Such a great video, I was wondering…any plans to do one on A Serious Man?

The mistake was not giving us an entire movie solely focused on Buster.

The last story was kind of a ripoff of Orphee. The two henchman of Death were the motorcycle riders of the former movie. Interestingly in that movie, Death herself couldn't control her henchman, and was arrested herself by them and presumably sent to Hell. (Death and Hell will be consigned to the Lake of Fire.) And as in the Seventh Seal (Bergman), Death knows nothing beyond his job, which is the end of life. He is not privy to the afterlife nor of God. He is a daemon/daimon. The context of which - as in the descriptive nomen of the Greek and in computer programming is a spirit (or serving program) that only exists to do one job. If that job is finished, it ceases to exist.

I think the trapper is Liam Nieson, just a different actor. He talks about going into town. And in thr beginning of the Mortals story, the undertaker is singing about the Irishman from Meal Ticket going to vacation in London, then killing the woman he went with and why he did it. But in Meal Ticket, Liam Nieson gets drunk and sings about hanging a woman.

Whenever I imagine consciousness beyond death, I’ve always imagined, like here, that you wouldn’t know you’re dead. Just like you typically never realize you’re in a dream. You don’t remember how you got there, you just sort of take it for granted, at least initially.

My favorite Coen Brother's movie! The stagecoach scene with Tyne Daily was my least favorite chapter.

The trapper’s dialogue is the funniest dialogue I’ve ever heard from a Cohen brothers’ movie. And this, coming from someone who can quote most of The Big Lebowski.

Come on bro, why was it so hard to simply tell the story as it was? Why did you have to go into modern politics? Those were INDIANS, and they were known for scalping people every now and then. So, no, it was not a stereotype.

I watched this movie after getting my wisdom teeth removed, and it was honestly one of the most confusing movies I've ever watched. Maybe coming down from the anesthesia affected my perception. It was also kind of boring, especially this bit. I suppose it doesn't appeal to my preference in movies.

No one has yet explained to me who the guy wrapped up in bandages in the last story is. He surely can't be a corpse, after all they're ALL dead anyway. So who/what is he?

From my perspective, it seems that seeing the future (literally) is not required to create heptapod B logos. It's more accurate to say that one must know what their complete thought is. The logos do not show the future, they show complete thoughts as one symbol. Also, although the story in the movie (and the book?) shows literal knowing of the future, I think for viewers the more relevant version is the equivalent of knowing that if we see a two year old walking around a dining table in a small dining room carrying a butter knife, it's almost 100% sure that they will stick it in an electrical outlet. We don't stop to think of the events in order...our brain says, "get the butter knife from them. Move them to another room. Distract them with something else." The lesson is to expand that type of awareness to more complex areas of our lives. An effortless awareness of the preciousness of our lives, and of everything in it. Appreciate each moment with every single person in our lives, because somehow, in some way, each shared journey will end.

Loved this, but I feel like you missed an important point about the girl who rattled. Her meek innocence was a facade. While I do believe she was attracted to Billy, evidence like how she subtly said and did things that made dogs and humans disappear, would suggest that she saw him more of a handsome meal ticket than a man she loves.

One of the worst movies ever put together. Couldn't finish it. Ranks down there with Lost In Translation and Asteroid City.

I think the ballard of Buster Scubs could have been a movie on its own, seriously. I mean, that small introduction of Buster was epic he had humor class danger pizzazz i mean he was the Clint Eastwood without the seriousness i reckon Holly idiots (Hollywood) missed that by a country mile. Mel Brooks would have turned Buster Scubs in to a goldmine.

The stage coach looks like Ankou. Celtic origin of Grim Reaper. He steers the carriage of souls and has a wide brimmed hat.

One of my favourite details I only clocked after checking the score out on spotify is that we hear "The Unfortunate Lad" played on a trumpet right at the beginning as the book is being opened. There must be many ways to interpret this but I do like the idea of the duo (and hence the Coen brothers!) laughing at us for indulging in their stories for the entire anthology. Hats off to Carter Burwell for such a beautiful and well-considered score!

Karma is fake, this world is fake but the revenge of those over those are real. This movie was about me, *SUBJECTIVELY*. God/DEEP UNIVERSE MANAGEMENT gave these creatures gifts to fight other undesireable gods/aliens and occasionally the technology can be used to fight crime like global terrorism but they used them on me tirelessly. Maybe to be used as a scared straight intentionally or unintentionally but bad kids go to scared straight camps for police oriented programming. I was lied to by a racist God operator for the pop program by the alien humanoids shapeshifters of Moses executioners......UNTIL MY TEAM WHO WAS A BIT CONFUSED BECAUSE GOD DOESN'T MAKE MISTAKES so thus i had to be guilty of something forced to smoke weed to be induced but weed is not a psychedelic and REMEMBER I hate weed and alcohol God doesn't make mistakes but PREFECTS do!!! GOD gave them power over us yes. But they are held accountable to principles by those over them. And if they cant police the police who is gonna police them. Thats how angels lose their wings or supreme aliens lose authority. Finally thats how death angels meet their death. And the part Mr Thorpe bumps his head in transition.....they did that for spite.
