    Awesome build. Did you guys use the exhaust manifold provided in the erod package? How did you route the steering shaft? Are you still required to tailpipe every 2 years? Thanks!

    • @TheAutoDojo
      @TheAutoDojo 2 месяца назад

      Thank you! Yes the exhaust manifold that came along with the EROD engine was used. Some pie cuts to fit the catalytic converter was necessary in order to clear the chassis and fit correctly under the vehicle. The steering shaft we used was a two piece kit we sourced from Condor speed. They now sell it online and it uses a ujoint to connect the two pieces. This helps clear the stock manifolds quite nicely. In terms of SMOG and emissions, it still needs to pass tests, which I believe include the sniffer. Luckily the car is BAR legal and it has already passed its official tail pipe emissions test earlier this year. So we should be good to go in the future. Thanks for watching!

    • @Mark-zr3td
      @Mark-zr3td Месяц назад

      @@TheAutoDojo Right on, thanks for the info. I was hoping the BAR sticker followed the engine testing rules rather than the chassis, but I’m sure it’s still super nice just to be able to drive around legally regardless. How do you feel about the swap after having driven it for so many months? Any regrets? Do you struggle with traction when on spirited drives? I’m on the brink of taking this route for my 95 as well but I keep thinking that there’d be too much torque to confidently push the car through some canyon turns.

    • @TheAutoDojo
      @TheAutoDojo Месяц назад

      Correction, the smog rules follow the engine. So it gets treated like a 2011 Camaro essentially, including all the necessary OBD tests. The car feels great, definitely much more peppier. I will say the two piece driveshaft takes some getting used to as it doesn’t feel as “direct” but it was the compromise we had to make to make the package work. I’d say I’d need to get some stiffer springs and dial in my suspension a bit since the LS engine is a little heavier up front. I think with a stiffer setup it would be great at the track or autox.

      Man that’s tough! I just kept searching around with a small flashlight and I think I fished it out using an extension magnet. It’s probably stuck on top of the skid plate. It might have fallen out if you’ve been driving it around already, but it doesn’t hurt to check if you can find it. As long as you were able to mount it with some bolts you should be good!

I'm a programmer, not a mechanic. I've already made a deal with the guy I found on the marketplace; the picture he sent looks clean. Apologies, but “suspension overhaul” includes quality coil-overs, new bushings all around, and reinforcements- all labor intensive tasks that include dropping the subframe. The price includes parts and labor. Of course this is situational, depending on the price of your own parts and if you do the labor yourself. Thanks for watching 👍🏽

    You start off by saying “these cars” any car on the planet when lowering it will change the geometry of your suspension. It’s not just limited to this car brother. You also stated loosing contact patch because of the camber. When lowering as much as you are it is negligible. Beat you can do for the rear is rear toe and caster. Front is top hats and caster bushings (if you went a bit lower maybe some toe rods for bumpsteer). It’s obvious you’re regurgitating terrible information, literally no due diligence if this is the video you put out. You also stated that caster wasn’t perfect (caster is supposed to be stagger due to how roads are built) and you also took out camber from the bottom (that’s where the eccentric bolt is at) so you extended your track width and not bring in the wheel from the top which requires (rear upper control arms). Once again lowering ANY car you need control arms when lowering it to get the best alignment. I hope no one takes this as real info. Also chassis warnings are literally on all new cars not a BMW things. You are out here giving people info and being trash at it, do your homework. This is pathetic.

    • @TheAutoDojo
      @TheAutoDojo 6 месяцев назад

      That’s definitely true, usually an alignment after springs or coils will fine tune geometry. Don’t usually need to buy caster bushings or lower control arms/ camber plates to do that though, but in this particular instance I did. Usually lowering springs can still be brought into spec, but can’t do it with this car for some reason. Thanks for the feedback and for watching. Appreciate you brotha 🙌🏼

    I think those nuts with the teeth are meant to be installed before your attach the diffuser. You tighten the screw into them, then sink it down into the plastic in which the teeth grab and keep it from spinning. Shouldn’t have to reach about to the back side for anything

    • @TheAutoDojo
      @TheAutoDojo 7 месяцев назад

      You are correct, the nuts with the teeth will bite into the bumper to prevent them from spinning. The issue is when you tighten the screw, it’s nearly impossible to tighten the nut/bolt without the nut spinning. Definitely challenging. Thanks for watching!

    • @TheAutoDojo

      Hey brotha! Thanks for the feedback man, I appreciate you. The rear seat is held in with two levers in the top of the back seats, if you pull those, the two parts of the backseat fold forward. You can remove them from there. The low portion or the bench just lifts off. Just pull it upwards and it’ll come off. There’s no clips or anything to break. Hope that helps man. Thanks for watching!

    • @TheAutoDojo
      @TheAutoDojo 8 месяцев назад

      The SPL arm has a little ball that the sensor arm attaches to. It’s in the same location as the stock control arm. I will say that you might have to zip tie that area it attached to to keep the sensor at an acceptable level. Sometimes the sensor will go off because there’s too much play where it connects.

      Got a link to the resistor kit? Also do you know what size was the bolt on the steering wheel

      @@Mynameisdiy a.co/d/bfezVaz , it’s overkill to buy this many, but for the price it’s not bad. I believe the center bolt is 16mm if I’m not mistaken. Thanks for watching!

    Curious how you deal with cali’s smog laws since you’re tuned? Debating whether I want to stay stock or eventually do JB4 (getting a locked 2021 Supra).

    • @TheAutoDojo
      @TheAutoDojo 9 месяцев назад

      More than likely I will swap in the stock downpipe, uninstall the flex fuel kit, and reflash the stock tune for smog purposes. It’s a pain in the ass but it’s the only way to do it legit (amongst other questionable SMOG options). SMOG has been a hot topic especially with tuning. As far as I know, I am unsure if SMOG stations can fail a car for seeing a previous flash on the ECU. This is something a couple of us will have to find out when we get there. I’d assume, worst case scenario, we would flash back to stock from the dealers; otherwise, JB4 would be a great option as it doesn’t overwrite anything and just tricks the ECU to adjust boost/ timing.

    Nice vid, I learned a lot but still had some questions! 1: Do all coilovers get rid of the adjustable dampers (& is that what they call “EDC”)? 2: What is the widest *square* wheel set up possible (*without* any spacers or widebody modifications)? I’m thinking either 18 or 19 inch rims. 3: How low would you recommend going on coilovers & what camber/caster specs? I want something that has both function & form (but more on the function side).

      Hey, glad you found the video helpful! Hopefully I can answer some of your questions. 1. To my knowledge, any aftermarket coil over system for the A90 Supra would get rid of the stock electronic damper control. I believe EDC delete kits are used alongside coil over systems to allow traction control to be turned on and off without errors. Using lowering springs, or in my case adjustable HKS springs, would allow you to keep the EDC while giving you height adjustability. The best of both worlds. 2. Personally I run a 19x10 ET25 in front and 19x11 ET25 in the rear with a flush setup. This is pretty aggressive with outing running a widebody or over fenders. Strictly going for function, I know a handful of folks who run TE37s with 19x9.5 ET22 front and 19x10.5 ET35 rear. Those wheels are also available in the 18” variety if you prefer a meatier tire setup. 3. Camber and caster are really up to you. In my particular case I run settings to accommodate my wheel and tire setup. Ideally you would want a little more camber in the front than the rear to give the car a bit more oversteer. I’d check out the A90 forums to see what other people run. -2.5 in the front and -2.0 in the rear is a good place to start. Really depends on your driving style 👍🏽

    Where did u get the bumper trim for the quad exhaust? Did u cut it or buy the one that comes like that?

    • @TheAutoDojo
      @TheAutoDojo 9 месяцев назад

      My exhaust fabricator cut some of the plastic off from the bumper trim. He was able to place another muffler between that and my aftermarket fancywide diffuser to make the quad setup workout 👍🏽

      @@TheAutoDojo okay I'll do the same. Back in the day a company used to sell an m3 diffuser trim made for quads. But they been out of business since like 2018.

      Ah yea, a set piece would have been nice, but this option didn’t turn out too bad. Was definitely the cheaper route but it looks great. Definitely stands out from the E36 crowd.
