Emily, using the same techniques of analysis, do you have any plans to confirm, dis-confirm or to gauge the likelihood of the claim that the prophet Muhammad flew to Heaven on a winged horse ?

Did you cover his insistence that anything written on Islam must be acceptable to the practitioners of Islam in his book Islam and History (1957, 1959)? I know of no other religious group or area of historical study where the faith or people being studied is given what amounts to a veto power over what is written about. If there is another group with such a scholarship censoring power, please tell me who or what this group is! Also, what is so special about Islam that it deserves this kid glove treatment? Christianity doesn't receive such treatment at the hands of scholars studying it! Nor can I think of another major world religious tradition treated with such reverence by the scholarly community.
