Hey I just found your show on RUclips and congratulations it’s a very cool watch but I have to correct you regarding the R.E.M. song “Everybody Hurts” the music was primarily written by the drummer Bill Berry but It was Michael Stipe the lead singer that wrote the lyrics as he does for all other R.E.M. songs.

One of my favorites from the era. As a kid I thought it was a funny song because of how pissed off she sounded. Older, everything is perfect. It tells such a vivid story and I can feel the "country." Hey hand gestures, hips and slapping were reminiscent of riding a horse or something. It's brilliant.

This Karen would explode if she finds out that Babymetal is one of the biggest modern metal bands today (being that they're from Japan and they are women) and has been doing headline shows in many countries including music festivals. And that these three young ladies are richer than her.

One of the best things about Babymetal is how diverse their music is so I hope you don't think for a second that this is how all their music sounds like. They've survived 14 years in one of the toughest industries are as popular as they are now because there is something for everyone. And also because of their talent and amazing live shows of course. Gimme Chocolate was filmed at their Legend 1997 Concert which was to celebrate Su-metal's 16th birthday in 2013. Yui & Moa were both 14 and a half here. If you want to see how far they've come and matured in the last 10 years then I suggest Monochrome from their 4th album, the Live from the PIA arena concert held last year.

Going over the comments again, most stayed positive. And most of those who didn't did not use personal attacks. In part most Babymetal fans know, Babymetal is unusual and it takes time to take in what they are trying to do. For example what you said about immature, seemed to have hit a nerve with some, but immature could be explained in multiple ways here. Obviously their image is gonna be immature, they were just kids which fits. Also they are part of the Japanese kawaii (adorable/cute) subculture. But I think some people took it as meaning: unprofessional, etc. I'll stop here, because I know RUclips will just count it as engagement and maybe you are just trying to stir the pot.

No you don't have to pretend, you just don't have to be disrespectful. A lot of people don't like BABYMETAL but some of them are even happy for their existence & give them benefit for their future, something you completely decide to disrespect, “these girls were babies when doing this.” Yes they were & as babies they were more mature & professionally capable than any adult, that's why they earned what they have + they don't carry prejudice within them, they helped many bands & people out there with their embarrassing childish performance but still as humble as ever.

See the hand positions making gun shapes. As in a kid friendly kawaii way. Su is the only one worrying about her weight. Moa will eat that faster than you can say Yui would you like some. While this is the song that went international for them it's not their first song. Doki Doki Morning is their very first song. The foxhole is deep and full of surprises

If you wanted to introduce someone to Babymetal this is the last MV you should have chosen. Proper live versions are good but this is studio audio dubbed over a live performance and the 'Babybones' chaps in skeleton outfits are miming at that performance anyway. It's not bad but can turn some off Babymetal forever. Try something recent. There are some excellent videos out now from the Legend MM concerts in March 2024.

"I find it immature", well duh they where just tweens when this came out. I would agree with other comments that this is not the song to introduce Babymetal to anyone, the song can be off-putting simply because of their age, the reason this song became so popular was the shock value . Babymetal have been around for over 14 years now and have honed their live shows in to some of the best out there today. They have toured and opened for some of the biggest groups in music, Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Guns and Roses, Lady Ga Ga, Korn..... They have gained admiration from countless biggies in the metal community because of their crazy work ethic and what they bring to each and every show. Babymetal have been responsible for opening the floodgates of female lead Japanese metal bands in the last few years to the west. Babymetal are currently on fire, since their latest album "The Other One" they have been touring almost non stop and have done a bunch of collaborations with other artist, they recently did a colab with "Electric Call boy " called "Ratatata" that went to number one on the Billboard rock and heavy music chart in the US. Su, the lead singer is currently leading all nominations for female metal singer of the year at Metal Awards 2024 by 14% of the vote in a field of 15 nominees so I would tend to think they are doing something right. Every song in their library sounds very different to the each other, righting them off with listing only to Give Me Chocolate is a mistake many have made, I have seen countless reactors who initially snubbed their noses at BM after only hearing one song comeback for another listen and now are fans. You would be doing yourself a disservice not listening to some other tracks, they are very talented and extremely entertaining and the musicians the "Kami Band" are beasts. I would suggest watching "Monochrome Live at PIA Arena 2023" to see what they are all about as grown ups.

This is such an unfortunate song to get to know BabyMetal. Because it is so divisive. Think you should give BabyMetal a chance to win you over, so you don’t miss out on what is an incredible musical experience. I have linked to a couple of their songs that I hope will win you over below, but first let me explain why this song is such a bad introduction. Yui and Moa only use the weedeling voices in this song, I guess it is supposed to sound annoying because they are begging for chocolate, but many like you find it very offputing. It is also the song where the switches between Jpop and Metal are the most jarring. In addition to this the actual recording of this video is probably the worst version available. It looks like a live recording, but it is not. It is the studio track put on top of a video of a concert. Most of the “Official” videos without the word live in the title are like this, so they are to be avoided. Su-Metal is 16 in this video (It is her 16th birthday celebration), but the sound recording is from when she was 15. She is currently 26 and her voice is on a completely other level. The band in the background is not a real band. They did not have the money to hire professional musicians, so these are actors pretending to play the instruments. (They are known as the BabyBones. So in reality the only “live” thing in this video is the girls dancing. BabyMetal live is so much better than the studio recordings, because the sound technicians have not been allowed to “improve” Suskas voice. The Kami band (God band) only play live. They are a small selection of rotating world class musicians. The crowd interaction is missing from this video, and The One (BabyMetals fanbase) is an important How about trying something much newer and live? I have selected a three songs below that represent some of the diverse music of BabyMetal. If you watch these three and still don’t like BabyMetal then BabyMetal is not for you 🙂, and that is ok.
