vlog: a couple days in my life living in NYC! America's first pizzeria, margaritas, & more
I’m jumping on this bandwagon! I am on day 8 trying to stretch it but my scalp is screaming! Just needed validation that weekly is working for somebody lol
@@sabinemarie2159 girlll, I feel you. When I first started I saw people were doing every 3+ weeks , and I just couldn’t do that. I would try to find weekly silk press videos to validate my decision and I couldn’t find any, so I just started making my own. This has been working wonders for both my hair and scalp
lol the being able to just get up and go is real
Thats the best part!
Silky! Great routine. I use the Kendra blow dry hair product and is amazing for my silk press.
Thank you 🫶🏽
Do you use 410 when you curl your ends
@@londashameir I do sometimes, but its not necessary, sometimes I curl the ends on 370 or 390 as well. Or the flat irons default heat setting when I turn it on
Love the video ❤what products were used when washing and conditioning hair?
@@londashameir thank you 🫶🏽 i have other videos on my channel showing my full wash day routine ❤️
Ok thank you 😊
I wish I could blow dry my hair like that 😭
@@letsgrowtogethertv girl, I’m still learning myself 😆 about to pull out my blowdryer brush one of these days
What’s the dryer and flat iron brand
Flat iron is a Remington Shine Therapy. I can't help you with the dryer 😂
Protools Ceramic Turbo 4000 (1875 Watt).... I forgot I can circle things on my phone screen and find them.
What is the temp on your flat iorn?
410 I believe
Products used are in the description box 🫶🏽
I believe the medicated shampoo should be used after the regular shampoo and not before, confirm with your pharmacist
@@kimspenda My dermatologist instructed me to use it before my regular shampoo and so did the pharmacist.
Nice routine!
@@1obedience thank you! 💕
Great video what type of hair do you consider you have ?
@@kbgotflava kinky/ curly hair that has been altered by heat styling
I love silky straight hair, but unfortunately for me it's kind of hard to keep it that way, like you said if you have fine strands 😔 and wash it weekly it easily bouce back and you'll end up having breakage and damage 💔( exactly my experience before) it sucks 😢 not being straight is the best for my hair but not what I want though
@@rukayyaibrahim2800 I have fine strands and this has been working for my hair. I deep condition weekly, trim often, and I have also been incorporating bond treatments. These things keep my hair healthy
Fine hair NEEDS more protein than other hair types to withstand any kind of manipulation including heat styling. Heat is not the problem, lack of knowledge is.
@icycici6191 please guide me more 🙏. I am only using natural proteins like fenugreek and rice water( just DIY's in short) because i do have fragile strands but at the same time I am afraid of protein overload. I always wear my hair on braids, wash weekly and re-do the braids every 2 weeks.
@rukayyaibrahim2800 I use the 2 minute Keratin Reconstructer from Aphogee once a month. I keep track of it on my calendar. Also, the ends of the hair are higher in porosity and more prone to breakage than the roots and middle strands. If you want length, you NEED protein no matter the hair type. Protein is like water 💧 for the hair; I learned that from a natural hair stylist. The last thing you want to do is avoid protein, especially keratin protein in your hair regimen.
@icycici6191 ohh wow, been taking it lightly. I surely will, thanks 😊
I thought I was the only one that experience more shedding and breakage if I go past of week not washing my hair😅

Beautiful hair & routine! Which flatiron are you using here? I’ve been on a hunt for a good, yet affordable flatiron. Thx!,

I do my silk press weekly too glad to see another straight hair natural doing the same 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽❤️ Literally just got this flat iron the other day!

Have you done any protein treatments for the damaged hair?
@@MyeshaB I recently started using the curlsmith bond curl rehab salve and the loreal power restore.
@NaomiIsles Have you ever tried Aphogee 2 step protein treatment? It has helped me with damage due to color and heat. It is a strong treatment.
@@MyeshaB yes I have and it made my hair fall out like crazy, the breakage was worse
@NaomiIsles omg!
I've been trimming my hair monthly to start my natural hair journey because I didn't want to do a big chop but I tried so hard and could never do successful wash n go's and my twist outs didn't look the way I wanted. My hair wasn't even badly damaged but my hair would shrink up so much and the single strand knots were even worse.. I thought using less heat would make things better but that doesn't seem to work for me. I want to try being a straight natural now, straightening my hair helps me retain better length, less breakage & fairy knots😅Also I do have fine, medium density hair.
@@rivervlogs274 I also have fine medium density hair that is prone to breakage and knots, this has been working wonders for me. I wish you luck on your journey! 😊
Girl no cons. 😂😂 just kidding let me watch the video. I’m 10 seconds in lol. I will say there’s levels to this, i still wear curly hair…but im limited to rollersetting my hair. I retain soooo much more length wearing my hair mostly straight…so honestly i don’t see any cons, u just gotta take time to learn ur hair and learn how much damage is ok for u. Agree with all ur points!
@@mrod87 yup pretty much 🤣
Hey sis, new subbie here. ❤️Discovered your channel a couple days ago, and when I tell u it’s been a blessing in disguise coming across someone who’s gone through the same traumatic salon experience. I big chopped back in 2016 leaving only an inch of hair on my head. Fast forward to 2024, and I’m coming to terms with the fact that my 8 years of growing out big, beautiful thick 4c hair (literally a couple inches away from my bum) has all been for nothing. It’s been 9 months since I had some sort of smoothing treatment done and my hair still won’t curl/coil like it used to, and very flat and not voluminous anymore. The only time it curls is when I do braids outs and curl up the ends, and I have to make sure I don’t sleep wrong or my hair will be back limp and straight by the morning. It sucks honestly, but I feel like my only option at this point is to big chop it or embrace this straight hair lifestyle so I can wake up with a flawless silk press every morning. Lowkey looking forward to my hair always being done and no more unpredicted bad hair days, because I know what I’ll get when I take it down in the morning.
Awww , thank you🥹💕let me know how your ‘straight natural’ hair journey goes. This has been one of the best decisions I have ever made.

I am part of the weekly wash and silk press club! Been doing my own hair for years this way and my hair always reverts to its 4a/3c curls. For about 6 months I've been using the maui moisture clarifying shampoo, kenra allcure conditioner for detangling, and any deep conditioner I have on hand that is protein free and silicon heavy. My blow dry prep is a lightweight leave in conditioner spray from Revair, tresemme heat spray, and moroccanoil blow dry serum to really coat my strands from heat. I blow dry on low heat with my dyson using the comb attachment. I flat iron on 360 or 370, one pass with a fine comb. My hair gets silky straight and stays put until I wash at the end of the week. I also workout 4-5x a week, so my style would probably last for 2 weeks if I wasn't working out and sweating consistently. My mom used to take me to dominican salon in high school every two weeks. My hair was long but extremely fried with the excessive heat and I had the worst dandruff ever for years!!!! All of that stopped when I started taking care of my own hair and scalp health. My hair grows consistent .5 inches a month, and I am on a length journey after randomly cutting a bob 6 months ago. It's already at armpit length! I know it can get tiring to do our hair every week, but once I started viewing that time as a self-care experience, I found a lot of joy in taking care of my hair like a plant almost, nourishing and treating it well. I love to put on some spa music or jazz while I am in the shower and put alot of attention and care into my hair health! The last time I went to a salon was a few years ago for a silk press, and although the stylist was african american and trained to do my hair texture, she clearly didn't want to deal with my texture...ripped it out with the brush like she was hacking meat smh. My hairstyle looked fine afterwards but I had a headache and sore scalp for days after, because of how much she yanked and ripped at my delicate follicles. At one point, she even gave up on detangling it and just walked away for a "break" while my hair dried up and got even worse. They just don't want to put the time and effort to section the hair and do it right! Detangling for me is 15 minutes of work tops, when I section it correctly, remove the shed hairs early with my fingers, and soak my strands in the right type of conditioner. But these stylists don't want to do the work.
@@ellie5373 yes, I love doing my hair weekly. It’s a form of self care. My current routine has been working wonders for me. And yeah, a lot of these stylist don’t want to take their time.
Did you using bristle brush for flat ironing your hair instead comb? Bristle brush lot smoother results than the comb when you straighten.
No, I haven’t tried that
Beatiful results And hair
Thank you
lol i hate holding the brush in one hand and blow dryer in another, so i bought the dryer brush, wayy easier 🙌🏽
Yeah, the blow dryer brush is sooo much easier, thats how I was able to learn
Is your hair relaxed ?
No
We love a good hair routine!! Hair is so teaa🍵 😍
Thank you sis ❤
😍😍😍😍
I thought of doing my hair weekly - but was concerned about loosing curl pattern or damage from all the heat - any issues ?
@@STP255 The only time I had issues was when I went to the salon and they burned my hair off, I have a video posted about it. Doing this weekly will definitely losen your curls especially if you have fine hair strands like me.
Back off the keratin. Silicon + protien + keratin = NO. Deep conditioning and a trim soon. Be sure the products you use do not have protein, keratin even in small amounts. Try sulfate free products.. oil your scalp.
Can you give us an update
@@GiannaDodson-ku3dh coming soon 😊
@@NaomiIsles ok
One of the main reasons why I stopped going to salons they don’t tell you anything about what they put on your hair, the last time I went was about 2 years ago and the hair dresser was angry because I didn’t allow her to "deep condition" my hair she ended up frying my ends and demanded that I let her cut my "ends"👀 I just paid what I had to pay and left and never came back fast forward to last week I read some reviews about them slipping relaxers into conditioners.
Its honestly so messed up that we cant rely on “professionals”
Hey girly I use shea moisture castor oil shampoo and conditioner I also use wild hair growth oil three times a week I hope this helps 🎀💕
Yess a long vlog, do you guys ever plan to go on vacation together out the country?
yes, very soon actually
This was filmed back in January ya’ll , thats why it was so cold 😭 😂
Yeah your hair has been relaxed smh. I had the same thing but I didn’t realize it. Once the panini hit and I stopped going my unrequested perm grew out. I still love my girl but she was def relaxing me on the low. I also love that silicon mix bc I love the smell but now that I think about it I bet that masks the smell of the perm smh
I just wish they would ask for consent 😭 because this is definitely not okay
Yea it’s looks like she over processed it with the Botox treatment I got them done for 2 years and I stared doing them at home after my hair went from curly to wavy sometimes they leave in to long and sometimes they change brands and use it wrong 😑 when I did it at home the directions says leave in for 15-25 min at the salon it’s left in for 45 min to an hour and a half from the my hair was wavy till it grew out I did it myself for a bit but I prefer keratin it strong seals and smooth the hair but I can keep my curls
Glad that keratin works for you, any specific brands you recommend?
Bring your own products shampoo conditioner ❤❤😢😢
Sometimes I would even go with my hair already washed and conditioned , but this time I got lazyyy 😭
Redken shampoos chica!!!!
Which one? Ive tried the all soft, and the extreme, and I was not a huge fan of them
