I have to say that this lead me to a long path of thinking quite differently how our system works. Using the same principle, "is this encouraging or punishing of being good" really does wake one up how fucking bonkers our system is. The more asshole, the more selfish, the more sociopath you are, the more the system rewards you, and if you pay not only your share but a bit more just because you are good, you are punished.

I love David Mitchell. Yes, he's hilarious, but more than that, he's clearly a considerable intellect.

So to continue Davids' argument, which I believe to be true, the amount of tax you pay (or not evade but avoid) could be a calibrated barometer of how much of a cunt someone is. That should be a new Social Media (sounds a bit Black Mirror) score on a new platform that for sure isn't run by a US Tech company or a billionaire.

Problem is , when I use the legal tax system to pay less, people call that a "loophole". I've come to realize that "loophole" is a term used by stupid people to refer to any law or set of regulations that others understand better than them.

I like how he attacks the system rather than the people I'm not saying that the people using this loophole are off the hook but people and the media too often place the blame on the consequence rather than the source if people are allowed to profit off of corporate greed you have to ask who is letting them!

The thing is with this whole tax avoidance loophole system we have, is that those that have the most means to pay tax, are the ones who have the most freedoms to NOT pay tax, whereas the people who have gotten themselves into a slightly higher-than-average position through hard work, are the ones who DO have to pay tax, and pay more tax than anyone else. So as someone who leans more towards the neo-liberal or American libertarian ideas of taxation and privatisation, the very WORST thing you can do is to avoid paying tax in a system where the richer people's taxes are the most important to keep the national economy going, to to that is to benefit NOBODY but yourself, you do not contribute to furthering the economy, you only increase your own personal wealth. The whole point in low-tax society is is that the means of production is handled by people who serve the people who fund it, as well as financial incentives from external sources, it's, as Mitchell says FUCKING BONKERS, to be a person who is for lowering taxes to not pay taxes in a system where taxes are critical for keeping the economy you want to subsequently lower taxes for, to then not pay it at all!!

I don't understand why anybody, including the rich, should be pressured to pay more tax than they legally have to. The government makes the tax laws. If they're not happy that some people are using a legal loophole to avoid a certain tax, simply close the loophole. Make the laws stricter. You don't design a game and then complain that some players are using legal tactics to give themselves an unfair advantage. You wrote the rules. If you don't like them, change them.
