Today we are answering one of the most frequently asked questions - how much does it cost to convert a van?
When building our van we knew we wanted to achieve a luxury finish on as much of a budget as possible. Although we think we have achieved this, it is fair to say that we were a little shocked by the overall cost of our van conversion.
We completely break down the cost of our van conversion room by room and discuss exactly how much we spent on each component. So, if you are in the build phase of your van conversion and want a similar set-up and finish as us, you are not in for any nasty surprises. Especially because we didn't have to justify our choice of having a predominantly pink van to a man! Gorgeous and feminine and PINK!😊 I would add a drop-down sink in the shower that uses the shower nozzle and drains to the floor as I don't like spitting, etc in the kitchen sink. Although I don't nead the top bunk, it would be perfect as a loft 4 my kitties 🐈⬛🐈

Now that is a fantastic van build and perfectly suited to who you are and how you'll actually live in it! I can totally see how that engineering design degree has come into play i.e. sliders on the inside of the benches to avoid the oil. Updated: I just happened to see your channel, and others similar channels recently, and I think that you, and others sharing their actual reality, and some have expressed some of the up, and down sides to van, RV, or vehicle living. I believe that it is very helpful, and beneficial to others who may be thinking about this type of living without actually thinking through, about the some of the realistic problems that could occur with vehicle or van living etc. People need to know what up sides there are, as well as some of the down sides of vehicle living. I believe this channel, and other channels have been informative to others, including myself. Although, I am NOT living in a vehicle or anything like this. I feel that you , and others RUclipsrs sharing this with your viewers will be very helpful. I wish you ALL the Best with your traveling endeavors. I shared this with another traveler as I watched their RUclips channel for the first time, as yours, and I shared with them this information that may be helpful to you as well to others. Therefore, I would also like to suggest a few Safety tips, and items that may help you, or others in your viewing audience. Although, you may have knowledge of this already, I am not sure, so I hope this will be helpful to you, others or someone. *Keep a Extra working cellphone with you or in your vehicle. You can purchase inexpensive phone with a very low monthly price between 25, 35, 45, dollars a month with unlimited data and text, and some have Nationwide coverage Do your research for the best fit for you Carry Several Extra portable phone chargers, and cables. Consider theses items: *Mini portable power charging station. I have also seen outdoor portable solar powered power stations, that can be recharged from sunlight this may be very useful to have, to power your devices. *Cellular signal booster for outdoor use, and camping situations to boost or amplify your cell reception, Research to see what you prefer. *Very Inportant: Invest in a SOS distress electronic signal device, this a kind of device can send out a distress signal with your exact location. There are various types of these devices, and including devices that can be used when boating or camping situations. *Some have emergency Strobe lights SOS signaling with location alerts, and location updates that can be sent to your family, and emergency first responders. Some can be synchronized with your smart watch or phone. You can check online, and on Amazon, research what SOS devices will be a good fit for you. *Mini portable vehicle battery charger-( portable vehicle battery jumper cables ) *Vehicle Jumper cables *Keep a Fire extinguisher handy Mounted Dashboard camera front and rear possibly. Exterior vehicle cameras Interior vehicle cameras *Flashlights or pluggin spotlights *Portable spotlights, and lanterns Keep a few whistles around with you, and in your vehicle possibly in your vehicle’s center console *A set of long range 2 way radios, walkie talkies, with others during trips, some have 100 mile radius keep for emergencies. Use your own discretion regarding the use of any weapons. Don’t forget to bring Bear Spray Pepper spray Where is allowed Keep in contac with your family, friends, keep them updated etc. Although, I just noticed your RUclips channel, and other similar channels. You seem Very Aware of your surroundings and Alert, and you may be aware of many of these suggestions, however, I Don’t know, so I just posted this anyway to help anyone who may benefit from these suggestions. Keep up with the latest Weather Updates, beware and prepare for unexpected Weather events and conditions. *in the van - we do try to outsourced showering as much as possible, predominantly beach showers! We promise we are not gross and dirty all the time! 😂

God, I love your built. what is the measurement on your sofa and how many cm are there between the shoe coffee table over to the sink?
Hi there, there is approximately 50cm between our coffee table and kitchen! It feels surprisingly more spacious due to them being curved 💜❤️💖

Greetings form New Hampshire. Wonderful van coinversion. Do you live in this van in the winter months. Is the water tank insulated?
Hi there, we try to avoid winter as much as possible, however, it survives a Scottish winter no problem. Our fresh water tank is house within our wan, so it doesn't require insulation. Our grey water tank is underslung. So far it has coped well in winter, however, if we do go somewhere super cold in the future, we definitely will be insulated it! 😁

Rick56- Yes, today it is one pound sterling to $1.18. When I lived in England, back in the 1990s, a pound was worth $1.50.

How does only 300ah provide you with enough electric to cook, shower and charge scooters etc? Usually for people with both gas and electric they need about that.
We have lithium batteries which allow us to run then completely down, unlike the more commonly used leisure batteries which are only able to operate between 50-100% charged, essentially giving us twice the battery capacity. Furthermore, they are getting charged by solar power and also from our vans battery, so charging them up really isn't an issue. We have honestly never really suffered with low batteries, especially in the summer months. Worst case scenario we could book into a campsite as we have a shore power hook up installed too! 👍 Hope this answers your question 💗💜❤️
@@thispairgothere thanks so much! I originally wanted fully electric but so many people say it's just not feasible if you want to shower and cook with electric. Do you think you'd still be able to run like this in the UK for 3 days off grid?
@@laurenmichele2029 Without a doubt! we travel around the UK extensively from April to October last year and never had an issue. The most battery-draining thing in our van is the water heater, however, we don't use it daily so it isn't a problem :)

Also, are you possibly able to tell me how many amp your water heater uses per shower? Sorry for all the questions, I'd be so happy if I could run completely off electric!
@@laurenmichele2029 We aren't currently planning an electrics video, however, we do hope to publish a video of the exact cost breakdown of our van, which includes all the electrical components we used, and how much the cost. I couldn't say for certain exactly how many amps the water heater uses, however, it typically uses about 20% of our battery, so I guess, approximately 60Amps.
