California Bearing Ratio Test | CBR Test | CBR value of soil | Pawan Kumar Chamling
The California Bearing Ratio (CBR) Test result is used to assess the subgrade strength of roads, railways, airports and pavements. California bearing ratio is the force per unit area needed to penetrate soil with a 50 mm circular plunger at 1.25 mm/min. In conjunction with empirical curves, the results of these tests are used to establish the thickness of pavement and its component layers. This is the most common approach of designing flexible pavements.

Compaction Test | Heavy Compaction Test | Modified Compaction Test | Pawan Kumar Chamling
Просмотров 1,9 тыс.Год назад
The test aims to establish the maximum dry density that may be attained for a given soil with a modified (heavy) compaction effort. This laboratory test is performed to determine the relationship between the moisture content and the dry density of soil for a specified compaction energy, which will ultimately give the OMC and MDD. #civilengineering #geotechnicalengineering #soilmechanics #civil ...
Relative Density Test | Relative Density of Soil | Relative Density of Sand | Pawan Kumar Chamling

Relative Density, commonly known as Density Index, is the degree of denseness or looseness of coarse-grained soils. The in-situ condition of soil is compared to its loosest (minimum density) and densest (maximum density) states using relative density. #civilengineering #geotechnicalengineering #soiltesting #soilmechanics #geotechnical #geology #geotech #civil Video highlights How do you find th...

The hydrometer method is used to determine the particle size distribution of fine-grained soils passing through 75-micron sieve. It is one of the commonly used methods to accurately determine particle size distribution of a soil sample. Hydrometer analysis uses Stokes' law to calculate the size of soil particles from the speed at which they separate from liquid suspension. #soiltesting #geotech...

Determination of Shrinkage limit of Soil | Atterberg Limits | Pawan Kumar Chamling

The water content of the soil or clay at the point at which the water is just adequate to cover all of the pores in the soil is known as the shrinkage limit of the soil. It is the maximum water content at which a reduction in water content does not result in a reduction in soil volume. #soiltesting #geotechnicalengineering #geology #geotech #geotechnical #civilengineering #soilmechanics #civil ...

The moisture content at which a fine-grained soil does not alter its volume upon drying is referred to as the shrinkage limit.
