I’m also terminal, I have appendix cancer that has spread throughout my abdomen, without me even realizing it until it was to late . I’m doing chemotherapy every other week until the chemo quits working or if I just quit . I’m in palliative care right now . 😢😢
Sending you energy, love and our thoughts 💙
Fantastic interview Gents
That was what happened to my dad in1990
I wouldn't worry what others think
I hope these changes get through Parliment. Thank you for introducing Road Peace to us 🧡
This is such a worrying trend. This is going to leave so many with complex grief.
rather than thinking oh no im going to die, think a dang im still alive, I woke up today as well
We have gone backwards as a society, we need to stop the rot, we are judged by how we treat our young and old people, enough is enough 😢😢😢
🙌
Like marriage, death is way more expensive than it was. Chuck me in the bin for all i care, rather that than someone make money to dispose of my meat sack 😂
I experienced the duality of being deeply moved as well as totally uplifted by this incredibly honest montage of real people exploring this, so often too private and unspoken, subject that affects all our lives. What a truly unifying and engaging platform you have created to support and inspire, for which I thank you deeply.
Thank you so much for your feedback. There are lots of other conversations on our channel and many more coming soon, many of them deeply moving. It has been such a privilege to film them :) - Dan (Videographer/Editor)

Loved this. Clare is fabulous 🧡
Great interview
What an amazing montage
Good work John. Great to see a famous face lending weight to this. Keep up the important work.
Thanks so much Pete 🙌
Hi, this is a really excellent interview - but would it be possible to make available a version without the background music? I'm finding it hard to concentrate on what is being said because of the monotonous and repetitive music track. Which is a shame, because I want to hear all that Stacey has to say.
Hi Helen! Thanks for reaching out. We're considering dropping the ambient music track from our next season which is due to begin in August. In this case, the music was used to fix a 'buzz' on one of the mics. Please drop us a message so we can reach you as we can't send files on youtube (achangingindustry.com/contact) and I'd be more than happy to send you a version without the music :) - Dan (Producer)
@@dacipodcast Hi, thanks for your amazingly quick response! I will send you a message, thanks so much.
This is a fantastic interview, and it is so flipping important. I feel that this is becoming more and more a passion of mine.
Thank you for sharing your work, Andrew.
Thank you both, I really enjoyed listening to James, my notebook is now full of tips and future reading / listening ideas and that always makes me feel energised 🙂
Horrible disease. Praying for your comfort 🫶🏻💯🙏
Thank you Steph for this, I had a stillborn boy 18 years ago at 30 weeks gestation. I resonated so much with what you said about regrets and choices. Also being a nurse at the hospital where my son was stillborn I actually witnessed a transportation of a baby from maternity to the mortuary and the trolley they had just broke my heart. I wanted to do something to change this but I'm unsure how,
What a spectacular woman with such a strong spirit. Work to be shared and admired. She's amazing.
As a supporter of Scotty's, and follower of their news and posts, I'm always learning from these communications. I lost my mum at 10 years of age and wish I'd have had a community like Scotty's to help me understand what I was going through. This is what made me want to support this amazing charity and the incredible work that they do. Helping kids to understand what they're going through is invaluable. Children who've lost parents are all individuals, and different, but many experience the same emotions like sadness, anger and grief...some, maybe, not even realising what they're experiencing or that they could carry them around for years, or even decades, afterwards.
As a charity partner of MuchLoved I can only praise Jonathan for setting up such a fantastic tribute platform
NAFD Membership can be very expensive for private businesses. The opportunities to socialise with other members are expensive in terms of travel & expensive hotels- it is an exclusive club that we cannot all afford to join. A club that is dominated by co-ops, dignity, Funeral Partners & some extremely rich funeral families. I have met funeral directors who were educated at Eton College- nice people, but we undertakers are not all living similar lives and it really is an eye opener how rich some of these family dynasties are. Funeral Directing is a career that does not have a set career ladder, as with nhs nursing grades etc- first generation undertakers have to fight tooth & nail to develop our careers and build our businesses- we have to compete with family dynasties that are hundreds of years old- some good people, but many money obsessed greedy businesspeople. Some people get all the opportunities, others get taken into co-op managers offices, when they are in their early years in the profession, and bullied, cheated out of wages and subjected to brown envelopes and favouritism. After decades in the uk funeral profession, i do not blame people like Brian & Catherine Powell for trying to create quick wealth for themselves- it is cut-throat. Just set up a direct cremation company and join the American NFDA like Pure Creamation has. Unfortunately we do not all get the same opportunities in this profession- well done John Adams for helping the profession- good man! I would like to see the large companies act more responsably in how they treat the lower down staff. There are ways to improve the conditions for the staff in large companies. - Watch this space- there are new initiatives soon to be unveiled. I shall stay anonymous.
"If it's legal, moral and cares for the person, I'm in!" is a phrase I've used many, many times. What a delight to hear Debbie Smith using those same words.
I don’t think a plc like Dignity should employ a ceo who keeps showing off their arm & hand tattoos at every possible opportunity. I would not employ this woman in my funeral home, due to her tattoos, bad grammar & slouching. John is a good chap.
AMEN!! Thank You John for taking the time to create this channel, doing these videos and the research/ time and energy you spend in trying to lift this massive “taboo” subject of DEATH, it happens to each and everyone of us, yet it’s hush hushed and almost covered up especially with children, children should be brought to the funeral and told the truth, schools should wake up to the fact that they play a major role in the whole coverup/tabooness of funerals and death. When my husband suddenly dropped dead my granddaughter who I am special guardianship for with autism and FAS, she wanted to speak at the funeral, so I naturally allowed her, and she was brilliant. I have been a funeral director for over 20yrs now, and I adore my job. Thank you again!!
Thank you for your kind words. Well done for being to proactive with your own family loss. As a collective we really can change society for the better 🙌❤
Thank you for your kind words. Lets make the required changes to society!
And it was a fantastic tribute, to my dear uncle x
Such a helpful interview
This is excellent advice to anyone and the more people who help in this profession the better.
John and Debbie, a great podcast, full of hope, action and inspiration. Thank you.
Debbie and John… great podcast! I love the idea that Debbie has not been broken in by people with the wrong ideas. You are all very lucky to be together and making so much progress. I am a huge fan.🙏🏼
People are entitled to their own thoughts and opinions regardless if you think they need to change or adapt. With everything going on in the world people are allowing for stupidity to be the answer for all. Its not we all dont agree alike that is fair to say
What a beautiful testimony. Lovely interview and a hugely accurate picture of the wider impact of grief.
Really interesting interview John! Thanks for sharing with us all 😊
