Hello, I have some questions about this technology. Does the dehumidifier also have to be used at night? What relative humidity is recommended to maintain low incidences of powdery mildew (Leveillula taurica) in this crop?
Hi, Nighttime is the ideal time to use dehumidifiers. Plants still evaporate a lot of water during the night, which needs to be removed to maintain ideal RH levels and prevent mildews. As ventilating during the night is much less effective and efficient, that's when dehumidifiaction is most important. Regarding RH for pepper cultivation, 70-80% is a great range. What makes you choose DWC vs NFT? Was it timing of building them or cost?
DWC has more volume of water so easier to maintain ph with more time allowed to make adjustments and more water equals less of a swing in ph occurring larger room for root systems I love DWC less maintenance
