UAM Football 2021 Preseason Hype (Sony A7III Cinematic)
Why do youtubers walk around holding this camera like a 7 lb football? Or worse yet, in a back pack that takes minutes to retrieve the camera. Why not use a strap? I use an optech cross body and wear it 3 hours at a time with no ill effects. Camera rests on my right hip with strap across chest and back taking off some of the weight and I can either lightly support it up with my R hand or lightly press it against my side to further reduce the weight on my shoulder. I set exposure at each new lighting area, have the shutter button lock off, the dark slide out and the film advanced but shutter not cocked. It can't fire accidentally and I am reminded to cock the shutter/mirror because if I don't I can't see out the view finder and it won't fire. With an oleson split prism focusing screen, it snaps to focus faster than my manual focus 35 mm because I can clearly see the split prism coming into alignment. It is a JOY to use the wlf.
@@mrca2004 Yeap I’ve been wanting to get a strap for this one but just haven’t gotten around to it yet. I just don’t take it that seriously either 😂😂
You young folks getting into analog photography never seize to amaze me..1. The rb67 is not a mirrorless camera but a camera with mirror meaning WYSIWUG ( you're seeing what's real) one essential tool for night photography is a flashlight, you need one to see properly. So it ain't because it's old but because it's an SLR. 2. If you're goin to shoot long exposures, use the mirror lock up in the lens and not the shutter release cable in the shutter ( you was lucky because your exposure was over 1/2 sec ).. 3. You don't have to shoot if there's nothing to shoot..medium format shouldn't be treated like point and shoot.. 4. what you counted as 1 sec was literally 6secs , and your 2 secs what like 10sec... use a timer on your phone next time and don't guess the time ( bw is pretty forgiving that's why you got away with it.. if you're goin to shoot slide or even color negative at night, your results will surprise you )
@@joshmcdzz6925 thanks Josh! I’m no expert, just having fun 😁 *cease
Ok, I was shooting with my RB67 and i remembered you working with the T setting on the lens. So the leave shutter closes when you turn the ring to 1 sec. The mirror claps down if you press the cable release, no link to the shutter. If you want that, time with the csble release, you need to put the cable in the lens. There is Mirror up and bulb. When you use these, you also need to press the release for the mirror first and then take the shot with the cabke release. In short, your calculated exposures where a bit longer ;)
@@studiojege287 ahhhhhh I see what you’re saying, good point! I actually thought about this concept after the fact and I’m glad you just confirmed 😁
@@cjwomack Welcome, that's why the official Mamiya cable release has 2 "lines"
@@studiojege287 yeah I looked into those, pretty cool!
Good video, its a learning curve with the RB indeed... we all made these mistakes 🙂 Some good images out of the roll, keep it up!
@@studiojege287 thanks so much! Yeap it was fun anyways 😁
the contrast and pivot saved my life!! i cant believer i overlooked this
@@RodieOsc Yeap me too 😂😂
Nice little excursion, thanks. Wondering where? Nice thing about the RB is not only a ton of different viewfinders but also focus screens available, easily interchangeable. Having a brighter image in those conditions will definitely give more confidence than just what your lightmeter is telling you… Keep up the good work
Thanks so much! This was shot in Amman, I'll have to check out some different view finders!
@@cjwomack I wondered if it might have been there. Been nearly 30 years since I visited, and was unfortunately a terribly short stay. And managed to leave my camera at hotel the day I went to Petra…
@@bernardkealey6449 oh nooooooo, Petra is cool too, I've yet to shoot film there though!
@@cjwomack so much amazing culture, history, nature in that kingdom. I could spend days in Jerash - preferably with a camera with some technical movements, even if not punishing myself with 4x5 😉
That last frame 💥
@@lukethomasdawson I ended up liking that one too and wasn’t even gonna take it at first 😅
Made me laugh because those mistakes you made are the very same ones I have made and still make.
@@louissmith6584 glad I’m not the only one! 😂😂
@@cjwomack No we are definitely not the only ones.
Love the first frame actually! Even with the headlights, I think it works. This is actually really useful for me, since I have a roll of HP5 in a camera I'm trying out. Thanks!
@@alexwahoski you the man Alex! You’ll most definitely shoot it better than me 😂😂 I’ll be ready to see the results!

Great video, a simple but very effective treatment of your photo. What are your thoughts on removing the dust and scratches?
@@Ian_Walsh thanks Ian! Sometimes I like to keep it in there and sometimes I’ll remove it, just depends I guess!
Nice! Love the Dodge and Burn bit. Have never touched those sliders before today, so I'll have to give it a go with my next roll!

isnt that just regular Fuji 400, not Superia?

Wow. Look at the grainy grain. How awesome! Loved that you explained the setup so we know what we're getting here. It's really fun.
Thanks so much Chris! I love grain too, I think it adds character. Thanks for the kind words!
For those longer exposures, you gotta lean on things! That first one you did three times had a perfect wall & fence for it.
Dude that’s a great hack! Definitely using that next time, thanks Greg!
nah... toooo much noise ... it just ruins all ... :( i like how photo looks at 70mm film ! Sharp and clean )
I’ll have to try that sometime!
so... imax film?
@@Aeolous1 I had the same thought, kinda confused me 🤷♂️ I would like to shoot motion picture film sometime though!
This is more of an issue in development than with the film. Pushed film requires more development time. HP5 is way clearer than the shots in the video. Grainy Days shoots a lot of pushed HP5 and they're super sharp
Great video!
Thanks so much Pablo! 😁

Hello. Great video. What lens do you have for your Mamiya? I have the 90mm but I’m looking for something wider.
Thanks Matt! I use the 65mm and never take it off, it’s the only one that I use!
@@cjwomack Nice! Thanks. The 90 is just too narrow. I like your shots, catching lots of the environment.
@@mattreyes79 yeah I can see that, I like wider more and more these days too! I read up a little on the 50mm as well but from everything that I saw most users still prefer the 65mm so will probably just stick with that for now. Happy shooting and thanks for the words!
I wanna gonto UAM when i graduate
How did you remove the cars in the background at 06:00?
I use Luminar to edit and you can select items to erase and it will do it for you! I don’t know how it is in other photo editors but most of them have a similar option to do so.
Sucks about the checked film but taking Ls comes easy to mets fans :)
