Unboxing My New Ava Cabinet
I got a new embroidery machine, and with it I got a cabinet to put the machine on! This video shows the process of unboxing and building my new Ava Embroidery cabinet. The total process took about four hours, but I have it condensed down into just over 12 minutes.
This video is for entertainment only - it it not official instruction on how to build the cabinet, just a review of how the process worked for me. Please make sure you read the manual and all instructions that come with thee cabinet before you build yours!
Happy Embroidering!

My New Janome MB-7 - From Unboxing to First Stitchout!
Просмотров 24 тыс.3 года назад
This video is my experience unboxing my new Janome MB-7 embroidery machine. It goes from opening the box all the way to completing my first stitch out. I made some mistakes along the way, but was making sure my experience was authentic and not staged. The unboxing and set up is really the first half of the video and creating my first design and stitching it out is the second half.
Thank you for this video. I got it now. I want to know the product serial number. I will get the same model so I can learn from you.
This is the Janome MB-7. I think that is the only name it goes by. Good luck!
Again you have helped me big time. You take it slow because at this video time you had just gotten your machine. I have just gotten mine so you’re teaching me as you learned and this is so helpful!! I’ve got to look for more of your videos! Thank you!
Thank you! I need to make more videos - however now I have a different machine as I "grew out" of the MB-7. Thank you for your kind words - I am glad it helped you!
I love the way you explain things. Please make some instructional videos.
Thank you! I would love to do that, but haven't had the time. Just stitching away!
My pattern calls for more colours then the machine has. Is there a way to add the extra colours
If you only have seven needles and your design calls for 10 colors, at some point you will need to stop the stitch out and switch to a new color thread on three of your needles. Switching thread colors is fast and easy, so it should not be a big deal.
Would you recommend this as a first multi needle or would you get a different brand used ?
I liked it - but I found over time that I wanted more needles and a larger stitch area. So I ended up selling this one and getting a larger machine. but yes, it was a good machine.
Janome should send you a check. This video convinced me to buy the MB-7 to start my home business
LOL That would be nice!!! Unfortunately, they have not.
Preach about reading the manuals and watching the DVD! Congratulations on your new machine. xo
Thanks! I think reading the manuals is important!
that machine is pretty small for the price and the stitch area is kinda small for the price....
LOL You are probably right - but I did enjoy the machine while I had it. I have since traded up to a 15 needle that has a much larger stitching area. But you have to start somewhere!
Thank you so much for this video! I just bought the JMB7 from a friend of mine. Upgrading from a single needle.
That is how I started too - first with a single needle. Then I got this MB7. But then last summer I upgraded again to a 15 needle with a larger sewing field. I am loving it!
@@pberningphoto That is awesome! Congrats!
Thank you for giving the honest first look/learning. I am looking to go multi-needle, from single and this video was extremely helpful in which machine will be best for me . Happy Stitching!!
You are welcome! Best of luck in finding the perfect machine for you!
GREAT VIDEO Thanks from Texas. I have saved this link because I will have mine soon. :)
Thank you! Glad you liked it - good luck with your new machine!
Thank you for such an informative video. Where did you purchase?
I bought it from Missouri Sewing Machine Company
When you will gift to me this machine 🤣
LOL!!! Right... would be nice, though, wouldn't it? If I win the lottery someday then maybe we can talk about that! But I will have to start buying tickets I suppose...
@@pberningphoto 😂😂 okay from now on daily I will pray for your lottery 😍😀
Hello! I just purchased this machine, and I cannot get the tension set correctly! While some of the stitching looks great on the front, the bobbin thread is not showing on the back. Then, the other stitches are cray loopy! Any suggestions? Thanks so much!
Congrats on getting your new machine! I would double check the tension for all of your threads. Plus the bobbin tension. Usually loopy threads are a sign of a tension issue somewhere
Nice
Thank you!
Thanks a lot... love from India
Thanks for watching!
Hi Patricia. I watched your video a year ago and I’m finally getting my machine! It should be delivered tomorrow. So after having your machine for a year, are you still loving it? Have you had any issues with it? Just curious, as we both know it’s a big investment! Thank-you and happy sewing!!😊
Congrats on getting your new machine! I hope you love yours as much as I love mine. NO issues at all! Well, occasional operator error, but that's on me! Happy sewing to you, too!
I FINALLY did my first stitch outs today! YEAH! I know I will love this machine. Thanks for your reply. Have a great week-end! 😊
Just wondering, when you put in new needles, does the grooved part above the eye face outward or towards the back? Thank-you! 😊
Mam I want some help in mb4 embroidery machine.i want big frame to fix and how to choose other frames
I am sorry, I am not sure how to help you. I don't think this machine takes any frames that are larger than the M1 frame.
Great video. I sure wish you would do more !
Thank you! I keep thinking I need to do that but I haven't gotten around to it yet. My next one will be on re-threading the machine. Stay tuned!
Awesome. I totally need all the help I can get. I just got my MB7 this week! Looking forward to seeing more videos
Hello Patricia I have problems with my MB4S, I cannot do any embroidery, all the embroidery designs are distorted and not aligned, I did everything that the manual indicates and I cannot fix it, hopefully you can help me please ! Thanks you
I wish I could help you - I can only recommend taking it either back to the place where you bought it, or to a sewing machine repair place. But it sounds like your alignment is off.
Did you receive the machine as an endorsement deal or did you purchase the machine?
Hi Catherine! I bought the machine - It would have been nice to get it as an endorsement deal! LOL! But no luck. I am a retired teacher, so I guess it was my opportunity to "teach" what I learned when I opened mine!
Thanks for the video, it helped me a lot, I have my new embroidery machine and I am also trying to learn, only that I have loose tension, could you tell me in what number do you have the tension of the threads? Thank you
On my machine, all of the dials on the rear part of the top of the machine (pre-tension control dials) have the indicators set straight back towards the thread. The dials towards the front on the top (tension control) are all set to 5. One thing I do when I am threading my machine is to press down on the thread between the two tension guides with one finger when I pull it through the machine. You can see a little wheel spinning between the openings of the machine under the tension controls so you can tell if the thread is seated into the tension disk correctly or not. Best of luck to you with your new machine - have fun!
You are a rockstar and legend. Thank you for this. Clear instructions, I don't don't even need to read or watch the instruction manual but I will anyways. Thank you all the way from Cali..
LOL a tockstar AND a legend! Thank you! I had no idea…. But enjoy your machine. You will be a rockstar on it before you know it!
How much
I paid $6000 for it
Does not have a automatic needle thread???
No, this does not. But I don’t have any problem threading it.
Thank you for an entertaining and informative video. I am thinking about getting a machine. If you don’t mind me asking, what are your main projects? What are the main benefits of the multi-needle over the single needle in a domestic situation (I.e. low turnover). Thanks.
Not having to change thread color all the time is huge for me. Also think it is much easier to hoop items and you don’t get extra fabric caught under the needle nearly as often as on a single needle machine.
Thank you for this video! I'm about to get a Janome MB4 and I think the setup will basically be the same. I can't wait!
That's great - best of luck and have fun!!!
Where did u get ur machine?
I got it at Missouri Sewing Machine Company in Kansas City, Missouri
@@pberningphoto thanks
I am so excited - I just purchased one of these myself! BTW - the cat tail in the doorway at the beginning was what I focused on! LOL
Congratulations on your new machine! I hope you love it as much as I do! The cat is very silly, and he provides endless entertainment! Glad you enjoyed him! :-)
Hello, I’ve noticed that you haven’t uploaded any more videos about the machine, would you be willing to sell it?
No, I am using the machine a LOT! I am not interested in selling it at all. I just haven't had time to make anymore videos, but hope to do so soon! Thanks for asking!
@@pberningphoto any issues with it?? Considering buying it..
@@beautiful_9ightmare704 My machine is not for sale. But there are lots of them out there! I have had no issues with it at all. I have had it just over a year now and I use it a LOT!
Loved how you asked it why it didn't stitch the 7. Great how clearly you explained it all.
Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it!
What size is biggest hoop? I always use my practice pieces for something. Always need a shopping bag.
The biggest one that I am aware of is 240X200 - not as large as I would like, but I have a single needle machine that can do a larger field for bigger designs.
Thanks for the video. I would love a multineedle one day
Thank you, Cynthia! I am sooo lucky to finally have one!
Hi, what brand of thread did you use? I just bought my Janome MB7 but it keeps showing Rethread ( thread break) even though it's not . Im sure I threaded correctly. Adjusted the sensitivity and Ignored short stitches.. TIA
Hi! I use Gunold thread, mostly.
Thank you for your video. It has helped me so much! I recently got an Elna 970, which I was told is the same machine as the Janome MB7. I really hope you make more videos😊
Thank you Debra! I hope so too!
Price
I paid $6000 for this machine on an end of the year special.
I just bought my machine today and I am very excited to get started. Yours was the first video I watched since I am one of those non-instruction book readers and I would like to thank you for making this video because it was very helpful to me.
Thank you Juliett! I hope you are enjoying your machine by now. Thanks for watching!
kitties in the back jumping soo soo cute
LOL! You are the first person who has said anything about that. I wondered if anyone had noticed! Thanks for watching!
Good demonstration I will have to do the same thing thanks for this demonstration good luck and wish me and others luck.
Yes, for sure - I wish you the best of luck. I am sure you will learn quickly!
I moved my sergers also my machine will go the same table you have.
I really like that table. Did a video building it too. That video is not nearly as long as this one, thank goodness!
I am so glad you posted this video, I am getting my machin on Monday 5/10/21. This is helping me a whole lot.
Greetings, I am considering this machine but the reviews on Amazon were very negative. I look forward to hearings your review and recommendations. Thank you so much.
Good luck!! Just read the manual and watch the videos on RUclips - there are lots out there!
I am really happy with mine - but there IS a steep learning curve, that many people don't have the patience to get through.
Lucky!! I have the MB4 and I love it!!
Yes I am - I really like this machine!
How long have you had this machine? And have you had any problems with it? I’m am going back and forth between this and the brothers pr670e
I got my machine on January 5th of this year. So not long. I have had no problems with it at all and really love the quality of the stitching. The quality for the price is quite good, I think.
I am getting the Elna version of this machine on Monday... Your video is really helping me prepare for unboxing and setting up
so I got the machine and set it up.. tomorrow is threading it and testing it.
Good for you, Lynnea! I hope you like your new machine!
@@pberningphoto I love it... Honestly the hardest thing I had to figure out was threading the darn thing.. Up down thru round and round.. etc. But I am smart enough to change the threads by knotting it and pulling it thru now. Between your video and a the manual and some other ones I have already stitched out 2 designs where I changed the needle for the color I wanted in a spot. I floated a blanket to stitch on etc. The stitch outs are fabulous
You should have used a darker thread in Bobbin so that we could see what was going on...you cant see light colors on light Fabric....Ok finally you used thread that shows up!
Yes, the white for the first letter was not a good choice, was it? But I was in learning mode so next time I do a demo of some sort I will know better! thanks for the comment!
I hear this EMB is complicated, how is it working out for you?
Myron, I am LOVING this machine! I have had it now for almost two months, and I have done multiple stitch outs with it. No problems of any consequence. Occasional thread breaks, but that's it so far. Yes, there is a learning curve. And I am not happy that the stitch area is smaller than on my single needle machine. But overall I am very very pleased!
Happy to see your cabinet came in. Great job at putting it together. And such a great idea of putting the rubber pad under the machine 😍😍
Thank you Meeba! I was relieved for sure - it seems that a lot of people are having to wait a lot longer than I did. Not sure how I got so lucky!
I'm looking to purchasing the janome. I dont know much about the brand except brother, but I dont have to budget for brother but need a less expensive multi needle. This video has help me know that I want to proceed.
That is great, Lasandra! I have had my Janome just over a month now and I am very happy with it! I looked at a number of brands before buying and I feel for the price this is a good choice.
Hi I got the elna 7 but having a hard time uploading to this machine. My brother and babylock one needle is easier than this. I just am frustrated.
What have u done to help with that
I am not sure I understand your question - I would agree in some ways, my single needle Viking is easier. But for the convenience of having the multiple needles, I will likely use this machine much more than my single needle.
do you how to find the hours on the machine ? I know this machines doesn't have stitch count but rather hours
Hold down the Bobbin Winder button and the Stitch Forward buttons at the same time and then turn on the machine. The screen with that information will pop up when it starts.
@@pberningphoto thank you 🙏🏼 this works
Your video was very helpful. I’m thinking of getting this machine but haven’t committed yet. Your going through the manual and fixing your mistakes was a bonus. Thank you.
I am glad this was helpful to you! Thank you for the compliment!
