The composer, Kegani, who was known as Ke (毛) back to the day he and his good old band Kairo was in doujin music scene, wrote this song with inspiration from the original Tsukihime, about more than 10 years ago. As a Kairo fan, I'm glad Ke now is a success musician, working on the project that he's been a fan for years, and this song of him, one of my most favorite kairo song, now has a new life in tsukihime fandom. Comparing the new version sung by Reona, I still prefer this one sung by 556t. Today is 20th . Long long ago, in the land of Kikyougahara, there lived a fox named Genba no Jougitsune. It was the head of all the foxes that roaming around the land, they lived joyful life, and with shapeshifting ability, they enjoyed deceiving human everytime. As time goes by, Genba no Jougitsune get old and it decided to retire as the head of clan. But before retiring, there's still a concern stuck in it, the presence of a large black monster that appeared no so long ago, running through Kikyogahara. Without greeting Genba no Jougitsune, it silently spewed smoke and ran over killing several of its clan. One day, the fox clan decided that monster have to pay for everything. They disguised themselves as the same black monster and went head to head with it, the final battle of Genba no Jougitsune. One day, on the railway through Kikyogahara, the steam locomotive was running normaly, then suddenly another train appeared in front of it. The engineer panicked and hit the emergency brake, but the two trains collided head-on. However, nothing happened to the locomotive and it left Kikyogahara as if there is no other locomotive that hit it. But they found countless foxes' corpse were scattered on the railway. . That is the story behind this song, the story of 桔梗ヶ原の玄蕃之丞狐 (Genba no Jougitsune of Kikyougahara) from Shiojiri, Nagano, told from the Meiji era, when Japan start their industrialization with powerplant, ship, railways... The industrialization set Japan on the way of wealth, yet there always something is left behind. The Folklore-club published by the circle ちょこびゐる include mangas, novels and music feature the Hifuu girls studying folklore from all over japan. I was like only look at these albums because they got Tengu no Mai participated, and I rarely upload instrumental, but this folklore really moved me, that why it's here.
