I’m a certified lexus technician and my Neighbour brought me his Nissan versa with this code. First thing I checked was his oil and it was very low and then his air filter which was the wrong one and was letting too much air inside. I told him to get the proper air filter and oil and I would use one of the bg products to clean the engine oil and additives for the gas and clean his trothle and I told him to drive the car couple miles and to come back to check it monitors where ready and guess what people it worked. It passed smog. My suggestion is start with the cheapest fix and if it don’t work then move up the latter till you do the ecu. But sometimes little things fix big issues good luck

There's a Technical Service Bulletin for the 2007-2009 Nissan Versa. Classification: EC09-024. Reference number used is: NTB09-116. Dated: October 23,2009. OP Code is: DE97AA. Basically, reprogramming the ECM ( Electronic Control Module ). Nissan is aware of it if you experience a P1421 code. Just make an appointment and have them reprogram the ECM.

My girl has a 2010 versa sedan with about 110k miles.Check engine light came on. Brought it to Advance auto, they reprogrammed the ECU for free. ( All Auto zones, Advances, Pep boys, O'Reillys will do it at no cost)

hey, just wondering how you got the vinyl underneath the rain guards? did you remove them? if so were they hard to remove?
