Hungarian M44 Mosin-Nagant: Total cleaning, disassembly and reassembly (including bolt)
Hello all! This video centers around the Hungarian M44 Mosin-Nagant, it is one of the more rare M44 models out there. They were manufactured in Hungary after the communist government was forced onto the nation under the iron curtain. They were meant to replace the Mannlicher and Mauser patterns in Hungarian service during the war. The FÉG (Fémáru Fegyver és Gépgyár) factory in Budapest manufactured them with the distinctive "02" markings that are found on these rifles crests and on parts throughout the gun. Production numbers are not well known so therefore hard to deternine. They are essentially the same as a Russian M44! They were notably used in the Hungarian revolution of 1956, which ...

Japanese Type 30 Bayonet - Disassembly, deep cleaning and reassembly
Просмотров 7169 месяцев назад
I have recently acquired this Type 30 bayonet from a local pawnshop. I noticed it was in need of some help so I took it home with me and found it to be a challenge to bring back to life. There was a lot of pitting on the blade, a lot of rust everywhere and the button was cemented in place. So lets see what can be done to it! The Japanese Type 30 bayonet was developed in the late 19th century to...
Chinese Type 56 SKS - Disassembly, cleaning and reassembly
Просмотров 74010 месяцев назад
In this video I will be disassembling, cleaning and reassembling a Chinese Type 56 SKS. These rifles are often said to be inferior to Soviet designs. However the Chinese manufactured the SKS in greater quantities, for much longer and put them through extensive use. They seem to match and even surpass Soviet SKS designs in quality and functionality. This particular one was manufactured in 1973. ...

Italian M91 Moschetto Carcano - Blitz disassembly and cleaning.

This week is a "Blitz" video of me cleaning a Italian Carcano Moschetto rifle I acquired from SarcoInc. The rifle is in good condition, the only issue I have is SarcoInc. engraved their company name on the receiver. These rifles have a very long history of service in many wars on many continents. They are a fun interesting little rifle with readily available ammunition (6.5 Carcano). This parti...

Siamese Mauser - Type 45/66 breakdown and deep cleaning with some historic ambiance. I love this Mauser as it is a unique mix of German Mauser, Mannlicher and Japanese Arisaka design. Nice, I don't have a M-44 yet but good reference for when I acquire one. In the meantime I can get my Chang Kai Sheik rifle I recently acquired cleaned up thanks to your video.
Awesome - Thank you for sharing! Congratulation on the Chiang Kai-Shek acquisition!
A nice looking carbine , I do not have a Hungarian yet . I do have the Russian M44 , a Polish made one & the Chinese Type 53
@@milsurprifleguy7091very nice, I am looking to get a Type 53 eventually.
@ it took me awhile , a lot of them seem to be heavily used . I acquired my Type 53 about 7 months ago & is in overall good condition . I did do a video then on it .
@@milsurprifleguy7091 nice, I’ll give it a look!
Awesome!! Thanks so much for the historical recordings
I am glad you enjoyed!
Love it!
Came out looking like it just came from the factory. I inherited one recently from a deceased family member. I have no experience with Mausers, so I want to do this one right. My gun smith confirmed it's an 8x52R, that's good I can get 20 rounds for 90 dollars and shoot it once a year! A couple questions please: It looks like mine still has cosmoline in it, what do I use to clean that out with? Did you boil the parts in the mineral oil? Does that produce fumes? What did you use to protect the metal with when you finished?
Depending upon where the cosmoline is would determine what method would be best to use. If the cosmoline is on the metal, you can use mineral spirits (Used at 9:12) and even acetone (lightly). If it is on the wood, I would use a plastic bristle brush quickly dipped in mineral spirits. Brush it and wipe it off with paper towels. Be careful though, too much mineral spirits could bleed any old finish. Some even use heat to get it off, for example, put the stock in a black trash bag and leave it in direct sunlight for a few hours. I have tried this method but have had no success. However, others swear by it. To maintain a layer of protection on the metal, leaving a simple layer of Remington gun oil on the metal surfaces would do just fine!
That's cool but why acetone though? that is for nail polish removing.
Acetone removes old dusty grease and oil. If your goal is to totally clean the gun, It is good to strip the metal of the old grease, then scrub and apply new clean grease/oil. Certainly never use the acetone on the wood as it will damage any finish that is on the stock.
@@LegitTurd oh ok. is it worth rebore/rechamber this rifle's barrel? if yours looks ok, that's fine.
@@NgJackal1990 This particular Type 24 still has rifling. There is no militia marking on the stock. Which is why it is in better shape than most. I am ensuring is stays that way!
@@LegitTurd The reasoning I'm asking because these rifles were heavily used during the wars and their conditions are usually average to bad. Their barrels could be worn out.
@@NgJackal1990 Certainly, I would say 95% of the Type 24s I see are worn totally out. This one is in great condition considering the average Type 24. If you had a worn out barrel it is totally up to you to rebarrel. What is more important? A more original (collectible) rifle or a shootable rifle, certainly options to weigh.
can you modify a long bayonet in to a functional modern bushcraft knife?
Absolutely, for instance, I have seen many type 30 bayonets turned into just that. I would never do it but in the case you want to, it is certainly doable.
What did you use to remove the rust? Also, what sling is that on the gun?
I used WD-40 and brass/copper brushes to remove the surface rust. Anything deeper than that I boiled the parts in distilled water for 45 minutes, then scrubbed more. The sling is a US supplied M1 Garand sling!
@@LegitTurd Thank you guys for these questions and answers. I got one it really rough condition earlier and this will be invaluable to my restoration.
@@LegitTurd steel wool 0000?
@@NgJackal1990 That will work but I prefer copper/brass pads. You can scrub extra hard without worry of damaging or future potential rust.
Awesome job!
Thank you sir!
Ok, now you gave me a very good reason to reinstall Halo Infinite. Thumbs up for you my dude! 👍 P.S.: Has this already been shared on the Halo and Metroid subreddit groups?
I am glad you think so! Yes, I have shared it to both subreddits but feel free to share or use the maps in anyway! Please note that Phendrana and Grasshopper frigate have both be updated aesthetically wise.
@@LegitTurd I will play them very soon, though it will be with just AI bots since most of my friends aren't as big into Metroid as I am. I'm wondering, would you do some Metroid Prime Hunters maps too?
@@generalcjg I understand that, they all work well with bots. I would absolutely do Prime hunters IF I had easy access to the maps. I have Prime Hunters but not a DS. I also cannot find any good overview online of the maps.
@@LegitTurd Have you seen the Wikitroid wiki pages on the Prime Hunters maps? There are some maps there that do have plenty of images and renders, those being Combat Hall, Ice Hive, Harvester, and Head Shot. From those, Combat Hall would be the easiest one to make in Forge since it has the most images and renders in there. As for playing Metroid Prime Hunters, if you have the game cartridge already, then you should be able to get any Nintendo DS model at a decent price online, it isn't difficult to get one (especially a DS Lite or DSi model). The DS Lite model is the best one for homebrew so aim for that model if you wanna rip the game files of Prime Hunters to see the maps themselves through game files.
*Promo sm* 🏃
This is incredible!
Amazing work my dude! I'll be downloading these for sure. I know a lot of people didn't like Prime 2's multiplayer, but I had a lot of fun playing it with friends growing up.
That yellow guy should be in more videos, he’s the true superstar
So freaking awesome
Facing the threat of Western colonial expansionism in Southeast Asia during the later part of the 19th century, King Rama V of Siam (now Thailand), sought new weapons as part of a modernization program to ensure the kingdom's independence. After experiments with other rifles, the Siamese military decided to purchase a Mauser rifle based on the Gewehr 98 design as their principle service rifle. Through various modifications, adaptations, and using various cartridges, the Siamese Mausers served as the main infantry weapon of Siam until after World War II.
This video was so informational and well done
