I was here for the first part of this celebration, watched the Glenbrook and Eureka being towed in on lowboy trailers, what a magical time this was. Chased it Lava loop the first day, got some great stills with Earl Knoob in the Glenbrook wiith the old water tower in the background. Your footage is so clear with little haze in the background. I was dying from the California smoke from their fires that was floating in the air in Colorado that i had to leave before the show moved to Chama. Good footage. Thanks for sharing.

Are there drawings for this? It’s our railway’s first winter since opening. Would be fun to have one of these. Although so far ice between the rails, which prevents wheel flanges from getting down between the rails, has been a much harder problem to resolve than snow.

It’s kind of sad to see 3985 in that state even after being in excursion service

UP 6936 deserves a mention. Largest diesel electric loco ever built, an DDA40X if a remember. Several were built. Currently 6936 is being refurbished and did a test run as recently as Sept 2023.

I’m heartbroken seeing the challenger in that consist along with 5511. I hope Union Pacific restores it. 3985 and 844 in my honest opinion were the queens of the rails before 4014 and everyone was drawn to both of them

Yeah, I imagine that the UP management didn't want to spend the millions' to rebuild her. Not after they already spent huge money on the Big Boy rebuild. Although, its still good to see that she will be rebuilt, and not allowed to simply rust away.

Nothing is more fun (at least in trains) than being a passenger during a blizzard. I was on one years ago on the train from New London, Connecticut to Washington, DC (back when it used to snow around the DC area). The train was packed with people who didn't want to make the drive and college students back after Christmas break. The train just kept going, plowed through the snow and made it DC, almost on time. The only thing it ran out of was beer.

It's crazy to think that a drunk Engineer saved this locomotive by wrecking it over Kenosha Pass.
