I started out buying the exterior samples at Home Depot. But the samples are not the same as the “real” paint. I now buy quarts and exterior paint. On occasion I will buy the exterior samples if I need a lot of various colors and if I am painting a barn quilt that I know will be kept inside.

We are ok. Thank you so much for asking. We were without power from Friday until Tuesday night and lost some things in the freezers. But with what is going on 1.5 hrs to the West of me, I have nothing to worry about at all.

Sorry it has taken me so long to answer. We just got our power back on yesterday and our internet service. The razor is called a mini paint scraper (Amazon) and I just use any old card like a grocery store card to rub across the tape.

Thank you Noreen. We just got power back on Tuesday night. We lost about 10-12 trees but they were not in our yard so our house wasn’t hit. Took days to clean up debris from the yard. But…we were so blessed and thankful that we were spared the flooding our neighbors to the West received. It is so heartbreaking.

Were you using the heat erasable pens?

Oh my. I have only had that happen once when I had my Kilz a little too thick and the ink went down in there. I think you may need to either put a thin coat of Kilz on top of that line or just paint your pattern. I am sure the paint will cover it up.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. What I am using in my MDO is 120-180 grit.

I used Classic Red, Ultra pure white, and Royal Navy.

Yes

Just count how many blocks are on the 24”. Then divide that number into 36 to get the width of your blocks on the 36”.

I sand the MDO very lightly. Are you using thin coats of primer? I do not have that problem with MDO so I am trying to think of reasons for that to be happening. What kind of primer do you use?

@@BarnQuiltsbyMountainVisions Thank you very much for answering my question. I am applying two coats of primer and sanding the MDO wood. I may need to sand a little deeper to remove the shine that the wood has.

The first one is STAIN KILLING, PRIMER, the brand is Zinsser I bought it at Menards

@@65lulisa I have only used Kilz 3 on my MDO. Are you a member of Barn Quilt International or Barn Quilt Addicts on Facebook? I have seen folks post on there they use that brand. I am sure someone on there can help. I really think it has something to do with the primer. You stirred it well and let it dry good I am sure. If you do not do Facebook, I will post the question for you and see if we can get some answers.

Sure. The brand is MLife and I found it on Amazon. My favorite one has two temperature settings on it and I got the purple one. They are less than $13. I think I was using a pink one in the flamingo videos.

I am just using the flip-chart paper to show you guys the pattern. I use heat erasable pens to draw my pattern onto my board. I just uploaded a series of 5 videos showing beginning to end making a barn quilt. You may like those. I show the heat erasable pens on one of them.

Yes. mDO. Medium Density Overlay. The only place I can find it is at a lumber supply company. They order it for me.

It took 3 hours for Part 3 to upload. I am glad all of them have processed. I cannot imagine how long it would have taken to upload had I not split them up. Lol
