How To Run Inside Zone 10 Different Ways
There are a ton of ways you can run Inside Zone as an Offensive Coordinator. These are just 10 slightly different variations you can use to optimize your playbook. Formations are cheap. Concepts are expensive. So you need to be able to make the most out of your concepts. These are some great examples of how you can do that.

    You recommend running this off PA? Or straight up passing

    • @americanfootballacademy1741
      @americanfootballacademy1741 2 дня назад

      I would say it's best to run this off PA just to help keep the flat defenders down. So also not usually a great play for obvious passing downs.

    Hey I have a question. Have you seen someone run trips to one side but throw a tunnel screen to the back side receiver ?

    • @americanfootballacademy1741
      @americanfootballacademy1741 14 дней назад

      Yeah, this can be really effective, but depends on how you handle the OL and the backfield action. Essentially the problems are the corner and the will. Tackle can kick out the corner (needs to work very flat) and let's say you pair that with a pistol formation and have the first steps look like OZ to the trips, then you can influence the will, get him to commit and then the guard or center can get the right leverage on him. Safety is the next problem but you could even leave him unblocked as he'll be down field. I'd only run that vs a 2 high safety look. Hope that helps

    Can you explain the rules and techniques of pass protection. Half/full slide, blitzes

    • @americanfootballacademy1741
      @americanfootballacademy1741 14 дней назад

      If you watch any of my passing concept videos I always talk about the rules of pass protections (just sprinkled in). Never in depth. I can create a video specifically on that but not sure how soon I'll be able to. When it comes to the techniques, I generally don't touch on that as the RUclips algorithm does not favor people who post very in depth stuff haha But in my courses I have a technique manual for OL that covers everything. If you're looking for immediate answers, that's the fastest place to go. Links are somewhere in the description.

    I know its more common to run IZ to the 1 tech, I’ve always found it easier to the 3. Thoughts?

    • @americanfootballacademy1741
      @americanfootballacademy1741 20 дней назад

      I think running to the 1 tech works great when you want to get more vertical push (when uncovered you help backside teammate). If you want more lateral flow I can see how running to the 3 tech could be easier to create the cut back using opposite rule...(if uncovered, help playside). Both work though. In college we Auto checked every IZ to the 1 tech. I don't do that in my offense though. I teach the OL to be able to do both.

    2:45. Packets are running outside zone. Not inside zone. The reads are different and the backside line cuts off. The RB made a terrible read.

    • @americanfootballacademy1741
      @americanfootballacademy1741 Месяц назад

      Does look a bit wider. I still wouldn't classify this as an OUTSIDE zone as the aiming point is far to inside for that. Maybe wide zone. General idea remains though. Zone is Zone. Just about aiming points and leverage, but hopefully viewers still get the right idea from it.

    Coach, awesome video! thank you! I have 1 question that I'm hoping you can answer for me. When helping backside (center helping with a 2i or 1), what is the rule if the play side 3 tech slants A gap? Does that play side guard have to stay man on him? Obviously not letting him cross his face is ideal but it's a question I've always had. Thanks again coach!

    • @americanfootballacademy1741
      @americanfootballacademy1741 3 месяца назад

      I've always handled it by having the PSG be responsible for that. First step would be with the inside foot rather than the playside foot to help prevent that exact issue. RBs should also be aware of this as well so they can anticipate. And if you face a team that regularly slants **and it's giving you problems** then you can consider just adding a tag to help playside on occasion or switch your "base rule" for that game to help playside.
