Why do Aphrodite cry?
She feels angry and upset for ODYS mother
Because Odysseus was so prideful that he couldn't help bragging to Polyphemus when he thought he'd won. If he hadn't done that, Poseidon wouldn't have drowned 500 of his men and made his journey home a nightmare, and his mother may not have died of grief

The Greeks had a word for pride that causes one's own downfall/suffering: _hubris_ , which is literally and textually Odysseus' greatest flaw.
