Japan Matsuri is the UK's biggest free festival of Japanese culture, food and music, taking place on Trafalgar Square in the heart of London. For the first time in 2020, the festival went online wit ha 20 hour stream of the best of Japanese culture and music. Relive the action on our RUclips channel.

This work takes as its inspiration the Ryukyu Kingdom (Okinawa), which has a long history. The costume uses a Bingata pattern unique to Okinawa, and the cloth represents the tropical sea that surrounds Okinawa. At its heart, the piece is a physical manifestation of the wish to rebuild Shurijo Castle, which was completely destroyed in October 2019.

Not to be offensive or anything but, is it necessary to own a lot of Koto? Im planning to learn the 箏.
You'll find that a lot of teachers can lend you a koto for the lesson. Ayako Hotta-Lister who features in the video teaches the koto
