All these years and I think this is the first time I've combined my synths with guitar
@@Gavddotcodotuk It is a nice experiment..keep it up !!!
This one has a "cute" vibe. Love it. Screw Richard, what a dik.
it needed to go
Glad you enjoyed the track :-)
ruclips.net/user/shortsBTJWcEc7zHk?si=pW3wdhzAX3JA_H0z
that's a sick snare IMO
what's that cat synth Gav?
that's the Wasp, I thought it sounded like a kitty as well! It's the pitch modulation what dun it
I might never unpatch the WASP now, now I've got confirmation it's a kittybox
That sync and the features may gave you a nightmare but the result turned out great !!!! Nice sound from the K2. (I want to buy the MS-20mini one day ...after the Pulsar...lol.) And nice production in general.
thanks! The MS-20 mini is a lovely synth :-)
@@Gavddotcodotuk it is , it is ......
Minimal and wonderful !!! 👍
thanks! I was very pleased with this one. There are a few notes that skip (probably how I had the MIDI set up, exhausting the voices on the PRO-VS) but I kind of like that :-)
@@Gavddotcodotuk It is wonderful even with those fewer notes 🙃
Very nice repair guide! I found one for 15 euros here in Finland at a second hand shop, I opened it up and the belt had quite literally melted! I cleaned it out and otherwise seems to be in perfect mechanical order except for the tape which I have a replacement on the way for. Thanks!
thanks! The main problem I have with repairs is they'll often need some part or other, I'll order it, the project will sit on the bench and when the part finally arrives I've usually lost interest! Many such cases with me. I hope your repair goes well :-)
Nice arps
thanks Jon! The Tracker survived my wife tripping over my nest of wires and plummeting from the sofa, this is the sound my my relief that it still works!
Lucky!

Sounding good Gav
ahh, thanks Jon! I find I record something, like it, release it, hate it for a bit, then I like it again, but this one I like right away so I expect I'll hate it in 3 months!
I'm a fan. Nice work....
Thank you! I'm really enjoying exploring the K2, it's a fantastic sample factory :-)
Very nice Mr Gav sir
Thanks Richard! I'm loving the K2, it were a bargain and all, only the price of fifty pints of chips!
this one got a "carefree" vibe but it also has a mystery in it ... weird combo.... i like it !!!
thanks! There were a few notes I nudged out of key through the jog wheel that sound a little dissonant but I kind of liked it, so I decided to keep it as it was :-)
@@Gavddotcodotuk Great choice...those notes make it sounds mysterious !!!!
While listening to it i imagined a scene. A crazy guy with a friendly smile walking carelessly in a city full of "normal" people. He does not care ... all he wanna do is wander around and looking and acting weird.... lol... 😁
haha i imagine that like Richard Ashcroft in that Verve video for Bittersweet Symphony where he's bumping into everyone but doesn't stop singing!

You linked me here to answer a question I had on another video… is there a way to make the brains cycle through different banks without adjusting the knobs? It seems as if I’ve seen a Braids cycle using CV … I bought brains as a temporary solution (affordable) but it takes up so much HP in my minimal build… please like follow and share my journey into modular! And thank you for your helpful replies! Subscribed!
yes, jack an LFO into the model input :-)
@ thank you!
Raw and real. I like it. Nice positive melody !!! 👍
thank you! This was one of those tunes that came together really fast, a couple of hours tinkering, and it just felt right as something simple and pretty :-)
@@Gavddotcodotuk Pretty for sure !!!!
I just bought a brains… hadn’t arrived yet… can you explain how you externally get the module to shift oscillator voices? Is this done with control voltage ? Can you describe your patch? Loved the video, sounds and demo… liked and subscribed
sure thing! You'll love the Brains! The Brains has a CV input "model" that selects the voice. It doesn't switch between banks, so it stays in the bank you've selected. I found it a little unstable/imprecise; sometimes a certain voltage would give voice 4, sometimes voice 5 (for example). That unpredictabiliy manifests more on my video "Beatbrains" ruclips.net/video/YRD240xEoII/видео.html where I try to switch between the drum voices (snare, hat, FM, kick) and sometimes it would pick an unexpected voice. Perhaps if I tuned the CV more precisely, it would be more consistent. The patch in this demo is an Oberkorn analog sequencer which has 3 lanes of voltages and 2 gates per step. I'm triggering the Brains' built-in LPG (low pass gate) rather than using an external VCA+envelope from one of the gates. I'm using the 3 voltage lanes to set 1) model (voice) 2) v/oct (pitch) and 3) the morph. Enjoy your Brains! It's a great module
A serious work
I think it's as close as I get to "effortposting"! Half the samples are yours anyway! The rest are my RD-8, Pro-VS, SR16 and K2
Thanks for the brief review. Can you unscrew the rack mount “ears” if you want to just set it on a desktop?
*looks on the side of my unit* yes you can :-) They're just screwed on
This kix ass
This bass vs Harley Benton B 650, thoughts ?
I've not played the Harley Benton... I have a short scale HB 4 string though, cost me about £70 and I love it. I recorded all my Reckoned As Dead and Norli stuff on it.
Good shit ngl
I have a master system 2 and it has no sound, is it my modern tv or the console
could be an awful lot of things TBH. If you're connecting via RF (standard master system 2 is RF only) and there's no sound, I'd suspect it's the MS2 itself. I'd go through a process of elimination seeing if I could connect anything else over RF, then I'd open up the MS2 and try an audio probe similar to www.reddit.com/r/diypedals/comments/pc18ut/how_to_make_an_audio_probe_and_use_it_for/?rdt=48846
Hi where did you get the blue mat/tray please ?
Amazon. If you search for something like heat proof electronics mat, you'll find dozens of them 🙂
That's some nice marimbering
arr, thanks Jon
Great Demo, and write-up
Thank you, kind of you to say
hey. what is this rack you put all your synths on called ?
I've looked through my old orders and can't find the precise model but it's something like this www.bax-shop.co.uk/keyboard-stands/innox-kb-120-mkii-keyboard-stand - I think it's exactly that one actually. I then bought some additional arms to mount more gear on it. It's a standard tubing size (1 1/4 inch or something?) so there's a lot of stuff that can mount on it. It's on half price at the moment - £87 - which really is a bargain. It's fairly sturdy for home studio use
Nice video Gav, thanks for the shout out! You're definitely a proper musician though! 😀 Your release strategy is very similar to mine. Pretty much everything I've released is the result of doing jams on RUclips. Firm believer in the idea that quality (perfect) is the enemy of done!
I had a president at a startup I worked at that would say "the perfect is the enemy of the good" on a daily basis!
I love my edge. It's such a fun playtime device.
time evaporates on the Edge!
Music is my diary too, i love to save my emotions in the music i love, or making music to save emotions and feel these emotions again.
Nice Jam
Thanks Jon! Love me Edge, love FM, simple as
Look at those rubber nipples
They look nice and easy to see against the black, at the small cost of occasionally jamming the switch! I could trim about 1mm off them I guess, they're a tiny bit too long
Mans got so many synths he has to move at the speed of light to operate them all
yeah I just noticed this, it's so odd, it's not like that on the file I uploaded - I guess RUclips glitched out!
Sounds savage
arr, it's a mean beast! I reckon a CV mod would be good on it
subbed
top decision m9
nice jam... No need for Grind... What you have there is great !!!!!! 😉
Thanks! The units work nicely together :-)
Nicely robotic Gav, and the edge is surprisingly tune full
Thanks Jon! Whenever my music isn't tuneful, it's just because it's microtonal and people aren't sophisticated enough to get it. At least, that's what I used to say when my bass was out of tune! "Good enough for jazz"
