The Legacy: Realm of Terror - 100% Complete Playthrough (All Rooms Mapped)
-all rooms mapped
-all spells learned
-all puzzles solved
-all NPCs spoken to
-all notes read
this is a category i sort of arbitrarily came up with in order to show more of the game's content. i considered adding "all enemies defeated" to the list, but it's technically impossible due to infinite respawns in a couple of areas and not enough coffin dust to get rid of every skeleton in the mausoleum, so i didn't include it. i did go out of my way to kill a bunch of enemies to make up for it though.

played on DOSBox 0.74-3 with cycles set to max. no tools, mods or hacks were used. i have no idea why the any% route gives you MP overflow for the final boss but the 100% route doesn't. seems like an unintended glitch.

Re the magic points at the end, if it's not just a bug, I wonder if they deliberately put it in so that characters who hadn't focused on magic for the whole game still have a chance to complete it?
Seems like Maelstrom of the Mind has an effect that I hadn't appreciated - looks like it helps you dodge past enemies?

You’re a master. Love this game. What does that Demon Mask even do..? Does it have an effect on enemies? Also did I just see you drag a yellow book onto your spell book to skip having to choose “learn”??? You’re a power player.
never did figure out what the demon mask does. it might not do anything.
@@bleppybloppins I always figured it was supposed to give a bump to your character's "reason" level, although if that is the case that doesn't have much of an effect beyond the early stages of the game so I can't see it being very useful given you don't get it until later.

a few questions that no one asked but i'll answer here anyway: Q: why do you keep reading random notes on the floor? A: it grants xp. i need xp to level up my skills. (that's also the reason why i picked up a wakizashi and then threw it) Q: why are your mouse movements so slow and awkward? A: try playing this game for yourself and you will quickly learn why (lol). cursor handling in this game (and a lot of dos games) just feels awkward.
Do all notes grant XP, or just ones with specific useful information?

Absolutely crazy. Love that there’s speed runs of this game. Hugely underrated game. Now someone needs to do a 100% run. Doesn’t exist yet on RUclips.
if anyone is going to do a 100% run i assure you it will be me, but tbh defining the criteria of 100% for this game has proven extremely difficult to do. read every note, learn every spell, unveil every part of the map, talk to every npc, kill every enemy? technically it's impossible to kill everything because a few things respawn infinitely. but yeah, difficult to define what 100% is when the game does not track any of these statistics.
Yeah, never thought about the technical side of it. I’d be happy seeing just 100% map coverage. There’s a couple locked doors I’ve never been able to get in to, and I’m i’ve always been curious what’s behind them.

I played this a lot as a kid; didn't even know how to sprint lol. This is beautiful to see.
I just finished this with the invincibility cheat - it makes the game tolerable as negotiating the mazes are enough of challenge. Seriously, I wouldn't even bother playing this game without the hack. Anyway, I was was shocked at how depressing the ending is. I thought that maybe I had gotten the "bad ending" by missing something, but nope, there's only this ending.
Did you use a hack, or does the game have an internal cheat?

Thanks for the info. I think I'll pass it tho. I can honestly say that Lady Sword is an RPG with a good premise and some interesting graphics, but sadly it was completely ruined by a very repetitive gameplay and the worst level design I've ever seen in any game (I'm not exaggerating).
The level design isn't bad, but the game suffers from a lack of graphical queues as to what is going on. And that problem is compounded because the maps are so huge. Some of the tiles rotate you without your knowledge. And it would be nice if you could tell you were looking at 1-way walls. It would also great if the map marked to locations of warps. And there is a ridiculously high percentage chance you're going to have a fight whenever you go through a door, so much so that it is shocking when you don't get a fight. It's far form the worst game on the PC Engine Let's face it, the only reason to play this game is for the... erm... rewards.
Quite frankly, I was interested in the game only because before the translation, I was always curious about those severed floating heads.
I also played this translated game until the end. I'm glad I'm not the only one who suffered drawing maps (because the game is full of invisible teleports and traps that make you go back levels). Very boring and repetitive gameplay. At least ending was decent.
