good name to have! I have not hiked from Jaco to Hermosa.. Must try it some time! Hahah Thanks for watching
My friend Lori named it Potoo Mountain because she saw a Potoo up there once 😀
Good name for it. I just call this hill Red hills, for it's bright red clay soil. Thanks for watching! Pura vida

I have not. 🤣
Have you ever seen a money plant stem floating on a river and swims like a snake?
Nice work! Really love those verrucosum living well🎉
❤❤❤
Gorgeous!! I miss CR❤.
Hi just found your chanel, and love your hikes. We have been going to Jaco foe couple weeks for last 8 years and love to hike, we have done Miro up to the double beach view and beyond. I have always wanted to this hike in this video. Couple questions how did you get to starting piont and can you find cab back at the end. Thx
Be safe, please.
That is so pretty. Sigh!!!!
11:56 Philodendron auriculatum, endemic from Costa Rica
We need way more content like this on the internet! This was epic, thank you! ❤
Thank you.
Hi Lyndsay, i'm in Canada, was in C.R. many years ago and loved it! I'm anxious to return and hopefully live there part-time. I really want to do the trails and enjoy the vegetation and birds!
Hope you make it back here. Pura vida
Thanx for another great video! I'd really love to do that park trail! Your voice is so pleasant to listen to!
Thanks so much. This is a wonderful national park located close to Jacó. Well worth visiting if you come this way. Pura vida
I enjoy your musical selection in part 1 and 2...many thanx!
Thank you
Apologies if I missed it in the video but I don't see anywhere which tour company you booked through? Who were your guides? :)
I went with a local group, los Coyotes, that I found on a local facebook hiking group. This tour organizer offer guided hikes mainly for locals. There are other tour operators in Costa Rica that offer guided tours for tourists. If you would like some help planning a trip there, you can write me at bikehikebotany@gmail.com and I would be happy to help.
As senior hikers and plant lovers we really enjoyed your video...looking forward to seeing more of your adventures. Thanks to both of you.
Thanks for watching. Really appreciate it
So, love your content and info on the flora and fauna. We are going to Jaco at end of Dec 2023 (I know, not the best time with crowds and such) and I am very much into entomology and macrophotography of insects and plants. I would love to do a simple hike that isn't a tourist spot- like some that you do (one behind the police station, etc). but not sure I can find it on my own. I will not have a car, will be staying down by the crocs/best western hotel area in Jaco and wondering if you could share a bit more with me in way of directions, etc? Keep up the great videos! I know there is a lot of time, heart and soul that goes into them
Hey!! Thanks for your comment. I'd be happy to help. Can you email me at bikehikebotany@gmail.com please so I can send you info? Thanks. Pura Vida!!!
Como siempre, naturaleza por doquier!
Gracias por mirar mi video
another great hike for my 4 dogs. How do we get there?
The path has changed a lot since I made this video and you would have to take a different route. It's kind of hard to explain. It's a clandestine trail, so it doesn't stay the same year to year. Basically you start across from the first entrance to Jaco, across from calle gemelas. There is an obvious trail that goes up into the mountain and you have to find the path that leads over to the other side. Like I said, it has changed since last time so you might have to bushwhack a bit lol. 😂😂
This is perfect for me and my 4 dogs, just the hike to the hidden "private" beach. How do we find this great dog hike?
This trail is no longer accessible as the road and trail are now fenced off.
Nice tour, interesting plants. We’re you there by yourself??
Thanks. Yes I was there by myself. It was great.
@@BikeHikeBotany You should have went with somebody! It is to dangerous!
Thanks for your concern but it really was not dangerous at all. There are park workers there, the trails are well marked and maintained and it's not an exaggerated distance. I hike alone quite a lot, and always take precautions to ensure I'm safe. Pura vida
Your videos are awesome! Inspiring! I'm coming down in February. Staying on the Caribbean coast, San Jose up through La Virgen over to Cahuita and back. I know plant people will know the best places for me to visit. Any suggestions would be great and plant nurseries will be great also. Thank you!
Thanks. I haven't done much exploring on the Caribbean coast yet but I know Braulio Carillo National Park is a good place for plant hikes as it is extremely wild. If you have time in SJ, go check out the Lankester Botanical Gardens. Otherwise I would recommend a trip to the Monteverde region. It's some of the most beautiful cloud forest I've seen. Pura vida
Thanks so much for sharing your many journeys around Costa Rica. I’ve never been to South America, so it’s great to see the native flora and fauna.
Thanks for watching. Pura vida
Hi I just want to let you know that I am glad to find your channel. It's very hardto find botanical content like your and your spirit for plants made me love your videos even more. Please have a great day and keep up with the good work. I will make sure to share this video around in my plant groups.

Philodendron auriculatum
Thanks I tried to find the name but had a hard time. Pura vida!!!!
@@BikeHikeBotany It's pretty common on my farm. I've grown them from seeds as a trial to see if they could be used in diversifying reforestation. I was able to grow hundreds of individuals from a single fruit.
Wow. That's amazing. I hadn't ever seen one around here before.
These shots are just marvelous, what a presentation my friend! Just brilliant 👏👏
Thanks so much Ervin. Pura Vida👍
