If those musicians, who were great, were ever needed to defend the UK, then you would be in trouble> Canadian military band musicians need to take basic infantryman training before they start then a refresher every year if they wish to get paid. A colleague of mine who was a female physed teacher, and professional French horn and baritone horn player was in a couple of reserve Canadian Military bands and had to undergo 2 weeks of combat refresher training. I talked to her after her last session and she, at a very fit 55, said that she was the oldest one, by a number of years, crawling around in the mud, field stripping and leaning rifles and throwing flash bangs. She said that the next time she had to do it she would leave the paid portion of the band and just be an unpaid player.

The WO2 was there when I was locked up. He was a complete cunt. He made it pretty clear we were all equal pieces of shit. Scum of the British army, he used to call us. They use to give us a radio every Friday evening. Thing was fucking useless though, as it had no antenna. Trying to shower was a job. The shower gel was fucking waterproof. We were aloud to smoke roll ups in our cells though. 6 man cell and I feel sorry now for the blokes who didn’t smoke 😂. If my face wasn’t facing the door while I was sleeping, the screw would bang and shout at the door until I turned around. Bed blocks every morning and no talking while eating scoff in the cookhouse. Only thing I learned was that I had more of a reason to hate the army.
